Before: Who’d  a thought 12 months ago that Janet Jones would be hand picked to make a reputation? But that’s the case as Carrere, on the verge of big PPV bouts for the first time in her overlooked career, take a dangerous tune up to prove a point, Jones the total package, recent inactivity almost a plus for a woman who had logged so much air time last year. Carrere in powder blue sports bra, white aerobics bottoms, Spanish ponytail, Jones in white aerobics two piece.

During r1: Cordial opening as girls touch gloves and show professional looks early. Jones immediately establishes that crunching jab, cracking back Tia’s face with stunning impacts as the blonde looks to manufacture runs. Carrere outside, snaking her torso, can’t get off, and Jones rolls up the shutout with straights lefts and rights to the bell.

R2: Carrere into the fight, jabbing the jabber, and curling a short right hand to Janet’s left eye. Girls box their way inside the final minute, where Joes proves surprisingly dominant. Turning Tia into the right hand. Jones flashes that all court polish that had her in boxing’s elite crowd last year.

R3:Tia winning the battle of jabs, working on the eyes and forcing Jones to keep her left at home. Carrere hooking off the jab, goes to Jones’ body and once again, the girls finish up cheek to cheek in the final minute. Jones outworking Tia on the inside, loses the round again, but earns Carrere’s respect as the Asian shakes her head in the way back to her corner.

R4: Tia wants to send a message and comes inside with fists at her cheeks. Girls slog toe to toe, leaning in on one another, using shoulders inside to open slivers of punching room, turning into short right hands to the ear and clipping left hooks to the mouth in brutal trench warfare. Carrere putting a jiggle in Janet’s legs on several occasions, finally puts the blonde’s back to the ropes. Round ends to the sound of Tia’s fists spanking against Jones’ firm torso at the bell.

R5: Jones won’t go away--up on her toes, she shows that tremendous ability to punch while moving, flicking out the kab, and swiping at Tia with rising left hooks while the blonde backpedals, Carrere shutout as Jones dazzles.

R6: : power boxing as the girls stand at middle distance, flat footed, trading banging combinations to the shoulders and head as each gets serious about stopping the other. Girls fall in together in the final minute, and Jones hooking Tia’s right arm, clouts Carrere across the breasts and mouth to take the round wirth great work effort late.

R7: Tia getting back to basics, punishing Jones’ eye with the jab, and coming over with straight right hands on the blonde’ sjaw. Tia jabbing to the left side of jones’ face to get Janet to turn her head to the right, opens up the angle for the right hands, and Jones looks a little discouraged at the bell.

R8: Tia again owns the pace between the fighters, jabbing Jones into a shell, then exploring those taut abs with whip-crack left hooks up the middle. Jones appears to be weathering the storm until her legs buckle. Tia lets out a happy cry and digs at Janet’s belly, forcing the blonde to clinch. Once again, Jones on the inside is snake-like, writhing against Carrere, making Tia miss, and countering effectively to at least get on the board.

R9: Tia touching Janet’s abs from outside with the left hook, has Jones preoccupied with the body. Carrere able to scorch Janet on that swollen eye with heavy right hands, and Jones goes wobbly butt. Janet shaken up, reaching to clinch, but Tia stepping back in good order, landing swiping lefts and rights to the body and face as Janet tumbles forward. Jones recovering her composure towards the end of the round, again able to body up and dig to Carrere’s midsection in mouth on shoulder slogging at the bell. Jones not winning enough of  these rounds despite finishing well.

R10: Janet showing great recuperative powers, soaking up those bombs in the 9th, and coming out sharp in the tenth. Eye tragically closed, Janet turns slugger and bangs Tia to the ropes, Girls clinch and tumble along the ropes from corner to corner, each working the other with opportunistic clubbing blows at intervals. Jones getting the upper hand in the final minute, has Tia sitting on a turnbuckle, pulls the brunette’s body forward by the shoulder, and bangs a short right uppercut off Carrere’s face to shake Tia up. Carrere showing veteran poise, clinches walks Jones out of the corner, and the round ends as the girls waltz at center ring. Decision: Unanimous Dike Tia Carrere.

After: As tough as advertised, but Carrere putting the hurt on Janet in the ninth to separate herself from the game blonde opponent. Jones using as much guile as athleticism in keeping pace with Carrere, but getting beat by the better woman in the night. Carrere comparing Jones favorable with Jaime Pressly, infers the Pressly fight, if it happens, will be a “piece of cake”.
