UD10 (7 Rounds to 3) Carter

Sarah gave away pounds to get the slower, but heavier-handed Rachel Stevens in the ring for a showcase. The gamble paid off as Sarah displayed tireless leg, accurate fists and unshakeable concentration in fending off Stevens for 10 grinding heats.

Sarah’s scouting was superb for this fight: she truly seemed to have read every page in the Rachel Stevens operating manual. Lateral movement, using every inch of ring. Directional changes and feints to keep Rachel from setting her feet. A constant scolding jab. Opening the fight with a series of blistering right hand, Carter was able to put the stockier Brit wobbly butt, earning all the respect Sarah would need to work her fightplan the rest of the night. It may not have been a thrilling action performance, but the lithe, hardhearted blonde proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that she can play matador with the best of them.

For Stevens, another night of frustration and disappointment, Obviously stronger than the American, the curvy Brit rarely got atop Sarah to work, and when she did—Carter proved adept at spinning off the ropes or otherwise slithering out of peril, Rachel took the best Sarah could offer, easily fielding hard wallop on a stubborn chin—but there was no tracking the slinking blonde down on this night. Another heartbreaking loss for pretty Rachel—another in a growing list of competent wins for carter who’s starting to look more and more like a flyweight darkhorse.
