BEFORE:

"Arterton's a champion, sure," says Jeri with a smile. "And, I'm a champion, too. So. Let's go ahead and climb in there and see what happens."

"I have plenty of respect for her," says Gemma with a nod. "Everyone should. But. I know which of us is better. And, it's not Jeri."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's '7 of Mine' by Warp 11, and the woman whose character was the inspiration for that song, Jeri Ryan of the Academy, is on her way to the ring."

Cassie: "Here's the part where Mac says age isn't anything but a number..."

McCarthy: "No, here's the part where Mac says SHUT UP, SCABBO!"

O"Dell (sighing): "Two more fights. That's all. Two more fights and that bottle of Pointy's bourbon is in my hotel room. Meanwhile, Ryan climbs into the ring and is helped off with the robe. She's wearing an azure number and showing off a body that still gets the crowd going, and, that's 'London Calling' by The Clash you hear behind us, and that can only mean that 'The Gravesend Gladiator', Gemma Arterton, is on her way to the ring."

Tess: "Gemma one of the few girls who's punched her ticket on the Tenth Anniversary Roster, but, she's also looking at getting a shot to get those titles back, so, tonight's fight still a very big one for her."

O'Dell: "Arterton into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that violet number we've seen before and looking plenty good in it. Ladies about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Gemma. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Ryan."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "And, we are underway. Ladies settling in at gunnery range and getting their box on early. Both of these girls have the skills and experience to make this work, and that's evident early as we're seeing nice combinations put together and also some slick defense from both fighters..."

Tess: "Ryan, obviously, a dangerous hitter, so, if you're Gems, you probably want to be fighting on these terms."

O'Dell: "Probably do, and Arterton certainly making no move to change things. And, neither is Ryan. Jeri satisfied, for now, to stay at range and work hands and feet. Nice combination by Ryan right there, and that got Gemma's attention. And, there's another flurry by Jeri, landed a good right in there!"

McCarthy: "All Jeri has to do is stay after this Dancing Hooker. She'll get her."

O'Dell: "Into the final twenty seconds of the first. It's been close, but Ryan's grabbed the edge in the later going. She's getting more done at the moment, while Arterton's playing a bit more defense than she probably likes. Five seconds to go, and there's the bell. Close. Jeri's points."

Cassie: "And, Ryan's up 10-9."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second sees more ranged action at the start. Arterton moving the feet a bit more now, looking to foul Ryan's aim while getting to spots where she can get her own offense on target. For Jeri's part, she's working the jab, looking to use it to set up hard right hands..."

McCarthy: "Just stay after her. You'll get her..."

O'Dell: "Nice flurry from Gems there! Forces Jeri to cover up. Ryan fires back and lands a solid right hand in that flurry. Arterton getting her own jab on target, gets it out and back quickly, drops the right hand in so well behind it. Ryan slick defensively, blocking, slipping..."

Cassie: "A veteran like Jeri, she's seen all of this before..."

O'Dell: "No doubt about that. We're into the final half minute of another close round. Arterton turning a bit now, making Jeri turn with, all about making the older woman work to target and it's made a difference in this stanza. One more exchange and there's the bell. Close. Gems."

Tess: "And, we're even at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Back to boxing to start the third. Again, Arterton turning, angling, looking to get to spots while making it harder for her opponent to...RIGHT HAND, JERI! Ryan a BIG right and Gemma is HURT! Arterton stumbles backward and Ryan going all in with both hands now..."

McCarthy: "This is what I said! Stay after her and you'll GET her!"

O'Dell: "Ryan thumping, driving Gemma back into the ropes. Arterton in a high guard, leaning back into the cables as the older woman gets off lustily, throwing punches in bunches. Gems rolling with, blocking, trying to survive the onslaught. Referee looking in closely..."

Tess: "Arterton need to do a bit more than she's doing..."

O'Dell: "British beauty jabbing back in spots, but it's all Jeri all the time as Ryan looks for the finisher or the shot that will bring the referee in. Can't find either at the moment and we're down to ten seconds. GOOD right by Jeri that sent sweat flying, but there's the bell and the third is in the books. Ryan. Wide."

Cassie: "And, she's back up a point, 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Jeri pressing the advantage early. She's backing Gems up with hard shot, looking to, if not finish this thing, at least effect a clean up. Arterton giving ground, working a fighting retreat and doing that effectively. She's scoring in counter, but it's Jeri fighting lead and getting the better of things..."

McCarthy: "Keep after her. Keep after her."

O'Dell: "Good combination by Jeri and THERE'S A RIGHT HAND, ARTERTON, and RYAN IS HURT! Jeri staggered by a BRUTAL right hand counter and now Gemma letting the hands go. LEFT HOOK! Jeri stumbling and DROPPED by a straight right to the head!"

Cassie: "All THREE of those were knockout punches!"

O'Dell: "Ryan down on her back, eyes wide, staring up at the referee. Arterton to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Ryan trying to sit up at six, and slumping back down at seven! Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO4 is 'The Gravesend Gladiator', Gemma Arterton!"

Tess: "And, you can see why THIS girl is the one lightweight guaranteed to be on Front Street's Tenth Anniversary roster."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Gemma Arterton, and, Gems, that was grueling in there..."

Gemma (nodding): "Knew it would be. She's just a BRUTAL hitter and she knows what she's doing. I knew it would be physical. And, it certainly WAS."

Tess: "What's next for you?"

Gemma: "Well, obviously, I want a shot to get those belts back, so, we'll see what we can find to get me there."
