Alexis Ren vs Taylor Hill (Lightweight Title)

Alexis:
(23, 5’8, 41:9 FCBA, VIXENs)

Taylor:
(24, 5’10, 22:3 FCBA, Front Street Gym)

BEFORE:
This fight will mark Alexis Ren’s sixth title defense, a record on its own based on the Vixen's expectations, if we’re being honest - no one really expected Ren to capture the title belt in the first place all those months ago and catapult herself to the top of the Lightweight rankings. She’s beaten back some of the top fighters of this division, including girls like DiDonato, Swift and Jenner. Now, she faces an unknown quantity in Taylor Hill, who takes the stand opposite the podium.

Immediately, we notice the two-inch fight advantage that Hill brings to bear, not forgetting that the Victoria Secret angel used to compete at Welterweight before she found success in a lower weight class. Ren however seems unfazed as she marches straight up to her adversary, that cheeky grin on her face as she plants her fists too close to the brunette’s chin. Tension raised for sure but Hill remains calm, a small smile on her lips - no need to cause a scene tonight with the Front Street fighter just focused entirely on that title belt draped over Ren’s shoulder.

Girls break when the ring official pushes them back with a hand on each shoulder, leading them backstage for their final prep. Later, back in their locker rooms, the girls tape their brief comments for the upcoming fight:

“Seriously, who the hell does Taylor think she is? The only thing she’s done is beat Jenner, whom I’ve knocked out twice now these past few years. She’s crazy if she thinks I’m giving up my hard-earned title belt to a nobody,” Ren grins, hugging the belt a little tighter to her chest.

Back in her own locker room, Hill is sitting calmly in a pink bra and cotton briefs, befitting an Angel about to go on the catwalk of her lifetime.

“Ren’s done an amazing job this year. I’ve watched her body of work and I’m suitably impressed. But I’ve worked hard as well to get to where I am, and I’m not about to squander a title shot like all the other girls have done before. As you all know, the Vixens were the first to scout me, so I find it fitting that I’m back in the ring tonight, competing with the best girl on their roster. I’m looking forward to beating Alexis.”

Stride down the ramp is every bit a flashy fashion event as it is a championship fight, Hill strutting down first in a flowing pink shawl, smiling and giving short waves at the crowd to tease them further. In the ring, she lets her shimmering robe fall to the ground, revealing the same outfit from before that's wrapped around her lean, toned body. Ren’s turn at an entrance and it’s punctuated by rock music and loud roars, the Vixen pumping up the crowd at the same time as herself. She’s dressed in a white bikini top, shimmying her denim shorts down her legs to reveal a thong of the same colour. She bangs together red gloves as she awaits the bell in her corner.

Referee holds up the Lightweight title belt so everyone knows what’s at stake tonight. The crowds are already chanting their allegiance to respective girls’ names as the bell sounds off and HERE we go!

ROUND 1:
Bell rings and we’ve got some early action going on, ponytails whipping in the wind as these two lanky models jump in and start jabbing each other to the head immediately. They’re both eager beavers as they circle and shoot punches at each other, trying to snag the respective chin early, but at this stage of the fight when guards are firm, long legs are fast and bodies are filled with adrenaline, it’s tough to do much. Most of their punches land on the forearms as both girls spend the first round testing each other's capabilities out. Taylor of course with the two-inch height advantage, has a little less trouble imposing her will with shots landed before her rival, though Ren makes up for it with slightly more aggression, firing some nice punches to the body to round off the round.

