Beyonce's toned it down a little in prefight - conscious of having been dominated and outboxed by girls she had figured to steamroll - she lets Jessica do most of the speculating in the press. By the time this fight was over, Knowles had demolished one of the most promising of the upstart junior lightweights, re-establishing herself as one of the division's most kinetic punchers in the process.

It started predictably enough - Knowles mounting jiggly rushes in the first minute of the first two rounds, swinging wildly and panicking Biel into headlong retreat. As the rounds progressed, the heady brunette got her feet under her, got her distance and started marking Beyonce up the jab. AFter 2, Knowles was breathing hard, having swung for the fences only to strike out more often than not - the fight was settling into a comfy Biel-boxing rhythm. The comfort would last about 30 seconds into the third round as Jessica faded to the ropes, feinted, looked to turn to her left and took a shattering right hand across the cheek. Biel crashed to her back parallel to the ropes, hands still in the air, twitching electrically as Beyonce stomped angry-butt to her corner. Gambling all or nothing stuff from Knowles - pays off in dramatic fashion - she would have been running on empty after the fifth.
