"I've been pushing for this one for a while, and I'm glad it's finally happening," explained Amy Acker in the days leading up to her match against Angelina Jolie. "First, she's talented, popular, and absolutely beautiful, so punching her lights out isn't just just good publicity, it's personally satisfying." Acker was not finished. "But she's also been kinda b###hy about who 'deserves' to be in the ring with her. You know, anyone less noteworthy than the most noteworthy woman gets dismissed. But this is a fight, not a popularity contest, so I get to prove her wrong and feel good doing it."

Angelina Jolie responded shortly before the fight with some amusement. "It's nice of Amy to acknowledge that her resume doesn't compare so well to mine. Lucky for her, this is a fight between two flesh and blood women, not two IMDB pages. Amy's gotten ready to fight my name, and that's going to change when I hit her."

Tickets sold out quickly due to the contentious remarks, and the venue attempted to play up the animosity by posing the two actresses in a staredown for the cameras. With Acker in white trunks and sports bra, and Jolie in similar athletic wear in silver, the two women facing each other inches apart with fists raised made quite the image. Of course, their confident attitudes highlighted something unspoken -- photos of the fight's results would likely get more attention in the days that followed.

Round 1:

Jolie came out swinging in the opening, only to absorb a jab to the face when her opponent weaved around the attack. Jolie rallied and tried again, but the story of the first few seconds repeated itself throughout the round; Acker would force a miss and punish her rival, or Jolie would be beaten to the punch entirely. Enduring blows continuously left Jolie looking weary even before the round ended, while when the bell rang Acker grinned and bounced back to her corner to celebrate.

Round 2:

With Jolie unlikely to survive another round like the first, Acker returned to the fight looking pleased with her odds. However, Jolie's adjustments during the break seemed to have saved the struggling fighter -- she managed, with difficulty, to keep the once dominant Acker at the edge of her reach, getting her share of hits in when the shorter actress tried to take the fight to her. While Acker was still hard to pin down and Jolie did not escape the round unscathed, the turnaround in Jolie's favor was big enough to get attention.

Round 3:

Jolie attempted more of the same in the third, putting a priority on avoiding a disaster like the first round, and squeezing hits in where she could. Acker was less cooperative this time, breaking through the taller brunette's defenses twice and making her life difficult each time, eventually forcing a clinch. General attrition gave the round to Jolie despite Acker's efforts, though it remained to be seen if it would be enough to give her a path to victory.

Round 4:

Acker finally figured out Jolie in the fourth round as her experience from the first three came fully into play. Baiting her rival into overextending, Acker's counter struck her in the jaw solidly, causing her eyes to widen and her guard to fall out of place. With Jolie in trouble, Acker went to work; the shorter brunette's fists finding their mark and bouncing Jolie about before she could respond. Jolie resisted throughout the round, but with several similar stumbles, each of which seemed to leave her less able to fight. Acker's corner avoided premature celebrations this time, keeping it serious to avoid another surprise from Jolie.

Round 5:

Jolie returned to the fight in the fifth despite predictions that she might do otherwise. Acker clearly intended to make her regret this decision, likely succeeding early on with a solid left right on Jolie's face, her weak response showing how little fight the taller actress had left in her. Jolie did her best, managing to swing back and delay the inevitable -- for under a minute. Once Acker got going, a combination ending in an uppercut left Jolie flailing about helplessly in a slow descent to the mat. Landing on her back, the tall brunette's limbs jiggled as her head slowly lolled to the side, mouth open. Motionless, Jolie demonstrated the final result without help from the judges or referee -- brutal KO5 Acker.

Eventually, Jolie had to be carried out, but not before Acker got the coveted photo -- one foot on the beaten actress' chest, both fists in the air. A combined crew of Jolie's entourage and the stadium staff managed to shoo the victorious fighter away shortly after, but the damage was done; the image got plenty of attention in the days following.

"It's all so hard to process. Even now I kind of don't believe it happened!" Days later, Amy Acker was still overcome with excitement over the win. "After pushing for this fight for a while, I sort of assumed that Angelina was just sort of untouchable. Then I heard the news that it was on, and I nodded and got ready, but I didn't really believe it on the inside until I saw her flat on her back. She's definitely in the running for my favorite trophy!"