ROUND 2:
It’s an equal contrast of styles if we’ve ever seen one: both Ren and Hill using their long legs to move fast and weave in and out of combat, lengthy demeanors easily weaving backwards and out of the way of incoming attacks. Add in the fact that we have two world-class competitors battling for the Lightweight championship, and this fight might really go the distance. Hill dodges plenty of attacks early, with Ren sending jab combos towards her head but finding it difficult to score on anything but air given her shorter reach. Hill countering slowly but surely, a left hand scored on the blonde’s cheek and another dinging into her chin as comeback. But the second half sees a sudden change in the winds as Alexis switches targets to the body, a jab combo ending with a dull hook to Hill's tummy lands late but throws Hill’s plans into disarray. The Front Street starlet goes on the retreat, covering up as Ren makes more inroads with body shots that draw low grunts to the bell.

ROUND 3:
But here comes Taylor, showing her potential as champion as she stays clear of Alexis’ attempts to trap her in one place, the taller girl playing to her strengths as she tags the blonde back on the face each time Ren tries to rush at her. Ren senses weakness from last round and pounces, but pays for underestimating her opponent when her cheek gets bunched up multiple times, more snarling shots to her chest making her even more unhinged as the Vixen gets impatient with a painful growl. Alexis’ run as champion thus far has been surprisingly spared of controversies, though some have questioned her mental fitness to hold the belts in the first place. She doesn’t quit here, continuing to bash and cross Hill’s guard, occasionally drawing a grunt as she forces her way past the arms and into Hill's lips - one must surely give the champ credit for her persistence, though it’s Hill who takes the round overall for her precision and smart strategy.

ROUND 4:
Back to a slower start as both girls stay at a distance early, body movements looking a little shaky as they hesitate to go full in, with half-steps forward, two steps back as they dance around each other, fists shaking in front of their chests before reluctantly pawing at each other from afar. Hill's still considered a new fighter when you look at the bigger picture, having won 22 bouts to her 3 losses but that’s only half the fights that Alexis Ren has been in over the years. Front Street girl’s a little hesitant as a result, and pays for it when she gets blasted to the mouth by a sudden feint left by Ren to the corner, right fist sailing in after to bash into those luscious lips. Taylor immediately goes wobbly, reflex action to retreat the only thing that stops another cross-hand from crashing into her face. Ren's giving chasing, however, jabs pitter-pattering all over Hill’s arms and bod as she gets shut-out this round, the only consolation being Ren's failure to send her down to the canvas.

ROUND 5:
Ren continues to hound the challenger, who doesn’t seem to have an answer to her aggression. Hill eats leather to her face early, in danger of being pushed into the ropes and trapped there as the Vixen alternates shots between her head and body, rinse and repeat, throwing Hill’s defenses into confusion. Half-round mark and finally we see some fire from Hill, the traditionally subdued girl absorbing a one-two combo to her tummy before slapping Ren back on the face with a jab combo of her to the nose, then banging a hook across the blonde's arms as the champ is forced to cover up. All-out battle takes place in the center as Hill realises she needs to stand her ground whilst Ren’s determined to take it, and the two women end up clinching at various points before roughly shoving each other off at the referee’s orders. Round ends however with Ren still in the lead, delivering another overhand left that catches Taylor outta nowhere, smacking hard into the side of her head and sending her back, reeling for cover. But the bell rings soon after, stopping an all-out rout for the VIXEN in another round taken through sheer grit.

ROUND 6:
Hill thus far having trouble breaking the bank, but Ren’s also clearly tiring from the repeated assaults on her foe. Another slow start to this round and it’s a sign for Taylor to capitalise: brunette’s criss-crossing footwork too fast for Ren to know what’s coming or counter in time, and the blows start landing on her arms and body, with the champ forced to cover up and run. Sporadic resistance of course from Alex as both girls take pleasure in sticking stiff hands into each other’s face, but Hill mixing some heavy bombardment into her assault, turning Ren's head once or twice to the side with nice, measured hooks that catch her on the cheek, then tight shots drilled into the side of her body and chest for good measure. Ren’s almost shocked by her opponent’s power, realising her counterattacks are less than effective and wondering what the hell’s been happening these last five rounds. Suddenly, we see a resurgent Hill, and the crowd’s loving this two-sided action, half of the stadium filled with supporters of the underdog erupting in cheers towards the end of the round.

