Lily Collins vs. Vanessa Hudgens (Flyweight Title)
(Results: Lookout! Words: Wiz)

BEFORE:

Pair of brunettes are about as good as it gets at flyweight. Lily and Vanessa have been regulars in the Top Twenty for years and have SIX flyweight title reigns between them. Hudgens is already in the Hall of Fame, and if Collins fights long enough, she'll likely join her. But, tonight isn't about any of that. It's about the flyweight belts. Both girls want them. And, only one gets to walk out of the ring with them tonight.

"It hasn't even been a year," says Lily with a shake of the head, "Since I lost the belts. And, it feels like FOREVER. Because, as everyone knows, I'M the top flyweight in the FCBA. And, that gold belongs around MY waist. And, after I'm done with 'Nessa, that's EXACTLY where it will be!"

"I know where Lily's FACE is going to be at the end of this fight," says Vanessa. "Sucking canvas at MY feet."

ROUND ONE:

'Nessa working the feet early, unlike in her last bout against Collins. But, the change in tactics doesn't bother Lily at all. Instead, she uses her length and feet to cut the ring, play the angles, and take the fight to the champion. She's finding Vanessa with sharp combinations to the head, backing her up, stopping her movement completely in spots with excellent footwork that cuts off the ring. Hudgens ALL out of sorts as the round goes on. She's not just getting the worst of things, she's taking a THUMPING as Collins has the range all dialed in, and she's getting plenty of shell on target. Champion is never hurt, but she's looking a little scuffed by the time the bell rings ending the first stanza. And, when it does so, Lily's taken the points wide to lead 10-9.

ROUND TWO:

Hudgens goes "old school" and comes forward on Collins like she did last January. Lily's ready for THIS, too, obviously, but 'Nessa makes it work, at least better than what she was doing the previous round. Hudgens is athletic and moves the head and feet well, so she's able to get past Collins' glove and get inside to work her body, then come upstairs. When Lily starts responding, 'Nessa slips away, dances, circles, works right back inside to bang some more of the taller girl's body, then hook her to the head. Collins scoring some on the inside, too, and she's managing to get some combinations put together while 'Nessa's circling at range, so the British beauty keeps things close on the cards, but, when the bell rings, Hudgens has claimed the points, albeit narrowly, to even things at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Adjustment from Collins. 'Nessa wants to come forward? OK. Lily's going backward...kinda. Using a drop step and circle, the British flyweight creates a bit more time and space for herself to get the left on and stop Vanessa's forward motion. And, it makes a TON of difference. Hudgens is getting stopped, and then POPPED. Because, when Lily lands that jab, she's immediately following with accurate right hands. Again, the Hall of Famer is never hurt, but she's taking plenty of punishment and the challenger is piling up the points for the second time in three rounds. And, by the end of the third round, Collins actually has Hudgens going backward again, and it's Lily stepping forward behind the jab to punish her rival. At the bell, there's no doubt about it. Lily. Wide. And up 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Lily coming forward. She's got it working now, driving Hudgens backward with hard, well-placed rights. She's squaring the champ up and punishing her. 'Nessa not moving enough, wants to fire back at the British beauty, but Lily's getting much the better of things and, before the shouts from her corner can register with the champ, RIGHT HAND, LILY! And this time 'Nessa IS hurt! Hudgens staggered and then DROPPED by a quick flurry from the challenger! Collins immediately to a neutral corner as the ref counts down on a dazed 'Nessa. Hudgens struggles to her feet at seven and takes the mandatory. And, ON COMES LILY! Collins a buzz saw as she drives Hudgens into the ropes and bangs away looking to finish. 'Nessa, however, holds on to the bell. But, it's a 10-8 round on the cards, and Collins now has a 39-36 lead.

