AMANDA RIGHETTI VS BIANCA KAJLICH
(Words: Bonzo / Results: Lookout!)

Before: At 38, Bianca Kajlich has suddenly found herself in the unlikely position of being the “hot new thing” at welterweight. The “Rules of Engagement” und “Undateable” actress always had a small cult following among connoisseurs of the diviwion, but a proper management deal always eluded her. Kajlich’s only had six official bouts in the league, but they have been against top competition: she was soundly beaten by Leelee Sobieski, then shocked the world with a beat-up of Bridget Regan, but couldn’t capitalize on it as most people refused to see more than a freak upset in that victory. Since then, Bianca has built up a five-fight winning streak against Patton, Banks and former champions Govich and Nolin. Kajlich now finally part of an as-yet opaque behind-the-scenes deal that has her still listed as a free agent, but she is considered de-facto managed. With Lancaster as a similarly obscure but increasingly respected champ, Kajlich’s on the verge of a break-though: now she wants to do to Amanda Righetti what she did to Bridget Regan (quoting from the official league report: ”Violence reigns – Bianca just overpowering Bridgy Regs in a furious display of elemental savagery”). Kajlich one of the most athletically stunning women in the division, shows healthy confidence in pre-fight talk. “I’ve waited for opportunities like this for years, and now I’m finally getting the fights. Beating Amanda is my ticket to the title. Amanda’s proven to be more and more vulnerable to big punching. She’s simply fought too many fights back in 2009-2011, and her legs have never been the same. I’m not going to go about pretending that I’m planning to box her to a ten-round decision – although I think her conditioning has suffered, too – but I’ve got the fists to beat her helpless, and that’s the only game plan I need.” – Righetti acknowledges and appreciates the heat in response. “The comparison is flawed, because Bianca’s much older than her back then, but she reminds of a new Bridget Regan, back when Bridget stormed onto the scene. I’m a long-term strategist and that’s why these new arrivals have to be taken to the woodshed early and hard, so that they don’t get confused in their realistic expectations”, she says. Righetti still widely regarded as a legit p4p contender, but she’s increasingly criticized for her decreasing fighting frequency (two fights last year and four fights this year so far), and she’s lost her two most recent title fights against Freeman and Regan: Kajlich now widely considered the most difficult new test for her in some time.

Fight:
R1: At the bell, Righetti immediately wades into Kajlich – girls fired up in compete mode. Redhead’s jabs thick and booming: violent lefts to Bianca’s chest, pounding rights into stomach have Kajlich on her heels early, she’s slugging back, but she’s staggered just a bit. Righetti looking to back up Bianca at ropes, impose BIG-ness right out the gate. Righetti extending lefts into shoulders, as Bianca leans back, head turning frantically – then Amanda’s plowing Bianca’s tits and gut for impact. Redhead’s shoulders already in rotation, pumping jabs and stacking up Bianca when she’s trying to muscle her way out the corner. Mid-round, Amanda scores a beautiful clobbering right hand to Kajlich’s chin – Bianca struggles for balance, but falls into a steamy clinch. There, Kajlich’s weight shows: Amanda not able to move her girl back, wincing slightly when Bianca responds with a series of monstrous body shots into Righetti’s side, as redhead is pushed back herself. Kajlich so physical – her turn to get those shoulders rolling, tag-tagging Amanda’s face on her tip-toeing way back. Now Righetti’s back against ropes, sponging up the violence. Kajlich immediately trying to stack up/process Amanda, but redhead too strong and stubborn: thudding defense jabs have Kajlich baby-stepping in return, as Righetti marches into her foe. Another big-girl clinch, already drenched in sweat, as torsos totter into each other, each girl attempting utmost damage with choking punches into side. Welter bodies shuddering under respective impact: no girl willing to budge, as it’s all one-step forward Amanda, one-step forward Bianca. Round slightly in Amanda’s favour – she spent more time on top, especially in the first half – but last minute all even, as girls battle for supremacy.

R2: Amanda switching up policy – and Kajlich’s not finding an answer to Righetti’s quicker jabs: not hurt, but she’s in retreat nevertheless, as Amanda brings her legs into the game. Redhead’s choosing to manage distance now, often side-stepping her slightly heavier foe, circling her with elegant but stinging jabs. Kajlich’s trying to clinch, but Righetti’s doing a good job of avoiding brunette, using quick-tag jabs towards chin to forcefully extricate herself, not longing for that bruising body-to-body wrestling. After first minute, Righetti ever more precise: Bianca slowed down to a halt, getting picked up on her way a few times – a surprise overhead right has brunette all wobbly-butt – as Amanda’s jabs start to leave tiny bruises on Kajlich’s face. Righetti so effective, countering any Kajlich attack with legs and jabs – inch by inch, redhead’s taking over the ring. Bianca ends up at the ropes, but she’s strong as a bull, of course: Righetti’s on top, but this ain’t no trademark stack-up. Kajlich reduces activity to alarming off-rope, KO-rights soaring past careful Amanda’s head. Redhead responding with force: throwing whole body into thorough, thumping one-two combinations, outpacing Bianca and being a little sturdier throughout last minute, as Kajlich’s unable to break up Amanda’s working woman rhythm, short on punches and ideas. Righetti’s laying the ground for some fine, whistling rights late in the round – sheer pace and power finally leaving some mark on brunette, as Kajlich stumbles on the spot, not answering. Righetti emerges more dominant at the end of the second round, as Bianca’s noticeably impressed by the constant pressure.

