TENNIS BOXING FROM CINCINNATI

Posted by Vassago on August 22, 2015, 8:41 am

Event: Western & Southern Open

Venue: Lindner Family Tennis Center

Location: Mason near Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

BEFORE: Former world #1 Victoria Azarenka makes a long anticipated boxing comeback in Cincinnati tonight; the 26 year old Belarussian was last seen knocking Maria Sharapova out not once but TWICE back in 2012 before a serious foot injury derailed her plans to become the best tennis boxer of the current WTA generation:

"Well, after I knocked Maria out things got really hectic and other girls were simply scared of me back in 2013 in first place. And just when my agent was able to lure one or two of them into the ring, the damn foot injury sidelined me for the most of last year. So now I have to start all over again. But thankfully so does Caroline! I saw her at Roland Garros and well, she was really knocked about by Julia Goerges and lost in a fair battle. She's my friend off court BUT I still plan to celebrate my comeback with a juicy KO! Let's see if she's ready for my blows!"

"Of course I'm ready for Vika's blows!", Caroline responds with a big smile on her face to indicate she's all but forgotten the French Open horror show vs Goerges, "She looked the best of the lot back in 2012 when she absolutely smoked Sharapova BUT that was 2012, mind you! It's 2015 now and I don't think she's match fit at all. She'll need two or three fights to even become a threat let alone a favorite in one of these bouts! As much as I admire her Grand Slam victories, she's gonna end up face down on canvas tonight! Mark my words!"

Victoria Azarenka wears a white bikini top, red knickers and red gloves. Blonde hair tied in a long braid. Caroline Wozniacki wears a yellow bikini top, blue knickers and blue gloves. Blonde hair tied in a curly ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.

Round 1:

Azarenka's known for her aggressive style and she jumps on the Dane from the opening bell rendering Wozniacki's defensive tactics useless in the opening minute as a series of piercing jabs crashes into the face and whips Caroline on the back foot struggling to even stay in the exchange. Azarenka wastes no time whatsoever to indicate the lenghty lay off period didn't harm her otherwise elite performance and she enjoys looping more leather into Wozniacki's face leaving early bruises on the clearly overwhelmed Danish girl. Wozniacki barks in her efforts to halt the rout but fails to handle the high guard and sinks on her knees after a while with Victoria's punches making a devastating difference in the opening round wholesale. Caro has to seek cover in the final minut but the Belarussian's hungry for some punishment and ignores all the friendship between the two leaving Wozniacki staring at her in sheer disbelief at the bell, a pillar to post ultra agressive display from Azarenka has even caught the Cincinnati audience by surprise.

Round 2:

Caroline predicts another leather frenzy looming and reverts to her superior footwork to stay of out trouble and tease Vika into some kind of mistake but the counterpunching response never metarialises and in fact the Belarussian sticks more punches into her rival's face having visibly improved her movement across the canvas compared to when she was last seen here. Caroline is forced into a deep earmuff cover but Vika's comfortable with punching her ribcage and slowly but surely pushing her into the ropes where the Danish guard collapses alltogether and enables Azarenka to send a series of uppercuts that shuts Wozniacki's eyes and makes her squeal in pain as the ammount of blows increases with every second. Victoria settles into destruction mode and rocks the blonde ponytail back & forth as Caroline's trapped and unable to escape. She has to accept the punishment and sinks on jelly knees again, leans on Vika's shoulder gasping for air but eats a late flurry on the ribcage and barely survuves another incredible round from her opponent. Vika gives her a long look after the bell but can't hide that huge smile for long!

Round 3:

Wozniacki quickly loses the fighting spirit as she's simply unable to bother the rampant Vika who closes her down and enforces a leather trade-off she's always destined to dominate. Caroline feels like she has to get something going and finally sticks some punches into her rival's face but eats a faceful of blows herself and begins to wobble dangerously often on her legs as Azarenka whips a looping series on the temples to drop the Danish guard for good. Wozniacki leans on tne front foot but skids wide off the mark and gets whooped by a massive left hook on the jaw that is quickly followed by a right hand on the nose... Caroline loses her balance alltogether and CRASHES DOWN ON HER KNEES with a loud whimper as Victoria glares down at her with more smiles... she struts back to her corner and the Danish blonde just wants to avoid the disaster and shows some resistance by getting up at eight allthough still looking visibly shaken by that combo... Azarenka charges at her after the command and thumps immediate assault on the face pushing Wozniacki all the way to the ropes where she ignores the high guard and prefers to inflict more damage on the guts as Caroline is stung cold and can only scream out in pain with Vika showing her no mercy whatsoever and being unlucky not to enforce a stoppage late on when Wozniacki almost spit out her mouthpiece just to bide some time. Bell halts the Belarussian rout but the damage's been done already evident by Caroline's wobbly return to her corner.

Round 4:

Azarenka seeks to end the fight quickly and one has to wonder how badly Wozniacki misjudged the ultra aggressive approach that sends her into defensive circles within seconds of the bell however the elite footwork is nowhere to be seen anymore and the Danish blonde stumbles over her own feet in desperate escape to enable Vika crashing into her face with a brutal left/right combo on the nose. The guard collapses again and Azarenka finds a bolting uppercut that catches the aching Dane straight on the jaw and sends her CRASHING DOWN FLAT ON HER BACK... It's a hard fall for Caroline who simply covers up her face with both gloves and makes no effort to even beat the count... she's well aware Azarenka blew her apart tonight and there's no need to risk a serious injury with Vika looking so blood thirsty.... KO4 Victoria Azarenka!!!

AFTER: Vika's looked to announce herself back at the world stage in peerless fashion and that was as impressive as it gets against an otherwise so durable opponent. She might have whooped Wozniacki's ass here in Cincinnati but they still remain on friendly terms and once ref calls the bout, Victoria offers the fallen Dane a helping hand to lift her off the canvas and share a warm hug. Caroline indicates she's still a bit woozy after that beating she took and well, the drinks are on Vika tonight as both girls leave the ring talking to each other about future prospects mainly versus the chief arch rival Maria Sharapova. Plus Vika wants to know how on Earth Caroline lost to Julia Goerges of all people instead of taking revenge for the Stuttgart fiasco from four years back:

"It's just a bad match-up even on clay", Caro explains pointing that Sharapova has even worse trouble handling Serena Williams over the years. "At least I'm not the laughing stock of the town! Just wait for the US Open draw to come out! I'd love to pound that Russian ###### again!", "So would I", Victoria concludes the pouncing prospects as the atmosphere before the last Grand Slam of the year intensifies very quickly to keep all tennis fans & pundits glued to New York in a fortnight's time!

Final result: Victoria Azarenka def. Caroline Wozniacki KO4.
