Before: Rogers shoulders a lot of pressure tonight as the U.S. looks to her to be their stopper. Nicole has never looked better, entering the ring in pale spaghetti strap cotton tank top, cotton panties (as worn in her new movie “Eye Wide Shut”), hair up. Mimi counters with teal tank top and panties—both women white gloves.

During R1: Mimi responds like a champ, taking the fight to Kidman and forcing the big redhead to the ropes. Rogers and Kidman grapple much of the time, but Mimi gets her gloves inside on Kidman’s biceps, and can snap off punches before grappling again. Shoving and punching, Mimi controls Kidman very effectively, taking away all aspects of Nicole’s fight plan in the first round.

R2: Nicole spends the first minute of this round establishing leg superiority, gliding around Mimi, encircling her, and finally getting Rogers to chase. The jab starts to unfurl, nailing Roger’s from well outside, and thrown with unpredictable rhythm. Mimi walking into jab, starts to get nailed with straight right crosses and midway through the round Nicole is able to lean into 5 and 6 punch combos, thrown straight as Mimi leans back. Nicole answers the shut out with one of her own, and opens a nice little cut over Mimi’s left eye.

R3: Nicole’s reach, timing, and legs own Mimi again this round. Circle, popping unpredictable jabs, Nicole just seems to catch Mimi napping with everything she throws. Rogers still pivoting, can’t close, and walks into those straight right hands to the face. Rogers’ face a mess this round, as is the front of her camisole at the bell.

R4: Sporadic offense from Mimi, but Nicole is in control. In the final minute, Nicole wants Mimi’s body, and lashes at ir with swinging lefts and rights to the flanks. Nicole turns her hips and grunts like a tennis player as she slugs at the body, her shrieks startling the audience as well as Mimi at first.

R5,6: More one-sided offense as Mimi is trip hammered into a slack jawed dazed by the spearing jab of Kidman, Nicole’s ability to dance and pop jabs has made this fight ridiculously easy, and when she stands and slugs, shrieking as she does so, Mimi just doesn’t have a response. It’s never one punch from Nicole, but the accumulation which is having the effect, Mimi just gets more and more beat up as time goes on. After 6 her left eye is closed, with the right on its way, and she seems badly discouraged in her corner.

R7: Nicole a little overconfident misses a right hand, and exchange of simultaneous hooks goes Mimi’s way as Nicole staggers back on her heels. Mimi takes her shot, pushing in with head, pounding away at the hips if Kidman, pounding the tummy, pounding the arms. Nicole hurt, and a little punched out, lies on the ropes, covering up, countering occasionally, but it’s Mimi’s round.

R8.9: Rogers pressing forward, tries to make a fight of it, but anytime Nicole wants to get control, she steps outside and uses her God-given gifts of reach and height to good effect. Nicole becomes fascinated at times with her jab, able to land it at will with sickening force on the skull of the beaten brunette, and fighting entire sequences left handed, just because she can. Rogers now unable to see the incoming, stumbles forward, taking, taking, taking.

R10: Mimi crouches in and takes a HUGE lead right off the forehead to open the round. Rogers’ straighten, meanders to one side as Nicole steps in and cracks another right hand almost from behind the brunette. It’s overkill as Mimi was heading down anyway, but the tap-in seals the deal. Rogers on her face, butt in the air as her legs churn dreamily gives up the KO to a very dominant Nicole Kidman.

After: Mimi Rogers gave more than anyone could have expected, but was simply out-womaned by the gangly Aussie. The Commonwealth girls celebrate in the aisles with the tournament wrapped up, but there’s one fight left, and it’s for pride.
