Before: Sigourney one of the all time great “coulda been a contender” stories, never really got involved in celebrity fight scene during her prime. Crawford ass technically gifted as any big girl out there, looks to establish herself on a par with Brooke Shields, Berkley et al with a convincing win. Cindy in light blue cotton tank top, cotton bottoms’ Sigourney in pea green tank top and bottoms.

During R1-4: Solid Cindy C performance as she goes about the business of reducing the big brunette with ruthless efficiency. Early in the first, Cindy nails Sigourney with a go-home right hand, and Weaver walks through it unscathed, prompting Crawford to box the rest of the away. And Box she does, not flashily, but pounding a hard left kab up the middle, following with the cross, and finishing with the hook lie she’s following instructions in a recipe book. Weaver shows all the signs of age and rust--not being able to pull the trigger when she sees openings, not being able to make Cindy miss. Crawford’s corner wants her to go to the body more, but otherwise, it’s a perfect opening half for Cindy.

R5: Sigourney gets on the board as she forces Cindy to trade inside. Weaver surprisingly strong, walks Crawford around the ring, and outwrestles her upstairs. Cindy gladly gives up the body to protect her head, and Weaver obliges with banging one-twos to the waist.

R6: Sigourney still throwing bombs, but she’s eating too much leather. Crawford not exactly nimble on her feet, but she’s precise, and she steps to the left, popping her jab, and puts that straight right into Weaver’s solar plexus with authority. Crawford running away on the scorecards as she banks another round.

R7-9: Sigourney chasing, just not busy enough, and she is badly outclassed in these rounds. Crawford content to stay outside, pecking away upstairs, then taking hard potshots at Sigourney’s body before cycling away. Weaver can’t get off, and her face looks shopworn after nine--Crawford’s frustrating style taking its toll on Sigourney’s psyche as well as body.

R10: Cindy C looks to get the crowd back on her sde, and she sets down on her punches to try to hurt Weaver. Sigourney obliges, and the two go toe to toe for one of the few times in the fight. Cindy just too well-schooled, starts clipping Weaver with the left hook as both stars let their hands go, and finally, Sigourney goes wobbly butt. Weaver breaks and tries to clinch, allowing Crawford to tee off, and Weaver stumbles to the ropes. Cindy content to paw and poke with hard rights to the bell, gets the win with a hugely one-sided decision.

After: Crawford executes a perfect game plan, undressing Wweaver with a clean effort. Not exactly crpwd pleasing, but Condy clearly more concerned about winning than putting on a show. Sad effort from Weaver, who soaked up Crawford’s best shots without complaint, but simply no longer has the reflexes. Jessica Lange’s people are calling for what could be a blockbuster Seniors tussle for Weaver.
