Before: Mrod basking in championship glow, acting every inch the queen as she snubs Hu, Dushku et al for a legitimate, though obviously weaker Tiff Thiessen. “Hey--I seen Tiffany punch, I seen Tiffany work,” Rodriguez says, “to me they’re all the same. You make damn good money off a Tiffany Thiessen fight--you can’t blame me for lining my pockets while I let these chumps cool their jets.” Thiessen in navy sports bra, pale blue boy cut trunks, white shoes, Mrod in wet black leather bikini, black shoes, slick ponytail.

During R1: Thiessen the aggressor, measuring her foe with the jab, then getting her shoulder behind short, meaningful hooks. Mrod bobbing and weaving early, trying to negotiate her range, but when she does. Tiff hurt, Thiessen down off an exchange of hooks at the midway point, down again her 8 cont to a furious barrage of hooks and right hands at Rodriguez bullies her at the ropes. BIG head snap Thiessen--mouthpiece flying through the ropes--she’s out on her feet and keels over to crash into her side a w dramatic dead-cat bounce, Tff not getting up--thundering KO2 Michelle Rodriguez.

After: Mrod dispelling all thoughts of a one-and-out reign--she demolishes the heretofore combative and very tough Tiff Thiessen without breaking a sweat. “Don’ worry that I’m not fighting your top names just yet,” says Michelle, “Just line’em up--I might have to have a few opponents on standby in the dressing room, you know, for nights like this.”
