Part 1:

Before: Future of the division meets it's present: just a question of how long Jennifer can hold Evangeline down. "I've always said that Lilly was the most impressive of the young fighters coming up," Connelly offers in prefight. "She reminds me of a Dushku with more muscle - she's got that kind of promise. She challenges me - I enjoy that - I know that if I'm not clicking on all cylinders when we meet, this young lady is perfectly capable of upsetting me. I don't think she's quite ready to take her place at my side - she's definitely a full step behind still - but Evangeline's someone I always take extra special precautions for in camp."

Lilly prim at the dais, hands folding on the tabletop in front of her: she's blunt, forthright in answering Jennifer's courtesy. "I'm going to knock Jennifer Connelly out," Lilly states clearly for the record. "I'm tired of coming in second to her - the Jennifer Connelly era is over, and I'm going to be the one who writes the epitaph. I'm guaranteeing a win over Jennifer to put pressure on myself: I want no excuses this time. I'm stepping up and taking her out - end of story." Jen looking gobsmacked - Lilly throwing down the gauntlet Rachel Mac style for this fight, returning Jen's compliments with steely resolve.

Lilly in green jogging bikini, slick battle braid. Jennifer in white string bikini, shoulder-length curls. Small white gloves, Jen: small black gloves, Evangeline.

R1: Steady bob-and-weave pressure applied by 'Vangie: stiff, stubby jabs, jamming right hands, ripping hooks issued by encroaching brunette. Connelly showing respect, fading back, sidestepping, sticking Lilly with the jab before stepping out of range. Lilly consistently on the attack, but Jen steals the round with a gorgeous, ripping little right uppercut which shakes Evangeline's legs in the middle minute. Lilly gobbles it, shakes it off, and keeps coming - but Connelly legs out the round, knowing she's got the points.

R2: Lilly shakes off poke, goes right back on the attack. Very uptempo approach - Evangeline moving her head, moving her hands, bouncing on the balls of her feet, doubling up her jab, looking to scoot-in off it and hook. Connelly fighting brilliantly in retreat - spreading Lilly out with the jab, denying Evangeline power-position at the ropes, using the ring: it's classic bull/matadora stuff. Midway through, Connelly fading back walks 'Vange into another of those cute counter-right uppercuts bingo on the chin: slight stagger, moment of panic from Lilly as she stumbles around regrouping. After two rounds, Lilly's controlled 4 of the 6 minutes, but Connelly's taken all the points in selective, veteran fashion.

R3: See what respect gets you? Lilly a little less assertive, keeping her dukes close at her chin, bobbing and weaving but not punching as much: Connelly starts to work Evangeline over from outside. Chipping, chiselling jab scrapes off the top of 'Vangie's skull, or nibbles at her brow as Jen's circling in either direction. Pulsing straight rights off the shoulder punch into Lilly's forehead as she's stooping forward, just greeting her midring. Jen hooking off the jab at times, dropping her right hand through the middle in pleasing 3 punch tic-tac-toe sessions - then she's steppin' nimble to the side, turning Lilly. Shutout Connelly - fighting her fight through 3.

R4: Lilly getting a pep talk in her corner - responds with vigour in the first minute: stomping pressure hounds Connelly to ropes where she takes a few cudgelling blows to her ribs on either side. Jen going to the right uppercut/pivot-right routine to spin off the ropes - back at midring she regains initiative behind that Oscar-winning jab, just pin-cushioning Lilly's forehead. Down the stretch, Evangeline bobbig, weaving, crossing her arms and frowning: Connelly dictates distance and terms, circling behind her stick, threatening Lilly with uppercuts only to strap the canuck loud hooks across firm belly.

R5: Evangeline's been outclassed for 4 rounds but shows her mettle: no sign of discouragement as she presses Jennifer harder than ever this round. Connelly's back finally touching ropes as Lilly penetrates to fight off Jen's chest. 'Vange making the decision to be very rough with her head - shoving her noggin between Jen's gloves, butting Jen under her eyes, pushing Jen's face aside with noggin-under-chin leverage. Lilly establishing that trip-hammer attack to the ribcage she's famous for: constant short, cudgelling digs - gloves bouncing off meat in varying patterns, occasionally coming upstairs to tap chin or clout cheek. Connelly grimacing, cupping her hands around Lilly's ears whenever possible, pulling 'Vangie's head down - answering back the occasional rangy blow to the body in hopes of tiring the young slugging machine out. Evangeline on the board: she's paid the price to get on top.