R3: Righetti circles into jab mode, but they’re not hefty enough to deter Bianca from closer action – she’s ramping up her own jabs, stepping into Amanda with no respect, punching for authority. Girls walking each other down on sturdy legs – Kajlich now out-pacing Amanda on volume and power here, taking over space and making the most of those mid-ring clinches, always leading with her left relentlessly tapping Amanda’s flanks, using forearms, at one point almost hoisting Righetti under her arms into ropes in a savage display of strength and ego: Righetti groaning, struggling to hold her own, but ultimately working at Bianca’s face with chopping short right uppercuts for spook effect to escape. From there, Amanda’s leggier, occasionally countering Bianca sharply, showing good head movement and using space well, but she’s steadily lead/punched back to ropes by Bianca’s tagging lefts, as Righetti’s unable to exert enough pressure on thick Kajlich’s sleek-but-strong power approach. Around the middle mark, Righetti turns sleepy from close hooks to chin – Bianca’s feeding her punches: redhead suddenly turned wobbly-butt, tottering backwards on heels, measuring hasty jabs from defensive distance. Kajlich settles into strong-footed siege: she’s got Amanda on the spot – Bianca’s bobbing up and down in front of foe, shuffling hooks and jabs – she shuts down Righetti’s offense by targeting arms and shoulders! Redhead at risk: has to escape into long, sweaty hugs for rest, using shoulders to hold ground, refusing to budge. Kajlich’s impatient, hasting ref for breaks, always looking to explode into vicious little uppercuts, while pumping righties into Amanda’s side when they’re close. Righetti’s legs tested every once in a while, but she’s starting to defuse some of the pressure late by embracing Kajlich’s body battle: as fight turns closer at the end, Bianca’s no longer dictating Amanda’s moves, but this has clearly been her round, and widely.

R4: The nail-biting action continues, as girls give everything they got: fight breaking down into little set pieces on the spot, and every inch of space is bitterly contested. Attrition warfare – girls respectively enjoying some control with powerful jabs for prep, then score some right hands, but soon the other one will have reversed action and the next battle ensues, as welter ladies wreak each other around the ring. First two minutes indecisive: too many shifts, too much mouth-watering big-girl clinches. Last minute, Kajlich suddenly rips Amanda a surprise right hand upside the temple past the defenses, turning redhead all fluttering, as Righetti stoops forward into more harm! Bianca alert, immediately thumping into hurt opponent with noticeable glee, ramming a series of rights into gut, plugging Amanda’s face with monstrous little jabs to prep her girl – Righetti slow, laying back DEEP in ropes in shock, lashes batting in confusion. Redhead just gaping into the punishment, as her body turns slightly rigid, but her hands are still functioning, protecting her face against the aggression, while getting shoved to and fro ropes, battered across her whole front. Amanda’s legs adjust after a while, torso slowly straightening and she’s ANSWERING stubbornly, countering Kajlich’s attack rhythm with off-beat jabs, finally getting her body behind the punches again, proving tough and solid at big risk.

R5: Kajlich out to prove jab credentials, poking Amanda’s face with rolling lefts, as Righetti gets her mouth punched repeatedly, has to back off. Bianca fencing opponent’s space, soaking into her with knuckles tightly kept together, just neatly pumping strokes. Amanda tries to rotate away from the punches, drawing back, retracting all throughout first minute, trusting mobile legs. Kajlich’s patient, not wanting to allow Righetti any sneaky counters, walks her down calmly, but not yet leaning in. Righetti occasionally stepping forward a bit to reverse course, leading on overhead rights, but Bianca’s got it figured out – soon settling ahead again, hunting down a hip-hopping, concerned Amanda. Kajlich proving able to execute textbook jabs: she’s got the rhythm, she’s got the power, almost shutting out Righetti’s own jabs completely. Mid-round, Bianca encroaches on Amanda more broadly, bringing rights into the game, trapping opponent on sheer aggression. Righetti bravely accepting those terms, marching into punches to reach a clinch, retaliating with murderous rights chopped into Bianca’s side. Kajlich separating their struggling, battling hips, she’s jostling, bumping into ‘Manda, punching herself free to work. Bianca not letting off: she catches Amanda again, first with a cheek-crushing jab, then another top-of-the-head stunner, folding poor Righetti forward with a slump into Bianca’s waiting jabs. Righetti’s groaning, her swelling eyes rolling in pain, as she’s resting her head on Bianca’s thick shoulders, gasping in used-up awe. Kajlich’s targeting Amanda’s arms, throwing wild gut-checks, whooping her redhead into the desired direction. Final minute: Righetti back at ropes, in tight earmuff, getting fed short little hooks knocking her head back, but she’s still always able to straighten up again, demonstrating superb conditioning and leggy power. Kajlich’s dominant, but not able to go all the way from there – Amanda’s defenses jarred, but widely holding up throughout. Not much on the offensive side from Righetti, but she’s successfully keeping out for small openings to catch Bianca on the break, not fleeing into desperate slugfests but somehow trying to manage the power assault. Kajlich’s taking her third straight round here, glowing all over as she marches back to corner at bell in workwoman-like fashion, looking she doesn’t want to waste any time to kick some more butt.

