Before: Both girls looking to bounce back after devastating losses at the hands of hated rivals. Connelly upbeat, undeterred by Daniel's emergence at her expense. "I'm still looking for the best lightweight competition I can find," says the irrepressible brunette. "Zeta Jones really battered Brittany when they fought, so obviously a win for me here puts Daniel in perspective." Zeta J dismissing rumours the Bell loss has given Krusher mgmt itchy trigger fingers. "I don't concern myself with such matters," Jones breezes. "With the sorry display put forth by Charlize against that hag Ryan, I should think my standing within the firm is rock solid." Connelly in navy sports bra, messy ponytail, red bikini trunks, CZJ in red bikini.

During R1: Zeta J boxing crisp, hooking off the jab, swivelling hsarp around Jenny's right flanks with precise pivots. Connelly emphasizing defence, blocking shots on a high guard, parrying the jab with an open right hand. Jones busier, takes a tactical first by default.

R2: Jennifer a non-believer in Jones' gut - Connelly going there with gusto this round. Zeta J grimacing, clinching after spanking hooks check her rightside ribs and belly. Not much offence from Cahterine - she's getting hit, bodying up, walking her girl to ropes and holding her there for breaks.

R3: Duel at midring, girls boxing classy in a clockwise rotation. Women alert, feinting each other, tapping each other body and face with doubled-up sticks. Jones getting the better of it late, but Connelly's surprisingly comfortable matching wits with the master.

R4: Pundits didn't think they'd see this: Connelly outboxing Jones midring. JC sharp, getting off first, pre-empting Zeta J with stiff stick body and head. Jones blocking the hook with her high right, but she's routinely surprised by a stubby straight right on the jaw. Classy shutout JC - not hurting her girl, but patiently breaking her down, getting the touches.

R5: Competitive round, but Connelly a step quicker, timing her jab better, and spanking face with rude right hands straight from the shoulder. Jones huffy and glaring at the bell - left eye swelling up nicely, ribs achy: Jennifer's doing good work.

R6: Jones making a conscientious effort to use her size, falling in behind slinging right hands, walking Jen to ropes and working out of the wrap. CZJ brutally effective, reaching in either arm under one of Jen's, punishing Connelly's ribcage with the free mitt. Connelly struggling to cover, but the bullying, holding and hitting has her hurting on the strands. End of the round, Zeta Jones lowering her head to Connelly's upper chest and thumping away downstairs - CZJ gets cheap at the bell as a left hook strays low. Connelly outraged - ref berating Jones en route to her corner.

R7: CZJ under fire, back to the ropes, desperately turning her shoulders, moving her head to slip stinging jab-hook combos from feisty Jen. End of min.1 - CZJ dips and digs hook to crotch, then she digs AGAIN! Crowd groaning in sympathy as Connelly turns away in pain - ref pushing Jones back and issuing stern rebuke. JC says she's OK, but she's visibly slowed - CZJ over to the offensive. Jones sliding inside Jenny's jab, jerks the counter left uppercut BINGO to the chin, puts a right hand on top and CONNELLY'S HURT! Jennifer clinching, getting muscled back against the ropes. Connelly covering up, stooping forward at the waist - Jones mopping up, snapping punches off her girl's pale flanks.

R8: Jones consolidating - she's getting her range, fitting left hooks and uppercuts firm to belly and chin. CZJ snapping her fists back sharp to reload - the intensity's back. Jones using her size, reaching under Jenny's arms and chesting her to the ropes - JC gritting her teeth slugging back in spots, but she's wearing down. Jones bangs out the round, but punctuates honest hard work with a flagrant, heinous low blow at the bell, snapping the hook off Jenny's trunks! CZJ swishing away all supreme - Connelly sinking to one knee, sobbing in outrage after the break.

R9: Gritty Jen won't be run out of the ring - she digs in, back to ropes, toe to toe. Both girls hunched forward into one another, arms crossed against bodies, each taking turns snatching at one another's chins, tummies and ribs. Uppercuts, hooks, constant nudging and shoulder-bumping - all nice and tight, professional delivery from both women. Judges like the way Jones is stacking Connelly up at the ropes in an otherwise very close heat.

R10: Really the only one-sided round of the fight - Catherine Zeta Jones closes the show strong on Jennifer. Similar look as the 9th, girls stationary, arms crossed against bodies, but it's CZJ getting off, beating a tune on her unresponsive foe. Jones dig-digging double hooks to the body, dipping to the other side to work the right hand. Coming off the body to club Jen about the temples or jaw, picking her face up clipping right uppercuts. Connelly sullen, taking mute, turning her torso slightly left or right to help blunt the incoming. AT the bell, Jones hooting in triumph as she lifts her mitts - Jennifer pasty faced, beat up as she slouches away. Comes back UD10 Catherine Zeta Jones.

After: Connelly: "First, Catherine Zeta Jones fought as a welterweight tonight - we don't call her 'chubs' for nothing. She made weight at 129, but she was comfortably over that come fight night. And second, anyone could tell I was outboxing her through 5 - easy. Everything was working beautifully until she got cheap. I never thought she would stoop that low to hack out a win, but I was wrong. That's the worst cheating I've ever seen in this division. Appalling!" Jones lumped up but grinning - she assesses her work on the evening: "I gave the girl a rich beating and it's only natural that she seek excuses. If I drifted low on occasion - and that's a BIG if; I'll have to check the tape - it was purely unintentional. I'm sure she hit me low several times in the heat of battle, but it's not the sort of thing I complain about."
