Before: Carey not expected to struggle with fit, but badly trained Adams. Red jockey two piece for Carey. Purple silk camisole and panties for Adams.

During R1: Adams wears a frightened expression, but fear feeds her fists, and Carey is surprised to see Adams winging girlish punches back at her. Adams wildness fights Carey to a standstill for much ot this round, until the heavier American slugs at the gut of the Brit to finally take the initiative. Spirited, if undisciplined round by both girls.

R2: More toe to toe action as Carey finds herself repeatedly slapped in the face by Adams’m unstructured, but plentiful punching. Mariah stings Adams on occasion with a well schooled hook, but can’t really find a rhythm. The final minute sees comical holding and fouling, with both women ending up on the canvas in tangled limbs.

R3: As sloppy as the rest, but early in the round, Adams bounces a lucky right hand off Carey’s face, buckling the American’s legs. Shocked, Mariah backpedals to the ropes as Victoria lunges forward, both arms windmilling. Dams scores several more looping lefts and rights as Mariah looks amateurish with her back to the ropes, taking more punches than she should. Carey comes back strong in the final minute and pushes Adams across the ring, but Mariah has a bleeding nose and bruised ego going back to her corner.

R4: Oh yeah, the jab! Mariah actually uses the stick to control Adams, and Victoria obliges by constantly running into the punch with her face. Mariah able to settle down, mess up Adams’ face with stiff left hands, and at least attempt to put together punches in combination, Adams looking winded—she’s spent a lot of energy for very little.

R5: Carey in command, starts moving Adams back with hard one-twos to the face. Victoria is a mess as straight punches land flush time and again, and it’s apparent she hasn’t got a clue what to do about it. From a standing start, Carey steps into a lunging right hand to the chin and sweeps Adams to the canvas for a picturesque knockdown in the first minute. Adams game, gets up, but she’s reeling, hands at chest height, eyes beginning to dim. Mariah moves in, intensely focused as she pops the jab, seemingly fascinated with the drowsy motion of Adams’ head in response. Another straight right cracks Vicki’s head back, and she wanders away, turning her back on Carey as the American surges forward. Adams cowers on the ropes as Mariah clubs away, often connecting with the sides of her fists in a hammering motion, or illegally pounding the kidneys of the Brit as she turtles. Ugly, one sided round ends with Adams on her feet, but she promptly quits on her stool during the break. TKO for Mariah in 5 of the sloppiest