R6: Thirty seconds all Kajlich, on track for another cruise control behind her jab, until Amanda finally competes, starting to time Bianca coming in, side-stepping her, stopping her with a thick right into solarplexus, before rolling her shoulders into a barrage of lefts and rights to face, as Kajlich stumbles backwards, winding up HURRRT! Bianca moaning, relapsing into ropes, only juussst getting her hands up to defuse a Righetti right. Redhead’s bobbing and weaving to duck her foe’s counters, as Bianca droops forward into a beat-down from Amanda’s left that leaves her sagging back into the ropes. Kajlich’s blinking rapidly in confused pain, but rallies her body back to control with world-class resilience and stubborn tree-trunk legs – advancing into a meaty, grueling clinch, she’s back wrestling for the upper hand. Righetti so hungry now, though: instantly making sure she can keep the initiative by rocking Kajlich with strong hooks under her arms, as Bianca flaps and shudders under the attack, wincing, giving inches of ground. Follow-up jab catches Bianca massively on her nose – Righetti’s stalking her to corner! Violent tussles at the ropes ensue throughout rest of round, with Amanda looming big on top, as Bianca’s not able to break up her rhythm. Later, Amanda’s trapping Bianca in her corner steady for more harm, pumping in uppercuts to face, as Kajlich jerks up and down, swooning into ropes for support, hoping for the bell. Fight turns even on the cards after six, but the accumulating damage on both sides is already immense, as welter bigs just keep on competing.

R7: Early on, Amanda goes to town on Bianca’s arms/shoulders/chest, relentlessly marching forward behind jab, her stance now rock-solid, beefing up both their rate and their strength, trying to out-fight her foe for dominance. Kajlich’s managing the power fine throughout first minute, mostly in circular retreat, always keeping alert, attempting to counter, but she’s starting to get a bit stiff in the second minute, as her punches turn rigid and easier to dodge: shabby treatment by Amanda’s merciless left is starting to take a toll on her. Suddenly, Kajlich’s legs are all buzzed – her own free-for-all slugging overhead right is sailing nowhere, but Amanda’s simultaneous jolt connects violently with Bianca’s forehead – and Righetti’s lunging in deep, pressing her shoulders to pin foe down into ropes, jerking rights into Bianca’s gut, one after another one. Kajlich deeply entrenched in ropes – not getting her weight forward, but grimly stepping out again, only to be held back. Amanda really straining to pin down Kajlich at ropes, burying evil right hands in Bianca’s gut, as brunette suffers panting/wincing. Then – Kajlich suddenly explodes into vicious short uppercuts, astonishing her besieger. Bianca so tough: despite two minutes of aggressive poke knocking her head back, deep body-punches ripping up her stomach, she’s scrubbing Amanda’s face with rights, using a sweaty clinch to wrestle/drive Righetti backwards, using Amanda’s confusion to step out: now Righetti’s head is resting on Bianca’s shoulders, groaning under furious attacks on her flanks. Girls are shifting their hips, grappling for space, but the redhead’s separating herself from the grasp, creating a distance to tag Bianca’s head with powerful jabs, taking over the lost space, as Kajlich’s hurrying sideways, short on punches AGAIN, when Amanda suddenly edges close, clipping brunette a short right hook to temple: BIANCA’S HEAD’S FLAPPING! Kajlich’s knees are rickety – she’s hurt, her body stooping forward – stumbling on the spot, on diminished legs. Righetti leans in, pulling a looping right hand upside Kajlich’s face connecting with her temple again: Kajlich’s loosened, her proud body folding up – SHE’S SLUMPING DOWN! Bianca collapses, landing on her back, mumbling, arms clutching automatically at the floor to raise her upper body, looking confused, but she’s not going to make it up in time – that’s a crushing KO7 Amanda Righetti!

After: Kajlich with chaotic eyes: frail, but well-tended to by her team, needs some time to get back to reality from her knocked-out haze – she’s obviously heart-broken, her winning streak and momentum crushed before she got close to that hoped-for title shot. This welterweight battle has not fallen short of its promise, as both girls impress, but only one remains standing. Bianca getting good reviews for tonight’s performance – she did win three straight rounds after all – but she proved unable to diminish Righetti’s power significantly during her stretches of dominance and couldn’t handle the KO power when it came. Righetti as severely tested as expected, but showing great stamina against one of the physically strongest women at the weight and proving KO punching power against an opponent who wouldn’t just be stacked up and processed gradually – definitely her most convincing performance in a while.
