BEFORE: Kelly Reilly finally broke her lousy streak when she knocked out Kym Marsh and now wants to beat Natalie Bassingthwaighte up to maintain her new found winning confidence and prove she's still good enough to make the BBU grade. On the other hand Natalie has racked up several wins over the last two years and while the ACB organization hasn't shown much life this season, she vows to keep her high prospects in tact and targets the fellow actress as a perfect victim to stay in the bantamweight elite.
Both women show plenty of disrespect during the introductions and refuse to touch gloves, if looks could kill there wouldn't be much left of any of these two fighters but the Wembley Arena crowd supports Kelly's bid and wants to see the Aussie blonde wrecked!
Kelly Reilly wears a green bikini set and black gloves. Natalie Bassingthwaighte wears a navy blue bikini set and white gloves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Kelly's full of bad temper and attacks the blonde from the opening second, looping immediate jabs into her face and quite frankly catching Natalie cold with such a ferocious stance. Natalie perhaps expected a slower start from the redhead and gets whipped on her heels as Kelly tears into her face and snaps the head backwards before driving more hooks on the exposed midsection. Natalie begins to groan under the pressure and fails to halt the English barrage, she has to jump to the side in avoidance but still eats more piercing jabs on the tummy and leans forward to meet a crushing uppercut on the jaw and wobble straight back onto the ropes amid a wild cheer from the audience. Kelly smells early blood and rushes with more facial assault however Bassingthwaighte escapes at the very last moment and leaps to the left whereas Reilly only grazes her with a right hand hook and has mount another challenge to maintain the pressure. The clock expires shortly afterwards though and prevents the redhead from making further inroads; still that was a very good opening for the English outsider.
Round 2:
Natalie realizes she needs to square up to the rampant redhead but gets outworked in close range to start the second round as Kelly simply drills her in the gut and wobbles forward once again to send more uppercuts on the chin. Natalie struggles to find her footwork and can't avoid being pounded around during the opening minute and reverts into a lucky punch on the nose that only halts Reilly's charge. She didn't know much about but Kelly for the first time wobbled on her heels as a result of it and the second minute is largely wasted with both women clinching and wrestling each other until ref finally has enough of this and separates them. Kelly jumps into a jabbing frenzy afterwards but lacks precision neccessary to punish the blonde; Bassingthwaighte finally finds some quick feet to steer clear of danger but her counterpunching efforts are fruitless too and neither woman gains ground in the final minute despite plenty of bad temper which still suits the Wembley Arena crowd.
Round 3:
Kelly's pumped up for more damage and resumes the close range facial punishment of the fellow actress; NatBass tries to stay in the exchange but gets clipped on the cheeks a couple of times and wobbles to the side as the redhead drills her in the guts and reels back to the ropes with more ferocious punches. Natalie yelps in discomfort but fails to shrug her foe off and lowers her guard wholesale trying to prevent the redhead's midriff attack; a swift change up high catches her napping though and has Kelly rocking the head back & forth with measured blows on the chin. Natalie screams out even louder as she tries to whack something on the face herself but only eats a left/right combo on the temples and sinks on jelly knees just before the bell; Kelly's really unlucky the clock expired just before she was set to really tear the blonde's resilience to pieces but she still bumps off her and keeps butt-in-ropes even after the bell which forces the referee into action to prevent any unsportsmanlike conduct.
Round 4:
Reilly's got plenty of time to work the Aussie over and NatBass looks really puzzled over her dismal performancer thus far. She's simply unable to crush the redhead's bullying presence and reverts into more ducking & weaving in the fourth almost hoping to see Kelly wear herself out or commit a cardinal mistake. The lenghty lay off period did the blonde no favors it seems and the redhead maintains the superior speed & agility to dwarf Bassingthwaighte's defensive antics; she clobbers the older actress over the top and sinks her on jelly knees half way through the round before spearing into the guts and just driving a lacklustre Aussie into the corner where she keeps pounding away at the body and leaves NatBass screaming out in pain unable to mount any response whatsoever. Kelly tries to dissect the high guard late in the going but she did a better job of punishing the midsection and fails to land that decisive punch allowing NatBass to survive a torrid beating but not without a very sore looking ribcage and a worrying hug around the area while walking back to her stool. Kelly stares down at the visibly wounded opponent and promises her entourage to finally send the "Aussie bytch packing" in the next round!
Round 5:
Natalie's hurt in the guts and looks even slower on her feet than before which only paves the way for immediate Reilly attack; she jumps into another jabbing frenzy this time aimed exclusively on the body and has little trouble with piercing the bruised ribs into more loud Aussie yelps. NatBass tries to land a Hail Mary-like haymaker but misses her targets badly and only bumps off the redhead's flesh before eating more harpoons on the guts and just sinking on her knees deeper and deeper. Reilly clobbers her back to the turnbuckle and the Aussie really can't do anything about it with her guard leaking punches in numbers and allowing the redhead to smack vicious combos straight against the cheeks and nose. Natalie leans over the post and closes her eyes as the English girl's onslaught finally SENDS HER SLIDING DOWN ON HER KNEES amid more rampant ovation from the London audience. NatBass looks wrecked and needs plenty of time to recover; she's up at nine but remains trapped in the corner as Kelly rushes at her and dissects the guard within seconds again, she digs more brutally effective blows into the exposed face leaving Bassinghtwaighte's head to snap around and the screams are getting too hard to handle as well... No mercy from the redhead though who hoofs one on the chin and slumps the blonde's head between her shoulders, another left hook catches her on the ear and a right handed blast finds the nose TO DUMP NATALIE DOWN IN THE CORNER for the second time tonight... Kelly thinks she's got it all wrapped up now and she's right since the Aussie girl collapses on her side with eyes closed and doesn't make an effort to beat the count anymore... KO5 Kelly Reilly!!!
AFTER: That's a genuine upset to begin the Grudge Sessions event as Kelly Reilly notches her second victory in a row and salvages more pride after a terrible start to her BBU career. She knocked out a very dangerous opponent riding a hot streak but the lenghty lay off period and a bit of jet lag did Bassinghtwaighte no favors at all. The Aussie veteran looked to dominate the mental battle ahead of the bout but stumbled upon a very determined redhead who showed exceptional skill when almost everyone has written her off following those four defeats at the start of her career. Natalie was punched into Kym Marsh territory and exits the ring on a stretcher being unable to regain her whereabouts in wake of that massive fifth round pounding. Kelly blows her a goodbye kiss and prefers to dwell on the crowd's support before targeting more opponents brave enough to ignore her status:
"Well, both Kym and Natalie thought I woll fold like a cheap tent and they got it totally wrong in the end! I don't know if the Aussies will send someone to avenge this result now but I'm hearing some Japanese girls would like to try me out and well, I think girls like Amy Nuttall or Danielle Harold can learn a thing or two about me as well! I'm in a tough spot with all those fights being so hard to approve, I'm no Alesha Dixon or Cheryl Cole who always seem to find a place in the ring but I'm determined to stick around for a while yet and now that I've won two in a row, I feel like I'm doing something alright anyway! Just wish me more luck in the future!"
