BBU GOES "X FACTOR" FROM BRADFORD

(Marti's Maulers vs Lioness Club)

BEFORE: Allthough Kimberley Walsh hasn't graced the X Factor judges' panel - unlike her Girls Aloud bandmate Cheryl Cole - she still plans to dominate the UK music industry and sets her sights on the former show's runner-up Rebecca Ferguson who suffered a horrendous BBU debut against fellow upstart Fleur East back in June.

BBU TV's Charlie Webster questions why such a veteran like Walsh needs to prove anything against Ferguson however aside from a recent win over Natasha Hamilton, Kimba has really struggled to enforce her presence on the singers' market more notably being brutally stopped by both Melanie Chisholm and Liz McClarnon as well as getting plain knocked out by Tulisa Contostavlos. Those defeats are simply very bad for anyone's reputation and with Cheryl Cole heading over to America and Nadine Coyle seemingly dropping her jobber attire for good, there's real pressure to perform on the 33 year old from Bradford.

Let's make no mistake, Walsh is on a three fight winning streak dating back to July 2014 but is still 8-14 overall and that hardly makes Rebecca Ferguson running around scared. Despite the heavy beatdown from Fleur East, the 29 year old from Liverpool is confident she "can knock the old slapper out" however for now she has to accept the fight taking place in Kimba's Bradford backyard.

Rebecca Ferguson wears a lacy black basque top, white knickers and yellow gloves. Long dark brown hair straight. Kimberley Walsh wears a bright green bikini top, blue hotpants and blue gloves. Dark blonde hair in loose waves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Rebecca wants to prove she does belong to the boxing circuit after all and jumps at the blonde in surprisingly wild manner swinging left, right and center expect actually tagging the older singer! Kimba almost bursts laughing after seeing the fruitless production but then gets CAUGHT with a lurid left hook on the nose and wobbles badly on her heels... It's game on for Ferguson who throws a series over the top but can't quite find the follow up and is quickly subdued by Kimba's hard-paced response. The BBU veteran reels the X Factor girl towards the ropes and picks her off with several head shots before Ferguson just bellows out into a deep cover but unlike Fleur East, there's no haymaker on display from Walsh who settles into pounding the upstart's midriff late in the going seemingly making full amends for that careless start that almost had her tasting the boards inside the opening minute!

Round 2:
The Bradford crowd looks for more Walsh action but the veteran looks already dismayed she allowed Rebecca to survive that struggle on the ropes in the final minute. She storms out from her stool and hassles the X Factor faithful with a series of facial shots that expose Ferguson's guard far too often to suggest she's gonna make a living out of her BBU career. But an accidental clash of heads stalls Kimberley's progress on the minute mark and Rebecca recovers quicker to bash a jabbing galore on the ribcage and enforce a lenghty clinch from the blonde who looks clueless how to dispatch the newcomer at this stage. That's really poor display after three consecutive wins from Walsh and she endures more pain with Ferguson thumping her on the liver area for much of that clinching struggle before the ref finally separates them. A quick bump and run secures the round for Ferguson and she almost knocks another jab into the blonde's nose at the bell to leave many eyebrows raised after six minutes!

Round 3:
"That's enough of this ####", Kimberley blitzes the Merseyside singer from the bell in the third and finally rocks her with a massive left/right combo to spin Rebecca to the side and seeking a quick escape afterwards. A flurry of overhand shots stops her in the tracks though and when Kimba finds a gutwrenching hook around the elbows the moaning demise begins and sends Ferguson butt-in-ropes within seconds... Walsh rips vicious leather on the guts to lower her rival's guard and reverts into a methodical head hunting afterwards shutting Rebecca's response off in the proccess. The X Factor girl's head rocks back & forth as the blonde finds more openings and tags the chin repeatedly in the final minute but she can't quite deliver that heavy punch to send her packing and that's an old for the local heroine. She does more than enough to freeze Rebecca in the corner until the bell but unlike in the East clash, the newcomer still has some fire left after a much improved performance already.

