Intro:
Battle of the Brits with Dua Lipa hoping to move closer to a title shot, the undefeated Lily James is standing in her way, with Lily looking great so far in her career, can Dua be the one to beat her or will Lily move closer to the title picture herself?

Before the contest both were asked for their thoughts on the fight by FCBA Network reporter Layla Anna-Lee, who first spoke to Dua at her stables office, with Dua beaming in a black dress as she sits and talks to Layla, telling her "while it's cold outside I am so glad to be in the heat" both chuckling as they agree on that fact.

Then they get down to business, Dua says "I am so excited to fight Lily, I had a chance to spar her when she first joined her stable, she was rough around the edges technique wise, since then it has been amazing to watch her growth in such a short space of time, so I don't expect this to be easy by a mile" Dua sitting up with an expression of someone getting gifts on Christmas.

She then adds "but this will be a fight; no kid gloves, hell way both of us have been picking off our national rivals, this could be unofficially a British title fight if the FCBA had one, maybe our managers should have cheekily made one for us" winking at that part, before finishing with "one of us is going down and I plan on it being you Lily" raising her fists to the camera, she still can't help having a cheeky grin.

Lily meanwhile sits on the ring apron in her stables gym, smiling as she wears a blue dress with black trim, telling Layla "God this is going to be a hell of a step up, not that Cara (Delevingne) and Kelly (Brook) were easy, Dua has had one hell of a year, honestly we spoke in camp that she might be the best not to have held the lightweight title here, if I can beat her then that proves I belong in the elite" grinning as she thinks about that.

"While there is plenty of respect between us, I know once we cross that line and the first punch is thrown it is on, if Dua doesn't take me serious then I will make her pay, I don't see that happening, Angelina (Bridges) has brought me on so much since I joined this stable, I will make her proud by knocking out Dua" an assured look on Lily's face as she finishes her statement, getting a hug from Layla.

Fight night and as usual now when the Girls Friday and League of Mighty Women stables fighters clash you have their managers ringside, Melanie Sykes and Sharon Horary sitting side by side, a rueful grin on both their faces, hoping of course it will be their fighter getting their hand raised by end of the fight.

First through the curtain comes Dua with her coach Gisele Bundchen beside her and cut woman Eva Carneiro following them, Dua is wearing a black sports bra with gold trim, matching trunks and shoes, black gloves with gold thumbs, while her hair is tied into a braid, she climbs through the ropes into the ring looking relaxed, nodding to Gisele as she gets last minute advice.

Now here comes Lily with Angelina beside her, she smiles as she walks down the aisle, giving her cheering fans a nod, she enters the ring wearing a navy blue sports bra, matching trunks, shoes and gloves, hair tied back into a ponytail too, she bounces on her toes looking serious now.

Coming together at the center of the ring, the fighters embrace to show this will be fought in good spirits, the referee goes through their instructions as the fighters nod in agreement to them, then they touch up their gloves with a nod to each other, jogging back to their corners as the crowd roars, the bell rings when they are ready to start 10 rounds of lightweight action.

Round 1:
Up on their toes throwing out single punches, both women looking for openings as they feel each other out, Lily the more aggressive with her movements, stepping in with her jab at the abs or chest of her opponent, taking several digging punches into the top of Lily's head to knock it back.

As they start getting more comfortable and throwing more punches in bunches, Lily soon lands the best fight of the round so far, slipping a jab she catches Dua with a left hook to the side of her head, a straight follows up to push Dua to the outside part of the ring.

While both are landing some nice shots, Lily is the one controlling the pace, landing more punches as she looks to be relaxed, a double jab smacks Dua onto her nose, pressing the singer closer to the ropes, she just misses with a follow up uppercut as Lipa grabs a hold of her to slow her down.

With them broken apart, Dua comes in swinging more to try to land something meaningful, Lily catches her out with a counter right onto the jaw, with the round soon coming to an end, Lily looking happy with herself on a great start, Dua nodding as she stays standing, listening to Gisele on what she needs to improve upon.

Round 2:
Doubling up her jab to give Lily a little more trouble, Dua is looking for different openings to try to knock back her opponent, with Lily catching Dua with several clean cross punches, just missing with a right hook as she steps in, Dua instead countering her by sidestepping to the left of Lily, then striking with right across her jaw.

Roles look reversed as Dua pushes back Lily near the ropes with a one-two clean onto her face, both women letting their hands go more to sting the others cheeks, Dua slips a jab to hammer in a short right to the body of her opponent, then lands an overhand left to the side of the actresses head to turn her head.

Back into a neutral corner goes Lily, she covers up as Dua starts to unload on her, finding a moment she can hold onto Dua, Lily looks happy to have a moments peace from fists flying at her, both break apart when asked by the referee without incident, resuming with Lily trying to get away from the ropes.

Late in the round Lily catches her opponent with a left across her face, Lily pressing forwards with a two punch combo, Dua needing to go back on the defensive, the bell rings soon enough with a touch of a glove to show respect, knowing they are in a tough fight if these two rounds is a sample of what is to come.

Round 3:
Back at it they go trading more stiffer shots as feet are planted more, still they show good movement as they have that textbook boxing look, eyes locked behind their gloves as it is an even start to this round, they are smacking the other clean in gaps they spot but neither overextending themselves.

Dua though makes the first mistake, stepping in with her straight that Lily sees coming, deflecting it as she lands a counter right onto the chin of Dua, following with a short left cross as the brunette finds herself on the back foot, Lily stepping forwards to bash her foe towards the ropes.

A little shove to the chest opens up space, Dua waving Lily to bring it with her right, smartly James doesn't fall for the bait, grinning as she taps her chin in reply, back they go at it landing a straight at similar times, sticking inside a few moments swinging in short hooks to make their opponent respect them.

