Intro:
The final bout of the first round of Diamond Boxing tournament fights sees Hollywood star Karen Gillan take on former BBU welterweight champion Bo Krsmanovic, here in the Fantasy Springs Casino in California.

Since joining the Fates Boxing stable Karen has found a new lease of life in the ring, defeating the likes of former FCBA champion Hilary Rhoda and top contender Karlie Kloss to earn her way into this tournament, she has some tournament experience with the welterweight revival tournament and a BBU title tournament, neither she won though.

Bo meanwhile has had a mixed run but tournaments she has done well in, in fact she has won a round robin tournament format before by winning the Contender Six tournament in the BBU back in 2019, going undefeated in that event before winning the BBU welterweight title in her next fight.

Now though both women have a big chance to breakout in the FCBA welterweight division, each is seen as one of the favourites to win this tournament, so a defeat here could be devastating to their chances of taking home the diamond encrusted boxing gloves that the winner receives.

Heading into the fight both women gave a few words to the FCBA Network on a closed set, just them, a camera crew and a stool for them to sit on as they gave their thoughts on the tournament and their opponent.

First up the Scottish lass Karen stepped into the room, sitting on the stool with a cheeky smile as she wore a white T-shirt with the Marvel "Avengers" on, along with black denim jeans.

"God I can't believe I am in this tournament, hell I can't believe a lot of things over the last few years, first being a barely known actress in England finding my way over to Hollywood, being in some of the biggest films in history, in the ring I thought I was done but I am back, feeling fresh and with a stable who are backing me to go all the way, I'm on cloud nine" Karen says as she looks to be buzzing in her seat.

Turning her attention to Bojana, Karen continues "what a way to start the tournament, I know everyone in it brings something different, some power, others speed, Bridget (Regan) more experience then maybe all of us combined, Bo though is tough as nails, I've spoken to some friends who have fought her, they all say the same things, she is like a tank that can soak up punishment before giving you it all back" Karen's expression still looks excited even by the prospect of finding someone so tough.

Laughing before she finishes "when has that stopped me, hell I am a fighter, I am going to the top and Bo will need her best to beat me, bring it on" waving to the camera to bring it on as if she is talking face to face with Bo.

Who is interviewed next wearing a white dress as the Serbian beauty sits on the stool with her own cheeky grin, even after a hard year she still has that excitable personality it seems.

"I love these tournaments so much! Getting to fight top competition each fight is the best way to sharpen my skills, I've proven I can win these type of tournaments because it isn't just about skill, this is about toughness and not losing your nerve when you are in trouble" Krsmanovic says with a knowing look.

"I see I have Karen first, I like her movies but this isn't some movie set, I hope she knows that when I first hit her it isn't going to be some soft tap, I am going to try knocking her out from bell one to the final bell, she will know why I am elite soon" adds Bo before she heads off.

Fight night, first out comes Karen with her coach Ana Beatriz Barros beside her, both smiling as they head down the aisle, Gillan supporters are cheering her as bagpipes play her down to the ring to make her feel at home.

She is wearing a red sports bra with gold trim, matching trunks and shoes, gold gloves, as her hair is tied back into a ponytail, she steps through the ropes into the ring, showing her respect to the crowd by bowing to each side of the ring.

Bo now heads out with her coach Nia Peeples, both look relaxed as now Bo's fans find their voice, she nods to the crowd with a smile, enjoying the love from her fans as she walks down the aisle.

She is wearing a bronze coloured sports bra, matching trunks, shoes and gloves, her hair is tied into a braid, Bo raising her right arm into the air to acknowledge her supporters before she steps into the ring, bouncing on her toes in her corner taping her cheeks to psyche herself up.

Coming to the center of the ring, both women stare at each other but they grin as they show no malice, instead they wish each other good luck as they respectfully fist bump their opponent, getting the last pieces of advice in their corner before the bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.

Round 1:
At the bell Karen is the more mobile looking on her toes, Bo more the puncher as they move around the ring, trading single punches as they try to get the fight they want, having the same range means they are landing at similar times.

Seeing her chance to rush Karen, Bo slams in a jab to the mouth of the redhead as she steps in after her, bashing back Gillan towards the ropes after dipping her head down nearly into the chin of her opponent, who is forced to fire back with the hard hitter.

Working each others bodies predominantly, Bo is getting the louder grunts from her opponent as she keeps her herded near the ropes, Karen trying to match the intensity of the Serbian fighter.

Using her left forearm against the chest of Krsmanovic, Karen is able to nudge a gap open that she uses to escape back to the ring center, slamming two punches into Bo's face right away to show a little of what she can do.

Karen now able to get her rhythm going with several combos landing as Bo hunts her down, the round comes to an end not long after, Karen nodding to Bojana as she knows this round past her by.

Round 2:
Starting off with a double jab, Karen is not wanting a repeat of the opener, using her footwork along with her sniper like jab, she is catching Bo to her face as the former champion is trying to close that gap.

Bojana manages to after dipping under a jab to hammer in two right hooks to the body, just grazing the chin of her opponent with an overhand left, pressing forwards to the delight of her corner as she looks in good shape so far.

But Karen soon nudges her back before ramming a double jab/straight into her face, Bo needing to tighten her guard as Karen is showing off her silky skills, the actress burying in more punches to the abs of Krsmanovic to keep her back.