Round 4:
Rebecca hangs back at the start of the fourth and that's a bad idea if she wants to let Kimberley wear herself out in fruitless pursuit because the blonde has the superior moves across the boards and easily traps the younger singer with a jabbing series that splits the gloves and rocks the dark hair around the neck again. Ferguson has to yield real estate here and she's pushed towards the neutral corner without much resistance allowing Kimba to thump her on the guts repeatedly and can only groan in visible discomfort as the crowd urges their favorite to finally send the X Factor heroine down. Walsh leans on her and keeps bursting through the midsection, almost headbutts Ferguson in the proccess but despite the shaky legs, the battered brunette refuses to go down and in fact Kimberley does look a bit tired in the final minute and falls into a blatant clinch that helps Rebecca to see out a very difficult round.

Round 5:
Charlie Webster is really surprised to see this fight entering the fifth click but Rebecca's in real physical trouble now after all that body punching she soaked up thus far. Kimberley fakes another low approach but then blasts a left cross on the nose and finds a classic right hand uppercut on the chin TO DUMP THE BRUNETTE ON HER KNEES after less than 20 seconds of the round... Crowd errupts in joy even if they had to wait so long for the much anticipated knockdown and Rebecca's down on all fours until seven before mounting a late comeback and somehow getting up at nine. She breaths very heavily here but actually doesn't sport too many facial wounds and the ref wants to see more of this! Kimba bounces off the neutral corner and makes the most of Ferguson being glued to the spot; she rips the mitts wide open again and blasts more cross hooking nightmare to snap the head back and the footing simply lets the Liverpool singer down as she can't stay upright for too long despite her mind willing her to do so... a quick one-two-three on the cheeks is enough TO SEND HER DOWN AGAIN and this time it's effectively all over... Rebecca's head hit the deck really hard as she developed that familiar sack of potatoes presence and can only cover the face with her gloves.. the ten count passes her by as expected... KO5 Kimberley Walsh!!!

AFTER: If this fight was held anywhere else than Bradford, Kimberley would have never received a standing ovation! That was a journeywoman performance from the blonde at best even if she keeps her streak alive at four straight wins. She looked to have taken this win for granted long before the opening bell and almost paid a huge prize for it! Despite a good knock out this was unconvincing performance from Walsh and made Fleur East look like a new beast in disguise...

Charlie Webster is quick to have Kimba mic'd up and even the Girls Aloud veteran remains coy whether Rebecca was simply that bad on her debut or is Fleur that good instead: "Yeah, these X Factor girls are like everywhere now! I wanted to make a statement and I did! I never said I'll beat Fleur's clocking even though that would be quite epic. After all my losses in the early days of my BBU career I prefer to focus on the fact I won FOUR straight fights now and that's as good as it gets no matter if people will mock Ferguson's pedigree. Sure, Cheryl always runs her mouth when she's around but I kinda follow Nicola's approach, you don't need to act as if you own the division when there's no reason for it! But I still plan to dominate the singers' market and I think I'm gonna be just fine (smiles)."

Meanwhile Rebecca needs to be revived on her stool and looks really disappointed by the outcome even if she was a ranked outsider before the fight: "I had my chance there right at the start!", she tells Charlie, "I've seen the tapes, she does have a glass chin alright and I was so close to pull off the upset. One, maybe two punches more in the first round and she'd be gone! Being with the Maulers is tough sometimes, I need a regular gym time and I don't know where I can find any at this stage. Perhaps Frankie Cocozza will allow me to train with his Foxes? I did my best but her experience, all those hours sparring with Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding did the trick (...) I will be back though! Girls like Gabriella Cilmi and Diana Vickers better take notice because I plan to stalk their schedule really soon! The X Factor is not dead, Charlie! Not dead at all!"

Final result: Kimberley Walsh def. Rebecca Ferguson KO5.
