TESS VALMORE

As usual we are late in getting up the Asylum review. The after Asylum party lasted till dawn, then I had to fly home, get two hours sleep and be at the gym for my boxing sparring session. Fortunately Max took it easy on me or I wouldn’t be writing this column .

E. BANKS / BENNET Banks was seventeen years older than Bennet and had only one FCBA fight which she lost. Guesses were that she didn’t have much of a chance. For the first three rounds it looked like the pundits were going to be all wrong as Banks built up a 3 point lead. In the fourth, Bennet wanted to fight inside and Banks obliged her. Big mistake. Bennet took rounds four and five and in round six handed a Banks a beating that she didn’t recover from by the start of the seventh. In that round a Bennet right cross put Banks down for the count .

GARRETT / TORV I said this would be a warm up fight for Torv, who has an upcoming fight with the dangerous Adrianne Palicki. And a warm up it was. The fight was even at two, but Garrett had a one point lead at the end of five. In the sixth, Torv had enough practice and a couple hard rights ended the fight with Garrett counted out on her back .

JOHNSON / ARTERTON Following a pattern of the first two fights, The Front Street opponent took the first round. Arterton won the second round. Johnson won the third and managed to maintain the lead through seven. In the seventh, however, Arterton unloaded on Johnson who barely managed to survive the round. Johnson didn’t survive the eighth. Arterton decked her and while she managed to get to her feet, Arterton unmercifully pounded her until the referee stopped the bout .

C. UNDERWOOD / MEESTER This was a good bout. Underwood took the first two rounds and Meester the next two to even the fight. Underwood took rounds five and six to get a two point lead. Meester hurt underwood in the seventh and floored her in the eighth to gain a one point lead at the end of eight. Meester won the ninth so Underwood needed a least a knockdown in the final round. She didn’t get it and Meester walked away with a decision.

PERRY / HURLEY I and others thought there was no way that Hurley was going to stay with Perry for long. Turns out for once, we were right The bout was even at two and even at four. In the fifth, a booming Perry right hand sent Hurley into dreamland .

WOODLEY / RAMBIN Oh Leven will you ever learn. A pink bikini? Losers wear pink, It’s a terrible fighting color. It’s more of a “please don’t hurt me” color. After being tied at two, Woodley took charge and led in points the rest of the bout, In the ninth, a Woodley right hand sent Rambin to the canvas for the count. So much for the color pink .
