Vanessa Hudgens vs. Isabela Moner

(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

"Big challenge," admits the younger brunette with a nod. "You want to be something in this division, you have to sort out Vanessa Hudgens. I mean, Lowndes is one thing, but, Vanessa is the measuring stick. And, tonight, I'm going to pass that test."

"Oh, I'm going to be testing Isabela," says 'Nessa with a smile. "I'm going to be testing every PART of Isabela. And, she's about to find out that the Fittest Flyweight in the FCBA does NOT grade on a curve."

ROUND ONE:

Moner aggressive early as usual. Hudgens has the reach, but doesn't use it. Doesn't use the legs, either. Instead, she stands and bangs with the younger woman. BOOM! Mistake! Short right hook from Isabela and 'NESSA IS HURT! Hudgens rockin' and reelin' backward as Moner swings for glory, on the verge of something absolutely huge. Hudgens washes up against the ropes, forms the tight earmuff. Isabela battering away at it, leaving the body, which Hudgens has on sale, completely alone. Youngster wants to end this thing and end it right now. And, the referee is plenty close to doing it for her. He's looking in closely as the smaller brunette batters the veteran, sending her wobbling along the ropes with a short right hook just as the bell rings. When it does, Moner stomps angrily back to her corner. She's won in a shutout, but she's clearly disappointed she couldn't finish.

ROUND TWO:

Moner all OVER 'Nessa early. Hudgens is wobbly-legged and Isabela knows it. Youngster showing a TON of maturity here. She's pressing the issue, sitting down on punches, taking it to her more-experienced rival, all while staying very sound and setting up punc...BOOM! There's that right hook and DOWN GOES VANESSA! Hudgens dropped to her right side by that nasty short right! Moner BOUNCING back to her corner to watch and wait. But, like her first round efforts, the waiting ends in disappointment. Hudgens up at eight. Takes the mandatory. And, the ref waives on Isabela! Moner a buzz saw of leather as she forces 'Ness back to the ropes again and has at her. Again, ref looking in, ready to pounce, but the veteran is doing jussssstt enough to stay alive. It's all Isabela right to the bell, but, again, 'Nessa survives. But now trails 20-17 on the cards.

ROUND THREE:

Moner right back to work, stepping to 'Nessa, backing up the older fighter. Hudgens tying up now, wrapping up the smaller woman, trying to slow her down. Works. To a point. Isabela still getting the better of things, but 'Nessa's doing what she's hoping to do, buying time for the legs to come back and the head to clear. Still, Isabela's getting work done, just not as much as she'd like. She's landing some short, sharp shots, and, for two minutes, is in total control. Then, Vanessa begins moving. Legs coming around now. She's sticking the jab, circling, forcing Isabela to try to work forward to get to spots. And Moner not able to do it. Instead, 'Nessa's dictating terms and pace now, showing everyone classic Vanessa Hudgens. It's too late to salvage the round, which Isabela wins close. But, while Moner's lead is now a massive 30-26 after three, Vanessa has served notice that she's back in this fight.

ROUND FOUR:

Jab and circle the name of the game as 'Nessa settles into a rhythm. Moner knew this was coming, however, and she's clearly been training for it. She's angling, looking to cut, keeping the guard high. At times, she's able to slow Hudgens down, bring her to battle, and, at those times, Isabela does well. Moner very effective on the inside with the hooks. But. Prepare as you might for Vanessa Hudgens, she's simply too GOOD for you to be able to completely counter what she wants to do. You'll have moments, like Moner does. But, at other times, 'Nessa's going to be on the move, and, when she is, things are most likely not going to go well for you. And, they don't go well for the younger brunette. 'Nessa too slick, too quick, too experienced. She's bouncin' misbehavin' and piling up points with that accurate left. When the bell sounds, Moner's moments have kept it from being a blowout, but Hudgens is on the board, cutting Isabela's lead to 39-36.

ROUND FIVE:

Hudgens now establishing control. She's driving Moner crazy with that left, snapping it in her face, stopping her, setting her up for hard right hand follows. Isabela game, trying everything to find a way to bring Vanessa to battle, slow down all the legging, but she's not getting it done. Hudgens is in control early, and, as the round goes on, she establishes more and more dominance, stopping her circling more often to landing hard combinations. By the final minute, Moner's on the defensive, spending most of her time either covering up or backing up. She can't get to spots, can't get onto the offensive, eventually, can't even get onto the front foot. By the final seconds, Hudgens is even doing a little clowning, sticking out the chin and pulling it back before landing a hard right hand at the bell. It's 'Nessa and wide, and, while Moner's still up 48-46 at the half, the worm has, as they say, turned.

ROUND SIX:

Hudgens on the move, working the jab, slowing down Moner's pursuit with it. 'Nessa setting up hard right hands that are beginning to take their toll. Moner's beginning to puff up a little, and Hudgens notices. Vanessa ups the aggression, begins backing the younger woman up with hard flurries and then, about a minute in, BOOM! A straight right staggers Isabella and a left hook DROPS HER! Moner down on her back as 'Nessa struts to a neutral corner. Moner down on her back staring up at the ref, not looking like beating this. But. She does. Younger brunette makes it to her feet at nine, takes the mandatory. Ref thinks about it, but waives on 'Nessa. Hudgens in seek and destroy mode. Batters Isabela back into the ropes and lets her have it with both hands. Moner hanging on in a tight guard, taking a beating, EATS a right hand that wobbles her and it's OVER! Ref leaping in to cradle Isabela to safety. And your winner by TKO6 is Vanessa Hudgens.

AFTER:

Hudgens dismissive in the post, though her face shows she's clearly been in a fight. "She landed a couple of lucky ones," Hudgens says with a shake of the head. "Got me on the defensive for a bit. But, she was never winning. I was always coming back to beat her. She knew it. I knew it. And the PEOPLE knew it. And, Nat or Mishy. Whichever one of you old hags ends up with that belt at the end of the night. I'm. Coming. For. You."
