1. Liting Wong versus Celine Tan (Flyweight)

BEFORE:
Lots to like in this fourth scouting mission held indoors at VIX Headquarters, with six fighters set to go ten rounds at three different weights. This year we’re featuring new fighters from East Asia, all the way around the world from China, South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore.

First up are two keyboard warriors who have made their fame on social media, with a combined following of two-hundred thousand on Instagram, and counting. With the Covid situation ravaging parts of the world, the VIX gym is a little sparse in terms of attendance. But that’s okay, with both ladies making final preparations near the base of the ring and this opportunity at the big leagues more important than an arena filled with fans.

Wong walks up the steps first in a black bikini top and white denim hot pants, strapping on red gloves in her corner as she eyes her opponent with mild apprehension. Celine taking her time going up the other side, sets Wong with a steady glare before she enters the ring. She’s wearing a low-cut white singlet, hot denim short shorts, tightening black gloves onto both fists.

Ladies meet in the center as the referee goes through the official rules. They’re almost the same height and build, hands on hips as they shift from one foot to the next. Call to touch gloves however goes unheard, with some gasps from the audience that there’s beef this early between the two. Moments later, they’re back in corners, just waiting for the bell. HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
Slow start as both ladies circle. They're some of the smallest women we've tested out inside the ring, which means they're both agile and keeping their targets small. Wong lashes out a little more often, firing punches into Celine's face, the Malaysian a little too slow, too fresh to intercept. First round for fresh newbies is always a slower affair, with both women still testing their sea-legs as they replicate what they've learnt in the gym. Celine scores back in the final minute, left hand rammed into the lips then firing off a final flurry to end the round, but Wong manages to fend it off with her raised arms.

ROUND 2:
Celine goes on the offensive, feet moving a little more confidently forward as she slams a hard punch into Wong's face early. Liting gasping out loud, slightly wobbled, rapidly blocks out the light as she absorbs more of Celine's blows to the arms. Tan going in full, it seems, a classic rookie mistake if we ever saw one. But it works this time with the equally green Liting forced backwards from the barrage of blows: her arms battered left and right, then tummy tucked in low with a right hook. Last minute and both women left drained early in this fight, with Liting gasping near the ropes and Celine also catching her breath.

ROUND 3:
We're glad however to see this much action from a pair of rookies. Tan continues her offensive, perhaps sensing an early and dominant win to impress the judges and the stable staff. She smashes another hard cross right into Tan's arms, making her grunt out loud. Celine not afraid to crowd in close, using her height advantage to rock the side of the head before turning to Liting's body, hard thumping action as she falls back on slamming mitts in like a punching bag. Liting no choice but to try and clinch, arms wrapped around the waist as she uses her weight to pin Celine back to the ropes. Good strategy right there as the Singaporean averts disaster.

ROUND 4:
All that energy however has left Celine drained, panting hard as she takes small steps out of the corner. So far, an impressive performance from the native Malaysian, who according to records has a firm background in gymnastics and cheerleading. That might explain her solid physique as she tries a third time to take Wong down. But Liting no slouch either, now barreling forward in a counteroffensive.she rocks Celine across the arms before either of them get started, throwing the winded girl into the r1o the ropes. Tan scrambling to maintain balance, has double difficulty of fending off Liting’s continued attacks as the Singaporean charges in for some payback. Celine gets rocked to the body, upper torso thrown about by another pair of hooks before she manages to scoot out of range. Ladies are dead even in terms of points as the rest of this round is spent jabbing at each other from afar.

ROUND 5:
Celine suddenly on a downward trajectory, grunting as she tries to keep up with Liting’s pace. Wong not about to let her go so easily, chases her about the ring whilst landing stiff shots to her arms, the occasional fist buried straight into the tummy. Celine resetting at distance, blocks another incoming straight hand before BLASTING Liting back in the face! OUCH! Liting has a shocked expression on her face as she stands rooted to the spot, with Celine bashing a left hand on her chest before landing another right on the chin. Wong beaten backwards as she tries to rally, and the two ladies exchange rapid flurries and grunts near the ropes, neither of them willing to give ground. Liting swerves back to avoid a hook before clipping Tan on the chin. But she herself gets roasted with a snap uppercut to the chin before the bell rings to end the round.

ROUND 6:
This rookie fight is turning out to be interesting as these two continue to put in their 110% into their very first battle. Celine with a first-minute comeback, scooting forward and then landing a straight hand into the arms, trying to scare Liting off. But Wong ain’t biting, absorbs the attack and then SOCKS her right back on the nose! Celine lets out a dull grunt as Liting’s combination of power and speed means she squeezes in a few more jabs to the mouth before Tan covers up. The Malaysian already staggered back but gets chased by her foe, Wong smelling blood as she fires and lets fly whatever she has left in the tank! Celine gets PASTED by another side swing to the face, lips parted in shock as she COLLAPSES down to her side! It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Wong Liting! The Singaporean is panting hard above, taking time to register her own feat, but the referee quickly shoves her off and begins the count. Tan is not doing well, eyes half-filled with tears as she tries to crawl her way to the ropes, but her head’s swimming all the way to the count of 10 as she heard the dreaded final bell! It’s over!!

Official Decision: Liting Wong defeats Celine Tan via KO6!

AFTER:
Arms thrown into the air for Liting as she wins her first official fight! The lanky girl is not just looks but all that time in the gym has paid off as well as she parades around the ring as though she’s already a big name in the business.

Celine still sprawled by the ropes, seated with her chest beating fast. She bristles as Liting approaches to rub her victory in.

“How’s the view from down there?” Liting asks with a grin.

“f*ck off, b*tch,” Celine spits back, but instantly regrets it.

Liting lunging at her from above, grabbing her by the hair and pulls her up whilst hissing into her face.

“Say that again, b*tch?” Wong shouts, tossing her head about even as Celine shrieks in pain.

But Celine has the last laugh after bashing a glove into Liting’s tummy, bowling her over with a hnggh! Tan surges forward, tackling her former foe to the ground, and the match officially ends with more drama than we started with, with the two girls rolling about the ring whilst continuing to swing fists at each other.

The ring officials have to intervene to, prying both screaming girls apart. Looks like regardless of whether these two get signed later on, a new rivalry has been borne!