Final minute sees Lily crouch under a right cross, hammering in two short body shots as she drives Dua back towards the ropes, another overhand catches Dua on her jaw, with Lipa finding herself now driven into a neutral corner, Sharon at ringside can't help herself any longer as she stands yelling for her girl to break Dua, even as Melanie stares daggers at her, the round soon ends with Lily giving a nod to Sharon, who gives her a nod with a grin, knowing she is boxing well over this early going.

Round 4:
Lily looks to be brimming with confidence, planting her feet more to try to land more power through her punches, Dua keeping on her toes as both fighters managers getting animated, the crowd behind both fighters as they cheer each clean hit the popular stars land.

Trying to catch Dua with an overhand left, Lily misses as Dua sees it coming, instead a chopping left cross catches her on the chin, followed by an uppercut that knocks Lily onto her heels, A RIGHT HOOK FINISHES THE COMBO AS LILY FINDS HERSELF TUMBLING TO HER BACK!

Melanie jumps out her seat celebrating, turning to Sharon yelling "how do you like that bytch?!" Sharon clenching her fists as the frenemies look ready to fight outside the ring, inside it Dua isn't celebrating as she watches from the neutral corner her opponent, 1....2...3... Lily blinking as she slowly sits up, 4....5....6... Lily pushes up to her right knee, a little shook up but nodding to the referee, 7....8.. She is standing, fists raised telling the referee she is OK, the referee agrees so fight is on again.

Understandably Dua is looking to pressure Lily right away, with Lily shelling up throwing pot shots to try to stop Dua overwhelming her, Dua shoves her into a neutral corner, whacking away to the body to try to open her opponent up, Lily grabs her into a clinch, where they are till the bell rings, Dua getting a nod from Lily, though Angelina isn't happy one bit, telling Lily to leave the respect for sparring, this is a fight to a finish and she nearly was done there.

Round 5:
Now Dua is the one pushing the action early on, wanting to pressure Lily, who is covering up more tightly to start, confidence knocked out of her right now as Dua stalks after her, slinging in more body shots to open the blonde up top for hooks.

Lily though showing a good defence, moving her head more to dodge and land counters as the round goes along, making Dua start to think about things more, with a double jab landing on the chin of the singer to snap her head back as Angelina yells "that's it!" To her protégé.

But Dua finds an opening after ducking under a jab, banging in two short right hooks to the body, then stuffing a left square into the face of James, Dua muscling her opponent onto the ropes, where she slings in hooks around the guard till she is held onto, heads starting to grind as they don't readily break apart as they did earlier in the fight.

Final thirty seconds sees Lily come out her shell more, banging in more punches through the mitts of Dua, with both women trading more, the final ten seconds sees them go toe to toe to a loud roar from the fans, the bell rings with Dua looking a little puzzled by Lily, hoping she'd begin to wilt by now, while Lily gets wiped down as her left cheek looks a little puffy.

Round 6:
Coming together they trade around the ring, with Lily starting to use more feints, stepping back out the way of a left cross, Lily lands a counter right onto the chin of Dua, knocking her back as she lands a follow up left hook and uppercut.

Dua finding herself now under assault, throwing a left hook that Lily steps back out the way of, a counter right catches Dua onto her temple to rock her back, LILY LANDING A FOLLOW UP LEFT HOOK THEN A RIGHT THAT SENDS DUA ONTO HER BACK!

Now it's Sharon standing up yelling "that's why she is the best!" Grinning at Melanie as she says it, 1...2...3... Dua looking to the lights, 4...5... Covering her eyes with her right glove, right leg bent as she groans, 6....7.... Gisele yelling at her to get up, 8....9...10 but Dua is out of it, counted out by the referee!

Winner Lily James KO Round 6

After:
Lily gets the biggest victory of her career so far, she can be heard saying "oh my god!" As she covers her mouth, shocked she was able to overcome being knocked down to win the fight, Angelina climbs into the ring to go hug Lily, the crowd showing the winner a lot of love.

Dua meanwhile is helped up by her Gisele and onto her stool that Eva holds in place, Dua admits she is still a little dizzy, she nods to Gisele that she had her chance and blew it tonight, taking a deep breath as she stares at the canvas, Eva wiping down the beaten fighter.

Over comes Lily as the fighters share a hug, Dua patting Lily on her shoulder as she jokes "I thought I had you kid" winking as Lily grins, Lily replying "nearly but I got you" both laughing as they go back to being friends after a hard fought battle.

Two people looking awkward around each other is Melanie and Sharon, who sit quietly for a moment before they stand up at the same time, with both shaking the others hand, Melanie telling Sharon "I hope don't think this will always happen, your girls will lose to mine soon, maybe I'll knock you out" with Sharon staring hard at her, replying "we'll see won't we" as Melanie walks off, Sharon standing hands on her hips eyes full of fire.

In the ring things are much cooler as Dua tells Lily "good luck in your next fight" with Lily wishing her the same, out the ring goes Lipa with help from Gisele, the Girls Friday crew taking another defeat to their LMW counterparts, has the League of Mighty Women simply got their number?

All that matters right now is Lily getting her right hand raised by the referee to make it official, she blows kisses to her supporters as she is understandably beaming, finishing 2021 undefeated, she is growing with each fight and surely at least by the end of next year will be in title contention at this rate.

Leaving the ring with Angelina, Lily has Sharon step out the crowd and head to the locker room with her, telling her "I better get started on the plague to show you went unbeaten this year" making Lily look shocked then wipes a tear of joy from her eye, clearly Sharon cares deeply for her fighters, maybe why they are having such success in their first year in celebrity boxing.