ROUND 7:
Last push from the champ, however, as Ren growls with renewed resolve and wades in fast, trying to surprise Hill once more and shock her enough to retreat. It works for the most part, with Hill forced to throw up her guard as Ren’s punches come sailing in over and over, the Vixen slipping past multiple jabs in order to close the distance and rain punches on her arms and body, at one point drawing a low gurgle from Hill when a left hand's buried neat into her belly, another hook rattling into the side of her head, which sends her stumbling off to the side. Looking back, Hill’s mostly been outclassed this fight, though her resilience is surely world-class. The brunette does a good job of keeping calm, her guard taking a beating but at least she’s stopping Ren from headhunting past her guard, even with Ren planting her feet and BLOWING at her door with cross-hands and hooks. Ren still only manages to bang Taylor into the ropes in the final seconds, spanking more shots into her tummy and abs, and drawing loud grunts from lips, but again fails to send her foe down to the ground. Another wide round for Ren, who’s clearly leading in terms of points at this juncture, but the Vixen is scowling on her way back to corner at her foe’s abundant resilience.

ROUND 8:
Another blitz attack from Ren, who’s initiated a lot of the action tonight. She lands the first shots to the arms, crunching another lucky left to Taylor’s cheek, which forces a wince and pullback. Just as Ren’s about to leap in for the money-shot, however, Hill POWERS a counter-cross through the arms, which NAILS the champ clean on the chin, snapping her head back in one fell swoop!! Good god!! That came outta nowhere, didn’t it?! Ren groans as she’s forced to an abrupt stop, the rest of her body wavering on the spot as Taylor presses in in turn, easily landing hits on the Vixen’s squalored face with Ren’s eyes squeezed shut, arms flailing in desperation as she tries to cover up for once. Hill huffing and puffing forward, glint in her eyes as she methodically takes the champ apart one jab at a time, leather being shoved into her face and body, lips and chest, till a step-in BLOW right to the kisser is the nail in the coffin for Ren, who gets clotheslined off her feet and sent crashing DOWN onto her back!! It's a clean KNOCKDOWN for Taylor Hill!!

Where the hell has Hill been hiding this brilliance?? She spent the majority of this fight taking and taking and taking punishment, only to absorb everything and FELL the champion in one fell swoop!! Holy-- Ren left blubbering on her back, trying to lift her head off the canvas, arms moving up and down like a snow angel on the stained ground, with the referee hovering in and out of her vision amidst the glare of stadium lights, but it’s no use - Ren's knocked out COLD as the ref finishes his full count of 10!! It’s all OVER, ladies and gents!!

Official Decision: Taylor Hill defeats Alexis Ren via KO8! Taylor Hill is the NEW Lightweight Champion!

AFTER:
And just like that!! Ren's stripped of her golden status as she’s laid out in the middle of the ring, getting tended to by medics and Kate Beckinsale, who’d all rushed in once the bell rang to console their fallen champ. We’re not sure what else Ren could have done in this fight - she dominated most of the early rounds and was only surprised by Taylor’s power and resilience by the tail end of it.

Hill on the other hand breaks into a wide grin at her accomplishment, her body battered but still able to make a short run to her corner, throwing up her hands in celebration and hugs. As one chapter ends, another begins, is what they say, and Hill promises to show the same longevity and potential as champion if this fight was anything to go by, the former Welterweight fighter clutching the Lightweight belt tightly after it's handed over to her by the referee.

“I knew I had her. Ren’s got plenty of bite, but my strategy was always to stay calm and let her run out of juice. And she did exactly that in the final rounds. That's where I came in,” Hill grins to reporters later by ringside, hoisting the newly won belt over her shoulder. “I’m just grateful for all the support shown to me by Front Street - this victory belongs to my fellow stablemates and of course, my management. I promise not to let them down during my new reign as champion!”
