Laura ends the suspense pretty early in this one. Trisha had shown some big-woman ability against the similarly built Kirstie Alley, but again, a mobile, young rangy welterweight, Yearwood simply had no answers. Prepon stepped patiently around her foe, rifling right crosses off the jab, and a particularly devastating slant-right hand down into the pale plush of Trisha’s gut to steadily dismantle her bulky foe from the outside. Yearwood—hands up, palms out—offered little I the way of offense, nothing in the way of ring generalship, and ultimately, her stationary come-and-get-me approach proved hopelessly incapable of dealing with Prepon. On occasions when Laura tied up for breaks on the inside—Trisha cooperated, accepting the clinch instead of working, thereby throwing away her only chance to compete. As for Prepon, we learned nothing about her we didn’t already know, but she gets to showcase her rangy power punching and posts a dominant-as-expected outing—proving she can deliver as the favourite.
