Before: Madonna relatively inactive considering her glorious career, but she’s still a brick and spends most of her interview intimidating Halliwell with a stream of calculated invective. Geri refuses to take the bait, but seems rattled nonetheless. Black push up bra and panties for Halliwell, black silk draw string pants and bra for Madonna.

During R1: Madonna mixes it up well, going cheek to cheek, shoulder to shoulder with Geri to test the redhead’s suspect gut, then bouncing outside to test the legs. Madonna with good control insider and out, but Halliwell coming forward, evidently not afraid to trade.

R2: Halliwell gets inside and owns much of the round with short, digging lefts and rights to Madonna’s sturdy midsection. Madonna inactive, leaning, holding and pushing against Geri while the rdhead pumps punches to draw even on all cards.

R3: Madonna gets her legs going, dancing around Geri, slashing in to land 2 and 3 punches, then stepping out at angles. Halliwell lights Madonna up with sneaky uppercuts inside, knocking the blonde’s head up off Geri’s shoulder with a short stroke. Madonna again let Geri off, and allows herself to be outhustled at close quarters.

R5: Madonna takes the fifth as the see saw bout tilts back to the boxer. Ciccone jabbing at Geri’s face, has the redhead shiny and swollen looking, but can’t discourage Halliwell’s advance. Geri continues to cut off the ring, plow forward behind a crossed arm defense, and occasionally get to Madonna’s ribs whenever the American stands her ground.

R6: Geri Halliwell does what no one thought she could this round: muscle Madonna around the ring. Madonna spends the entire round seated on the ropes or turnbuckles, leaning in on Geri, ostensibly waiting for counter opportunities, but never pulling the trigger. Geri uses her shoulders and elbows liberally, and bangs away at Madonna’s brawn y arms, tummy and jaw with clubbing strokes, Shut out Halliwell as the pendulum swings back her way.

R7: Madonna goes back to holding and leaning, as Geri seems to slowly take command of the action. Halliwell with her head constantly on Madonna, is getting underneath the blonde’s skin, and her fists are beating a steady tattoo on all that muscle. Ciccone just won’t fire back, and once again, finishes lamely on the ropes, choking up points, and taking unnecessary punishment in close.

R8: Brand new Madonna comes out this round. Stepping back to allow Geri to come forward, Madonna times a beautiful left jab/right uppercut off the redhead’s chin to stun Halliwell for the first time in the bout. Gerri wobbly-butt, covers up and tries to close, but Madonna steps back, peppering the Brit’s shoulders and the top of her head with flashy combinations. Shutout for Madonna as she puts the first real beating of the night on her opponent.

R9: Madonna stands in front of Geri this round, shoving the redhead back by her shoulders, digging to her soft tummy with sickening force, and starting to hurt Halliwell with every punch. Geri clearly looks exhausted as Madonna twists into withering body shots, steps to the side and cranks hooks from angles. All Madonnas to the finasl minute as Geri’s defense begins to break down and her head starts to jerk back and forth from Madonna’s compact punching. Double left hook to the teeth sets up a smashing right cross, and Geri rolls onto her back. She beats the count, but ref won’t allow her to continue as she is clearly helpless. TKO9 Madonna as the U.S. is off to a quick start.
