Before: Kelly M coming to prominence with a shocking upset over Alyssa Milano, had the door slammed on a promising rookie season by Sarah Michelle Gellar. Now Kelly’s looking to re-establish her promising ingénue status against another favoured blonde flyweight. Monaco baited Shakira mercilessly in prefight, referring to Shak’s “boyish” chest and getting the desired result—red faced Colombian repeatedly held back by her entourage—they’re as used to her uncontrolled charged as guards on Springer.

During R1: Monaco’s psyche job pays off early as Shak storms straight into a pitching contest. Kelly gets the rhythm—slightly rising lefts and straight rights repeatedly beating Shakira’s clubbing lefts and rights—blonde taking it tough on her face. Shakira stubborn, not making adjustments, just determined to outpunch Kelly, but it’s not working. Monaco very quick mitted, slugging furiously from a wide stance and she’s backing shak up in heartless exchanges. Shakira starts to land late, remembering to drop the hook into her girl’s liver—body shots finally dousing a little of Kelly’s flame at the bell. During the break, Shakira read the riot act—first round was pure amateur hour and she’s better than that.

R2: Shak doing everything right this round. Kelly still looking to plant and pitch, but blonde moving her head now, not facing into the blows or cooperating. Shakira issuing a stubby jab, fitting it easily in between Kelly’s haymakers—brunette’s slugging rhythm hopelessly derailed as she gets her face spanked. Once Shak’s got order imposed, she bears down, going back to the lover on Monaco with double and triple hooks, using the left elbow to shove little brunette back—Kelly’s looking ramshackle as she is bullied to the ropes. Second minute a withering beatdown—she’s getting underneath her girl shoving Kelly upright, then roaring to the breadbasket hammering those bulging tits with Latina intensity. It’s too much for Monaco—punches have the brunette weak in the knees—she’s drooping forward to clinch—Shak steps back to let her foe pool at her feet. Kelly on her haunches, awake, but numb—she lets the 10 count pass her by as tears well up in those big brown eyes. KO2 Shakira.

After: Shakira stomping around her fallen opponent, shouting in Spanish, being pushed back by officials—she’s seething with vindication. Upon recovery—Monaco taken for a blubbery walk of shame—Shakira’s standing policy to treat her opponents poorly goes double in Kelly’s case. “I shut her up!” boasts Shakira in postfight—probably one of the most dramatic tactical turn arounds we’ll ever see, as Shak goes from tough woman to skilled pro in 2 rounds.
