AnnaLynne McCord vs. Vanessa Hudgens

(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

There are a few storylines in play here, but the biggest is the incident where McCord tossed Hudgen's stablemate, Ashley Tisdale, into the announcers' table after Lowndes defeated Hudgens. Medical personnel have still not cleared Tisdale to return to the ring, but she is at ringside tonight, to watch a focused Vanessa. "There's a line," says Hudgens with eyes as hard as you can imagine. "She crossed it."

"I think it's kind of cute," says AnnaLynne with a smirk, "Vanessa coming in here to get revenge for her little friend Ashley. The problem is, Vanessa's going to get her butt whipped. Then, maybe I'll toss her over the top rope into Tisdale's lap."

ROUND ONE:

No surprise regarding strategies early. The shorter Vanessa wants to move, jab, circle, dance, work the legs. McCord wants to use all that length to box at range, but, first, she has to run Vanessa to ground. And, as ever, that's not easy. Hudgens has wonderful legs and she's becoming better and better at using them as her career goes on. She bounces on her toes, changing direction, showing angles, sending sand flying, always in motion and never where McCord thinks she's going to be. AnnaLynne has clearly expected this and simply works her own long, lovely legs, stalking, looking to cut, snapping off long jabs at every opportunity. It's tactical stuff from bell to bell with neither girl committing on anything or getting anything much going. Instead, they maneuver for position, feel things out, get a sense of where opportunities might lie. At the bell, it's close, but Hudgens with her stick and move has gotten more done and claims the round and the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

AnnaLynne's done feeling out and she's upping the pressure. Hudgens remains on the move, but McCord doing a better job of cutting now. When she does so, however, she doesn't look to close, instead, she wants to box at range, using her length to land solid combinations on the brunette, forcing her to either close to fire back or try to slip away. Vanessa mostly chooses the latter, not wanting to engage in battle on McCord's terms, and that suits AnnaLynne just fine. The blonde's now getting work done and not having to pay much of a price for it, a pretty good deal if you can get it. Hudgens keeps things in good order, though. She keeps working the legs, continues to get jabs and the odd combination home when she can stop, pop, and get back on the move, bu#t it's McCord who's taking control of things, getting the terms she wants more and more often, and, at the bell, claiming the round to even the score at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Hudgens on the move, McCord looking to cut. Vanessa slippery, though. She's timing AnnaLynne extremely well, anticipating her movements, drawing her to places the brunette wants her to go, landing a quick one-two and then bouncing away before McCord can get off. Hudgens extremely slick in offsetting McCord's large reach advantage in this stanza. Everything needs to flow perfectly, and it does. McCord resolute. Not going to get frustrated. Using the "she can run but she can't hide" theory. And, Hudgen's can't hide. But, she's not exactly running. Just moving very well and not allowing McCord to get set and get punches put together. There are long lulls with very little punching as a result, then fast flurries that see lots of leather exchanged. But, this hit-and-run stuff is Vanessa's stuff, and that tells the tale on the cards when the round ends. It's solid for Hudgens, who's now back on the lead 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

McCord patiently stalking again in the fourth stanza. Bringing Vanessa to battle never easy when the athletic former champion doesn't want set piece action, and she doesn't want it tonight. Instead, she baits traps, tries to get McCord to over-extend, then takes advantage when the blonde does so, landing in combination before bouncing away to open canvas. AnnaLynne sticks to the plan, however. And, half way in, the plan pays off. She cuts the ring, traps Vanessa in a corner, and ROCKS her with a combination! Hudgens' legs give a shimmy and she's quickly up against the ropes where McCord goes all in, hammering away at the shorter girl with both hands, taking body as Vanessa covers up in a high guard, then going back upstairs looking for the 'off' switch. Hudgens takes the licking and keeps on ticking, but there are some scary moments as the brunette is wobbled several times and the referee seems about to step in. The bell sounds before that happens, however, and 'Nessa lives to fight another day. The round is to McCord wide, though, and the blonde has evened things at 38.

ROUND FIVE:

Surprisingly tactical stuff from AnnaLynne. McCord would seem to want to go after Vanessa in a big way now, but she's too smart for that. She senses early that Hudgens' legs, while not all the way back, have enough in them to thwart any unsound attacks. So, McCord doesn't make them. Instead, she does what a girl with the length advantage she has wants to do against a shorter opponent. She walks Vanessa down. With Hudgens not as mobile as she has been, McCord can square with the long left jab, and then back Vanessa up with the right. And, this is the strategy from the opening bell. Walk her down. Wear her down. Beat her up. Then, when the opportunity comes, finish her off. Hudgens game, showing angles. Moving better as the round goes on. But, these terms are now McCord's terms, and it's the blonde who's in control from bell to bell, claiming the round and the 48-47 lead.

ROUND SIX:

Things getting ugly for 'Nessa. McCord's in rhythm now, and, with Vanessa's legs reduced, she's got the brunette lined up perfectly much too often. The blonde cutting the ring easily, getting the left on target, banging home rights, backing up the brunette again and again. 'Nessa hanging in as best she can, firing back in counter, but it's the length that's doing for her. McCord's got the geometry down. She's keeping Hudgens on the end of her punches, meaning Vanessa's short on too many retorts. It's grim stuff for the brunette former champion, who's in slow retreat from the opening bell. Tisdale's screaming encouragement at ringside, but a look at the expression on Ashley's face shows she's as concerned as the corner that keeps shouting for Vanessa to move. But, McCord isn't allowing it. She's got the brunette right where she wants her and then, BOOM! DOWN GOES...ANNALYNNE??? Yes. DOWN GOES ANNALYNNE! One mistake. A little too much aggression. And McCord walks into a left hook. She wobbles, then is dropped by a straight right hand, crashing down into the sand. Tisdale out of her seat and screaming in delight. Crowd as gobsmacked as McCord, who struggles to her feet at eight. Referee waives 'Nessa on after the mandatory, but there's no time for clean up. The bell sounds almost immediately, but the complexion of the fight has changed in an instant. Vanessa's in the lead 57-56 after having stolen the round and McCord's momentum.

ROUND SEVEN:

Hudgens turns up the heat to eleven. It's obvious from the opening moments that McCord's still buzzed and Vanessa's going for the kill. She's all over McCord, walking through her jab, backing her up with solid combinations. AnnaLynne giving ground, spending a lot of time covering up, but it doesn't stop a scintillating three punch combination from Hudgens that send the BLONDE GIRL DOWN! McCord sent crashing to her back where she lays stunned in the sand, staring glassy-eyed at the referee as he counts. But, AnnaLynne's not done. She sits up at seven and makes it to her feet at nine. Referee hesitates after the mandatory eight count, but he waives Hudgens forward. 'Nessa's got one of the best killer instincts in the FCBA, and it's on full display now. She's firing everything she has at a retreating AnnaLynne. McCord's trapped against the ropes, taking heavy fire, being shaken again and again by hard right hands from Vanessa. It's all too much. The referee jumps in, bundling McCord to safety. Tisdale out of her seat, leaping into the air in celebration. It's OVER. And your winner by TKO7 is Vanessa Hudgens!

AFTER:

McCord's minions get her out of harm's way quickly, leaving the beach to Vanessa and Ashley, both of whom are jubilant post-fight. "I kept hearing about how this fight was a mistake," says 'Nessa with a shake of the head, "That she was too tall, too long, that I couldn't beat her. Well, all that length meant was that her head was closer to the ropes when I knocked her on her a**!" "She deserved what she got," says Ashley, with fire in her eyes. "And, she's lucky they got her out of here, because Lookout! still has some business to settle with AnnaLynne McCord!"
