CH MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD VS TASYA TELES

FCBA LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

Santa-Kini Bout

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Mary: 37 YO, 5’8 (1.73 m), 67-53-0, 61 KO since 2002, Foxfire Boxing

Tasya: 36 YO, 5’9 (1.75 m), 9-3-0, 9 KO since 2020, Bonzo’s Gym

Before: MEW firm in refusing to discuss “My Mistress of the Body Saddle setback. That fight is over and done with. Now on to THIS light, my 3rd Title defense and, as you all know, I have selected Tasya Teles as my challenger. It’s true I beat her last November, but since then Tasya has shown a winning way. I was impressed by her wins over Yvonne Strahovski and Taylor Swift. True she didn’t beat Kendall Jenner, but it took Kendall 12 rounds to do it. So she is a very worthy opponent for me to beat this time.”

“Very nice summary of my recent record,” says Tasya, “but know that my improvements are going to make it a lot harder to beat me this time. In fact, I am very much expecting to take that title belt away from her. I do want to thank her for inviting me to a Santa-Kini contest, I had fun picking out my Santa-kini. You really didn’t have to text me all that advice on how to select one.”

“Oh, I like to be helpful to first-timers,” Mary said modestly.

“Well, we at the Bonzo Gym like to muddle through on our own. I do hope you like like my selection,” Tasya said.

“Looking forward to it.” Mary assured her.

No doubt a good many FCBCA fans are looking forward to this year’s Santa-kini. As Challenger, Tasya is first to the ring and removes her robe to reveal a white one piece trimmed in red faux fur and featuring red and green snowflakes she is wearing red gloves and boots with green laces. Her hair is pulled back in a battle braid,

Then Defending Champion Mary makes her entrance. She removes her robe to reveal a red one piece trimmed in white faux fur with silver and white snowflakes. Mary’s boots and gloves are white with red laces Mary’s bobbed hair is loose, but wetted down.

Ring instructions go quickly and gloves are tapped. The fighters go to their corners. There is a tense pause and then the bell rings….

R1: Mary out quickly with a stabbing jab to light up Tasya’s face and then she brings solid hooks to rattle Tasya’s rib cage. Tasya trying to mobile and countering with her own jab, but Mary maintaining steady pressure to the body mixed with sharp head shots. Tasya trying to find an opening for her counter, but Mary keeping her off balance and unable to set up properly. Mary looks smooth down the stretch, hitting Tasya often and then dodging belated Teles counters. Mary wins this first round easily.

R2: Tasya much more aggressive this round She on Mary from the bell, pounding in head snapping shots to the jaw and clipping MEW top the chin. There is a wobble in the Champ’s step as she tries to fall back to regroup and the wobble gets more pronounced as Tasya now strikes hard and often to Mary’s abs and ribs. Tasya now looking comfortable as she treat MEW to a taste of counter-pressure fighting to the bell. Round wide to Tasya Teles.

R3: Mary now the one trying to be first out of the gate as the 3r Round commences. Mary cracking a right off Tasya’s jaw to disrupt her and then pouring in the body shots. However Tasya now responds with a big right to the Winnie’s jaw and a head snapping left uppercut to the chin. Mary stumbles back and Tasya crowds in. Mary then rallies as she and Tasya engage in a body pouding battle. Mary looks to be pushing Tasya back, but then Tasya stops this with hooks to the Mary’s belly and a solid surprise ruight to MEW’s jaw. Tasya is thus able to steal the round from the Champ though her win was a close one.

R4: Mary forcing more close-in action this round, She is crowding in on the challenger lifting her short range rights and lefts into Tasya’s breasts and rib. Tasya feeling the impacts, but fights to stand her ground and pumps her own short range rights and lefts into Mary’s body. Mary works her way down Tasya’a torso until her whacking hooks are digging into Tasya’s stomach. Tasya finally pulling back late after a stubborn resistance and Mary keeps punching to the bell. Close round, but this one goes to Mary Winstead.

R5: Mary and Tasya go at it hard and fast this round. Mary trying to get at Tasya to the head, but Tasya is steadily working Mary to the body. Mary bobbing and weaving, circling, trying for good opening, but Tasya moving with her not giving the Champion what she wants. Then Mary lunges forward looking to bring her right into Tasya’s jaw. Tasya turns her body to block the effort with her shoulder and then swings back with a big right to the jaw of her own. KA-POW! They hear that one in the nose-bleed seats! Mary sent spinning to her right AND DOWN SHE GOES. Mary sprawls flat on her face as Tasya scampers to the neutral corner. Referee is standing over Mary counting. Mary stirs, pushes herself up to her hands and knees and then rises to break the count at “NINE!” Action resumes, but Mary not taking any further chances, goes in for a tight defense and Tasya has to content herself with whacking Mary to the flanks. Round, of course, goes wie to Tasya Teles.

