Before: Berry giving Jolene the big-star treatment, showing up late for press conferences, inconveniencing Blalock at every turn--all part of the battle as Halle works her opponent over psychologically with pure celebrity. At the dais, “You look at Jolene,” says Halle, :and you instinctively know what to do. You have to go to the slender waist of hers, chop her in half, Jolene’s got big whippy power at bantam, but she’s not durable. I’ll pressure her to the gut, wear her out, and frankly, I don’t think she’s going to be able to connect against my defense.” Blalock shaking her head in amusement, “Halle’s showing signs of head trauma. She’s pushing 40 and she thinks she’s got the reflexes of an 18 year old. During r1: Berry looking to edge in and rip off combinations, but Blalock managing her foe beautifully with the jab, Jolene standing tall, piston stick off the hip, rocking onto her back foot to create distance, stepping heel-and-toe with her front foot--she’s keeping Berry well to the outside. End of minute one--picturesque stabbing jab sets Halle up--crashing right cross cleaves her jaw, swings her head to the side--poor Halle’s hurt! Berry stagger-stepping away, mouth open, eyes fearful-=-Jolene’s stepping her down lanky-leg. Blalock up-tempoing,  fixing Halle with the jab, slinging right hands against the guard, then licking that Hearns hook up against the ribs--Halle’s not liking those body shots, backing away with quivering lips, shaky legs. Final minute a blistering, savage all-out  assault along the ropes, Halle stunned, back against the ropes, stiff with hurt, bending slowly at the waist, dukes at her temples and Jolene’s just BOMBING away! Blalock stone-faced, leaning into crashing rights, shifting her hips to lock home the hook, stepping with as Halle wilts t her right, finally ending up in the corner. Ref looking on in mute astonishment as Jolene keeps SHOVELING it on! Blalock pounding back Halle’s drowsy face with flush, shattering rights, then extending her left to prop the battered beauty up, looking at the ref, waiting, then forced to keep shelling as the man thinks Halle’s still got something, Seconds left and FINALLY, ref steps in to shelter the ruined husk of Halle Berry. Frightening TKO1 Jolene Blalock.

After: Jolene back on the map with her most devastating punching performance since destroying Neve Campbell in similar fashion. Halle just never getting on track, hurt early, dismantled professionally and taken out with sickening power--she gets hung up in the corner to take more punishment than anyone could have wished for her. Referee suspended pending investigation--”I felt that, as a former champion, Halle Berry could come back at any time,” guy says with a straight face in post fight, “I thought she was playing possum,” More like playing road kill--that’s what standing 8’s are for, bozo.
