Anya Taylor-Joy vs Margot Robbie
(Writing: LMW / Results: Lookout!)

Anya Taylor-Joy
(25, 5’7, 13-1 FCBA, League of Mighty Women)

Margot Robbie
(31, 5’6, 28-25 FCBA, Chimera)

Pre-Fight: In the next fight, League of Mighty Women’s rising star Anya Taylor-Joy will be facing Chimera star Margot Robbie. Anya went undefeated in her eight fights this year, so she will be looking to keep her winning streak going, while Margot will be looking to win this fight to make it a special ending to her time with Chimera, as the successful and storied stable closes their door at the end of the year.

Anya is in a good mood as she addresses the audience first in the pre-fight press conference. “It has been a great year for me, especially the last couple of months as I got nice victories over very respectable opponents. So, no matter what happens in this one, I’ll surely be in a celebratory mood at our New Year’s Eve party! Now, I respect Margot both as an actress and as a fighter, but of course I would like to finish the year undefeated, so I trained hard for this and I’m ready for the challenge!”

Margot starts her address with a smile, but then her expression turns more serious. “That’s nice to hear and there is no denying that Anya is a rising star with her own agenda, but I’m solely focused on my own task at hand. I’m grateful for my time in Chimera and I would like to end it on a high note with a win, which could only help me in finding a new stable as well. It won’t be easy, but I’m prepared.” They end the press conference with a respectful, but quick handshake.

It is time for the fight and Anya comes out to the arena with her coach, Summer Glau, alongside her. She seems festive as she waves and blows kisses to the cheering crowd. After entering the ring, she starts shadow boxing as she listens to Summer’s instructions.

She is wearing a green sports bra with red trim, matching trunks, gloves and shoes, while her hair is in double braids.

Margot comes out next with her coach, Sofia Vergara, right behind her. She looks focused as she waves and pumps her fists on her way to the ring as the crowd cheers for her.

She is wearing a red sports bra with white trim, matching trunks, gloves and shoes, while her hair is tied into a loose ponytail.

Both fighters come to the center of the ring to receive final instructions from the referee. Then, they touch gloves, give each other a respectful nod and step back to their respective corners. We are now ready for 10 rounds of bantamweight action!

Fight: Round 1: As the bell rings, Anya comes out with the calm and collected style expected of her, which forces Margot to take initiative and be the aggressor early on. Margot tries to close the distance and engage, but Anya makes it very hard with her fluid movement around the ring. When Margot finally gets in range and throws a punch, Anya is ready for it and blocks it with her guard and then she punishes her opponent for even trying with a counterpunch. Margot looks determined, so she keeps trying, but she is only giving more opportunities for Anya to counter. As the round progresses, Anya even starts to follow up those counter punches with one-two combinations and she is just racking up clean hits.

The round comes to a close with Anya having a huge advantage on the number of punches landed as Margot was only able to land a few clean shots despite her effort. As a result, Anya goes up top on the scorecard to start things off. Margot's aggressive style is currently playing into the strength of Anya’s counter style, so she might want to reconsider that. During the break, Sofia addresses this issue as well, telling Margot to calm down and switch to plan B. We don’t know what plan B means for Margot, but if you are getting told to calm down by someone like Sofia, then you should really question your choices.

Round 2: Second round starts and we can already see a difference in Margot’s approach as she is not as willing to close the distance as in the first round. She has switched to a more defensive style and is looking for opportunities to step up and engage instead of forcing the issue. Anya sticks with her own style of defending and counterpunching, but not much is coming her way early this round. With both sides being cautious and throwing fewer punches, the pace slows down and it makes for a mostly uneventful round. Margot wouldn’t mind though, considering that she is doing much better with this slower pace. She actually ends the round with slightly more punches landed, which helps her win the round narrowly on the scorecards.

Round 3: We start the third round with more of the same. Neither boxer wants to make a mistake and give an opening to each other, so they continue with their cautious and defensive styles. However, it looks like Margot is trying to up the pace ever so slightly, trying to catch Anya off guard. Anya is having a bit of trouble adjusting to Margot’s changes to her style and pacing, so her counterpunching game is a bit off right now, which makes Margot’s life much easier.

Anya still finds some success with her counterpunching, but Margot is getting the better of the short exchanges that she initiates. In the closing minute, Margot steps up to engage once again and she scores with a jab followed by a hook to the body. Before Anya can return fire, Margot clinches with her opponent, throws a few more punches to the body from the clinch and then pushes Anya away to land a straight to the chin before stepping away. Margot shows her experience to control the situation there and bully her less experienced opponent around. As a result, Margot wins another round and gets ahead on the scorecards.