R6: Tasya looking very confident as she she sits on her stool during break. She plainly thinks she’s gotten to MEW and it’s only a matter of time before she finishes her off. Mary looking grim-faced as she discusses situation with Foxfire Lightweight trainer Rachel Nichols.

Bell rings, Mary comes out with a determined look on her face. She lets Tasya come at her, but before Tasya can even fire her first punch, Mary unloads a deep digging hook into Tasya Teles’ midsection. Perfectly placed bellybuster of a hook jackknifes Tasya forward and then Mary brings a rapid right/left combo barrage into Tasya’s head. Tasya recoiling, bent over and gasping for air as shuffles backwards. Mary relentless as she punches Tasya into the ropes. Tasya takes a seat on the strands and buries her face in her gloves. Mary pounding away at Tasya’s exposed body just scrubbing her from breast to stomach and back again, Tasya twisting and writhing under this bombardment, but she survives the ordeal to the bell. Mary looks a bit annoyed that her challenger is still standing. Tasya gives her a weary, but defiant smile as she peels herself off the ropes. Round to Mary Winstead in a shutout.

R7: Now it is Tasya urgently conferring with her trainer during the break as Mary now looking relaxed and reassured. Bell rings and Tasya comes boiling out of her corner and launches a fierce blitz-style attack. Mary slammed directly in the face to stun her, then lightning strikes right to the jaw and then booming hooks into the heart of Mary’s midsection. Mary all-but-hurled back into her own corner and Tasya pounces on her. Mary hastily covering up but not before she has had her face turned into a swollen mess by more Tasya Teles face busters. With Mary protecting her head and face, Tasya now going vengefully at Mary to the body showing she can dish out a torso tormenting beat down, too. Mary gasping and groaning, her legs are shaking under repeated shocks, but she braces herself against the turnbuckle as she rides out the storm. Bell sounds to end the round. Tasya giving Mary a stern look as backs off, but Mary gives her one right back. Referee not liking the look of this, steps in and directs Tasya to her own corner. Tasya Teles answers Mary Winstead’s shutout with one of her own.’

R8: Mary makes sure she is out fast and clear of her own corner this round. Tasya not actually repeating her blitz tactics this round, but she closes in fast as she meets MEW in the center of the ring. Quick flurry of head shots early, then Mary suddenly sidesteps, ducks down and comes up fast as Tasya turns to follow. CRUNCH! Mary DRIVES her rising right hand in under Tasya’s chin. Tasya caught flush, lifted off her feet and she goes stumbling back in the ropes. Mary springs on her with bashing rights and lefts to the head. DOWN GOES TASYA! The challenger topples over on her left side, sliding down the ropes to end in a crumpled heap. Mary trots to the neutral corner, Tasya struggling to rise, using the ropes to assist her as she rises just in time to break the count. Referee looks dubious as he examines Tasya, but she can be heard insisting “I can go on! Really!” Referee finally accepts this and signals Mary to come in. Mary wastes little time in driving Tasya back into the ropes Tasya trying to escape, but Mary gets in front of her and starts smashing her head from side to side. Ringsiders scream for the ref to stop this carnage—AND HE DOES! Referee cradles Tasya Teles to safety as a wearym but victorious Mary Elizabeth Winstead wipes her brow.

THE WINNER AND STILL FCBA LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD DEFEATS TASYA TELES TKO8!

After: “This was a hard one,” Mary admits to press after the fight, “she thought she had me after the 5th, then I thought I had her after the 6th, but she shut me out in the 7th. Yet I came back to get knockdown in the 8th and then force the stoppage. I don’t think anyone but Mary Winstead could have done it. So it was a win as satisfying as it was difficult.”

As for Tasya Teles she relays word: “I’m very disappointed. I think I was careless in the 8th and paid the price. I know I could have beaten her if hadn’t been for that, but, well, that’s boxing, you make a mistake and all your good work goes down on the canvas with you.”
This was a very exciting fight and one that seemed to be in doubt until Mary seized control at the top of the 8th and never let go. No doubt this as very disappointing to Tasya Teles, but she showe a lot of good stuff out there tonight and we’re sure she’ll bounce back quickly. Speaking of bouncing back, MEW certainly did that after her painful loss to Taylor Swift and she widens her title run to three successful defenses and will leave 2021 as Lightweight Champion