R6: Hard scrappin' - Jen tucking her chin, giving ground grudgingly, walking Lilly into clouting lefts and rights en route to ropes. At ropes, Lilly takes over - thrusting in with her head - palming at Jen's inner-elbows or knuckling at her shoulders to square her up - then chugging away at the goods. Thumping beatdown administered - Connelly stacked up butt-in-ropes, soaking like a trooper as she tries to control Lilly's head and keep the work below the clavicle. Lilly strong on Jen to the bell, scouring the ribcage and flat, pale tummy: Connelly doing a good job protecting her chin from Lilly's clobbering assault.

R7: Jen regroups - more leg, more lateral movement creating breathing room. Connelly's eyes narrowed in concentration - she can't make the slightest mistake here - timing has to be perfect to keep Lilly off balance. Evangeline trying to encroach, trying to cut off the ring, bending at the waist in rapid bobs to slip Jen's poke - real chessmatch midring as both girls try to get what they want. Connelly retains initiative - she's turning Lilly's flanks, dotting her with one-twos, pivoting away from receipts. Late the round, Jen even gambles on her front foot to propel a rising left up into Lilly's sternum, bringing the Connelly corner to it's feet: they've been on Jen from the first to work Lilly's midsection and wick some of the vigour out of Evangeline.

R8: Brisk back and forth continues - Jen's jab, legs buying her distance and ring position. At range, Lilly can make herself hard to hit, but she can't really get anything done offensively: she's forced to come forward, constantly angling for Jen's rigid rib cage. Connelly turning her foe, keeping the action midring - Jen not doing much damage, but pre-empting, bluffing, and confusing her girl enough to deny Lilly advantage. Jen looking to brace on her front foot and hook at Lilly's body, but very seldom going through with it: Connelly wary of getting close enough and opening herself up to Lilly's onslaught in close.

R9: Lilly's youth, tireless pace starts to tell: Jennifer forced to the apron where she sets up peek-a-boo to negotiate the pressure. Lilly in with her head - scrubbing and bumping at Jen's face. Lilly working underneath, shrugging, chugging, ringadingdong punching as fists sample the Connelly ribs and waistline in tic-tac-toe patterns. Connelly gasping, pulling down on 'Vangie's head, even dipping a shoulder and answering back lanky to quivering Lilly paunch - good spicy give and take gets the crowd roaring. Connelly spirited, stubborn under attack, but this is Evangeline's fight - she grinds the points out of Jen in the 9th.

R10: Jen tries the right uppercut from too far out: Lilly steps into it, sweeping a savage overhand right onto Connelly's face in exchange and JENNIFER GOES DOWN! Crowd roaring to it's feet as Jen stretches onto her back - Lilly bellowing down, lifting her mitts and strutting to neutral corner. Connelly SHAKY getting to her feet, but she fights off the haymaker: eyes glassy, limbs ragged as she assures the ref she's good. ON COMES LILLY! Evangeline one of those girls who generate tremendous volume without losing form - she tears at the remains of Jen with brisk, tidy lefts and rights, always bobbing and weaving her torso as she digs away. Jen shuddering under the body blasts, head torquing side to side as Lilly comes off the tummy to club at either jawline or temple - just a rude, brutal beatdown sitting Connelly in stupor against the ropes. Breasts? Evangeline harvests Connelly's rack with a series of hoisting, underslung lefts and rights as poor Jen's stooping forward - Evangeline grunting with the effort of walloping Connelly's hooters. Torrid thumping continues to the midsection as a swooning Connelly wraps her arms around Lilly's head late and leans back into ropes: Jen just numb, soaking it up AND CONNELLY'S KNEES GIVE WAY! Jen sinking to her haunches, mouth wide open, knuckles on the canvas. Lilly hops back, screaming in triumph - bell sounds to save the day as Jen is helped back to her corner. Comes back a tractorpull special: A DRAW as Evangeline puts both hands on her head in shock at the announcement.

After: Hurried conference between FCBA officials, members of both stables - offer on the table to both Tech and Bonzo for a decisive eleventh round to be fought. Has to be unanimous agreement (Here's what we'll do: Both managers reply to this thread - if ok'd, I'll do the deciding round this weekend - we'll say it happened right then and there, no time lag. You might want to EMAIL me your decision rather than posting it: don't want to give the other manager more info than he needs - but whatever method is fine by me. If I don't see a response, or if it's not unanimous - draw stands. Jen's hurt and will be slightly disadvantaged in the 11th - so she might want to limp out of here with a draw. But it's not a foregone conclusion that an 11th round is good for Lilly - she obviously finished the fight the stronger vixen - she can brag about that going away rather than risking a Connelly last-ditch uprising in the 11th. Up to you guys - if you both say 'yes', we'll fight an 11th and deciding round.) simguy