ROUND FIVE:

Lily pouring forward, but the champ moving now. Legs aren't quite ALL the way back, but she's got enough in those gams to circle and jab and make the Brit's job difficult. For Collins' part, she's getting too aggressive. She knows she was close to finishing last round, and she's pressing to do it now. But, that plays right into Hudgens' hands. All 'Nessa wants to do is move, jab, run clock. And, with Lily boring forward rather than trying to cut the ring, the champion is able to do that very, very well. In the final minute, Collins begins to settle down, starts working the feet and the angles, but, by then the die is cast, at least for round five. 'Nessa's shaking the damage, moving better and better, and her work in the first two minutes is, by the bell, enough to get her the points narrowly and cut Collins' lead to 48-46.

ROUND SIX:

Ladies settle down into boxing. Lily working the reach advantage, looking to match footwork, get the jab on, follow with hard right hands. 'Nessa circles, jabs, pops forward in spots to keep the challenger honest, getting off in combination and scoring well when she does. Both fighters getting work in for the first two minutes with almost nothing in it. And, not a lot changes in the third. Fighters comfortable on these terms. Lily able to put punches together when she can get the coordinates down. 'Nessa makes that tough for her and scores with the jab on the move and with both hands when she stops to pop. Final ten seconds features a SHARP exchange that sees both heads snapped back but does nothing to put any space between the fighters. It's an even round on the cards, and Collins maintains her two point lead, 58-56.

ROUND SEVEN:

Ladies boxing. 'Nessa moving, showing great spring in the step despite moving toward the later rounds. Collins angling, looking to square up and use that reach. Both fighters, once again, having some success on these terms. And, nobody's grabbing any kind of advantage. Third minute sees a change in that that. BOOM! 'Nessa stops, pops, and ROCKS COLLINS WITH A RIGHT HAND! Lily's knees do a shimmy and 'Nessa immediately goes all in, letting the hands go, hammering away at the listing HMS Collins and finally SINKING her with a nasty short right hook! Lily goes down on her right side and 'Nessa steps over her prone form on the way to a neutral corner. Collins struggles to get off the canvas, making it to all fours at eight, but she can get no farther. The count passes the challenger by and it's OVER! And your winner by KO7 and STILL Unified Flyweight Champion is Vanessa Hudgens!

AFTER:

Hudgens dismissive of her opponent in the post fight. "She landed a lucky one here and there," says the champion. "But, the fact is, she's nowhere NEAR as good as I am and I proved it tonight. And, here's the bad news for the REST of this division. Lily might be the best fighter IN it except for ME. There's nobody in the FCBA in my class. So, be advised. I'm going to hold these belts for a LONG LONG time."

And speaking of a LONG time, let me make it clear that Lily is in for a LONG night ahead. For those of you who might have forgotten - rest assured I haven’t - the year began with me losing to this witch - in a La Guerra de Amour Boxing bout which was one of the most humiliating nights of my career. Now, here at the end of a truly wild year, I’m back on top and coming full f*cking circle, it’s Lily Collins who is going to suffer. There is NO question about that, so we’re off to ring in the New Year’s the way we should. At midnight - do you know what Collins is going to be kissing? My tummy.”

With a confident smirk, Hudgens pats her abs as she heads towards LIly Collins to collect her bounty. Dragging Collins from the ring, it’s a parade as she takes her on an extended Walk of Shame, occasionally kissing her cheek, lapping up her rival’s tears or whispering taunts into her ear. Taking her foe to a waiting limo, she enjoys some champagne while she smothers out her rival in a variety of ways - ensuring that she won’t be fighting back anytime soon.

The two of them head into a private elevator- where Vanessa was eager to pay her foe back for their own recent elevator ride - into a hotel room. Vanessa grins like the Cheshire Cat as she opens up the hotel room and hangs a very clear sign on the door - Do Not Disturb. And no matter what, nobody will tonight. For tonight is the revenge of one Vanessa Anne Hudgens, who will ensure that as 2021 fades, things will start in a MUCH better place for the fittest flyweight in the FCBA.