Bo though won't be kept off too long, forcing the issue when she gets in closer, Karen has a stinging punch but Bo living up to her "Big Bo" nickname as she is hitting harder, knocking back Gillan in their exchanges with a mixture of hooks and some uppercuts.

The model though misses late on with a right hook, taking an uppercut to the body before Karen switches their positions, hammering back Bo to the ropes with four clean punches to her face before the bell rings, probably just doing enough to take this round as both women give the other a determined look to show they are here for the win no matter what.

Round 3:
Both women are slinging more punches in bunches, trying to get a handle on this fight as so far it has been a close affair, Bo getting in some good body shots but taking more cross punches to her face to make her retreat back.

Sidestepping Bo to her left, Karen lands a right over the top of her opponent's glove into her eye, Bo cries out as she takes a step back, whether it was the fist or the glove, there is some swelling around the left eye of Krsmanovic now.

Which Karen is trying to get at with her punches, Bo looks a little more frantic with her own attacks, trying to hurt Karen it seems to make sure the eye doesn't become a factor, problem is she is leaving herself open to counter punches to her face.

The redhead really for the first time in this fight looking in definite control, doubling up her jab as Bojana is shelling up more, allowing Gillan the freedom to pick her punches more as she sticks and moves.

Late on Krsmanovic does step in with a left hook to the body, there's a clash of heads as Karen tries to step back but Bo lunges with a straight that earns her a warning to keep her head up, Karen accepts the apology from Bo even if both are glaring at each other about it.

When the round ends Bo has her corner working on her eye, Nia yelling at her to keep her guard more tighter then she has been, Karen is getting told off Ana how great she looked there, pointing out though that Bo is a dangerous fighter.

Round 4:
Keeping her left nearer her eye, Bo is giving Karen some freedom early on to box around her, trying to make sure that eye doesn't get any worse as she flicks out some jabs, more straights as she tries to pin down the Hollywood star.

Bo manages to move in closer again leading with her head to complaints from the Fates corner, Bo hammering in more body shots as she presses back Karen around the ropes, making her groan out as she looks great on the inside.

Clinching up with Krsmanovic to stop her, Gillan is looking at the referee as Bo continues to press her head forwards, maybe hoping to catch Karen on her eyes or maybe bust her lips, the referee warns Bo after the break apart to stop that or lose a point.

Forcing the issue more in closer range, Bo is keeping Karen towards the ropes as she shows the fighting spirit that got her a title in her career, but Karen is landing in some good shots of her own to stop being overrun by the model.

Who takes a right hook across that eye when her left dips too low, there's a small cut now above the eyebrow of Bojana, who cries out as suddenly momentum swings back as the Scottish lass comes firing back into the face of her opponent.

At the bell it is all hands on deck it seems to patch up Bo, the ringside doctor watching closely as Bo's eye looks to be closing up, Nia looks close to ripping her hair out after warning her to keep her guard up.

Round 5:
Bo is coming forwards but Karen is sticking to that left side, landing some hooks around the guard of Krsmanovic to knock sweat with some blood off her head into the air, Nia looking close to throwing the towel in.

A left hook catches Bo flush on her chin, she wobbles towards the ropes as Karen comes after her, AN UPPERCUT SENDS BO'S HEAD BACK BEFORE SHE GOES DOWN TO HER BACK LOOKING AT THE LIGHTS THROUGH ONE GOOD EYE!

The crowd cheer as Karen pumps her right fist in the air on her way to the neutral corner, 1...2...3...4.. Bo blinks with her good eye while groaning, 5...6...7.. Nia looks down as she wonders whether she should have threw the towel in, 8...9...10 thankfully it seems the fight is over, Bo is out for the count!

Winner Karen Gillan KO Round 5

After:
Turning to the crowd with a big smile, Karen gets off to a big start against a possible contender for the title, Ana rushes into the ring to give her a massive hug, with both beaming as they talk about how great that went.

While Bo is slowly helped to sit upright, she looks a mess as her left eye is going to be one hell of a shiner, Nia apologizes for not throwing in the towel, Bo points out firmly that she'd prefer to go out fighting then to quit, which Nia looks like she wants to argue but simply nods, knowing how Bo feels from her own fighting days.

As Bo is helped up to her feet, Karen jogs over to her with her gloves off, telling Bojana "that was a fun fight, sorry about your eye" looking sincere as she gives Bo a big hug as an apology.

"You know I will want to fight you again as I am sure my eye is only reason you won" Bo says forthright as Karen just smiles, before telling her anytime fist bumping the model to make the pact of a possible rematch someday.

Bo is led out the ring so she can have more work done in the back, she waves to the crowd to show she'll be OK, even as Nia is needing to act as a crutch to help her walk up the aisle, this wasn't the start she wanted but never write Bo off in a tournament format.

The winner meanwhile gets her left hand raised by the referee, she blows a kiss to the crowd with her right, setting a good marker down tonight for the rest of this tournament with more heavy hitters to come her way.

For now Karen leaves the ring with Ana beside her, both joking about tonights celebrations as they head to the back, the rebirth of Karen in the ring continues on the right track to the top of the mountain.