Round 4: Margot seems more and more comfortable as she controls the pace and the action early in the round as she did in the past two rounds. Seeing her clinching and pushing tactics work last round, she employs the same tactics again. She moves in with two body shots and clinches with Anya before she can react. Margot then gives a little push to create some separation and lands an uppercut to Anya’s chin, which drives back the younger fighter. Margot doesn’t follow up as she is still wary of Anya’s counterpunching skills and thinks that it is not time to press on, yet.

Pressure of staying undefeated for the year, dropping behind on the scorecards and Margot’s changing pace and style must be getting to Anya as she is not showing her usual composed self at the moment. Instead, she goes on an unexpectedly reckless attack, but Margot is able to dodge Anya’s hooks and scores with some counterpunching of her own. After eating a few punches to the head, Anya ends up having to tighten her guard and step back to avoid further damage.

Anya survives the rest of the round with her footwork and guard, but it is a big win for Margot in this round and she now takes a commanding lead on the scorecards. It looks like Anya’s winning streak and her undefeated record this year is in danger of ending on the last day. During the break, an enswell is being applied under Anya’s left eye to reduce the swelling as she listens to her coach. Summer is trying to help her fighter refocus with her instructions. “Relax! There is still time to turn this fight around, but it won’t happen if you act reckless. We are not even at the halfway point yet. You have to trust our game plan and stick to it, results will come and you know it.”

Round 5: Margot steps up with the bell, looking confident after winning three rounds in a row and wanting to press on with her advantage. However, it looks like Anya has regained her composure after the break and she is back to her counterpunching ways as she sidesteps a straight from Margot and hits her with a hook. Margot goes for a body shot, but Anya keeps her away with a jab and then steps back.

Margot is getting frustrated as she is losing control of the match and she is finding it hard to land a clean punch on Anya once again. To regain control, Margot decides to go back to the clinching and pushing tactic, so she steps up and lands a hook to the ribs, but Anya reacts faster this time and lands an uppercut to Margot’s abs before she can clinch. As Margot covers her midsection, Anya lands a one-two combination up top, which drives the Australian back and forces her to switch to a defensive style. Anya finally performs like she did the rest of the year with her calm and collected style and precise striking, causing problems for Margot, who is having trouble defending against her opponent’s calculated attacks.

The ringing of the bell comes as a relief for Margot as she survives the round and has a chance to recollect herself. Still, Anya wins the round easily to close the gap on the scorecards and it is once again anyone’s fight.

Round 6: Margot tries to slow down the pace one more time, but Anya is in the zone now and she is attacking with purpose. She is getting in and out of the range to land short combinations. Margot tries to counter, but she is not finding much success at this point. Anya alternates between attacking the body and the head to keep her opponent guessing. Margot is doing her best to adjust her guard accordingly and she is blocking some shots, but the ones that get by makes her wince.

As we enter the second minute of the round Anya steps up for another exchange. She lands a double jab-straight combo up top and then goes for a hook to the ribs. As Margot lowers her guard to protect her ribs, Anya goes up top once again and scores with a one-two combo. She feints another combo up top, so Margot raises her guard, but Anya instead lands a big liver shot that immediately drops Margot to her knees. Anya walks to a neutral corner as the referee begins the count. 1…2…3… Margot is on her knees, covering her midsection and bent over with her forehead touching the mat 4…5…6… she lifts her head up, her arms are still clutching her midsection 7…8… she spits out her mouth guard and shakes her head 9…10! Margot cannot get up in time, it is over!

Official Result: Winner via KO in round 6, Anya Taylor-Joy!

Post-Fight: Anya looks relieved as she wins and finishes the year undefeated, She blows kisses to her fans and then hugs her coach, Summer. On the other side of the ring, Margot needs a minute before her body relaxes enough for her to get up. However, it looks like she didn’t suffer any serious damage as she motions to Sofia that she is fine and she walks to her corner by herself. After a moment, Anya comes over to check up on Margot as well. They congratulate and wish luck to each other as they share a quick hug.

After getting her hand raised by the referee, Anya takes the microphone to address the fans. “Margot is a great fighter and she made me earn that win, but I am very delighted to finish this amazing year undefeated. I would like to thank my team, stable and all the fans for their support! Hopefully, next year will be even better!” She waves to the cheering crowd with a big smile on her face.

Anya gives the microphone to the executive director of LMW, Sharon Horgan, who joins her in the ring. “Congratulations, Anya! You had an amazing first year with us and you will be receiving a special plaque for your undefeated record this year at our New Year’s Eve party!” She hugs Anya before continuing her address. “We are also honored to have the last minute opportunity to face Chimera before they cease their operations. We would like to thank them for all of their contributions to the league and we are very happy to be able to share the ring with them. Thank you!”

Another great victory for Anya, who finishes the year undefeated with her new stable. She might need more experience before getting a title shot, but she proves once again that she is ready to be one of the elite fighters in the bantamweight division. On the other side, Margot would have preferred a winning ending to her time with Chimera, but she still performed well in a losing effort and should attract interest from other stables.
