WITCHES, PUMPKINHEADS AND BLACK CATS III: HALLOWEEN AT THE ASYLUM

BEFORE:

"I've been looking forward to this for a long time," says the girl in the genie outfit, complete with mask. "I know I'm the underdog tonight, but, I'm about to show everyone I shouldn't be."

"This girl isn't a pushover," says the girl in the ninja costume. "She's got plenty of ability. She just doesn't have enough to beat me. But. There's a lot of that going around."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside, and, as we mentioned, the music isn't going to tell us anything about the ladies coming to ringside tonight. That tune you hear..."

McCarthy: "What IS that? You know, Weirdo likes Hallowe'en WAAAAY too much..."

O'Dell: "That's 'Soul-Crusher', by White Zombie. And, again, not sure who's coming to the ring in that sexy genie outfit..."

Cassie: "We can see she's blonde and she's definitely a bantam..."

McCarthy: "You missed your calling, Scabbo. You should have worked at one of those 'guess my weight' booths at a carnival..."

Cassie: "I'm even better at guessing ages. In your case, what, 68? 70?"

McCarthy: "You LITTLE..."

O'Dell: "Now, calm DOWN, Mac. Our genie into the ring and helped off with the robes and..."

McCarthy: "Who the HECK...is she even a CELEBRITY? Where is Weirdo GETTING these girls?"

Tess: "That would be the lovely Nicola Peltz of movies like 'Transformers' and TV series like 'Bates Motel'..."

McCarthy: "Never HEARD of her..."

O'Dell(sighing): "Peltz helped off with the costume to reveal a green and black striped number that shows off a body that's got the crowd buzzing, and..."

McCarthy: "What is THAT INFERNAL NOISE???"

O'Dell: "That would be 'Burn The Knowledge', by Phuture Doom. And, I know that because it's RIGHT HERE ON THE TABLET WE'VE BEEN ISSUED..."

McCarthy: "Again, I refuse to read Weirdo's propaganda!"

O'Dell: "And, coming down to the ring is a ninja..."

Tess: "This has to be one of the bantamweights, and it's not Grace Park..."

McCarthy: "No, she has some meat on her bones..."

Tess: "She's brunette, so it's not Allison Mack or Leven Rambin..."

O'Dell: "Our ninja into the ring and helped off with the costume by Jewel and Neve and that is 'The Next Big Thing', Chloe Bennet in that familiar blue bikini..."

McCarthy: "Speaking of masks, too bad Campbell isn't wearing one..."

O'Dell(sighing): "Ladies about ready, so it's time for some picks. Tess?"

Tess: "Well, Peltz is a tyro and Bennet is, maybe, the best prospect Front Street has. Chloe."

O'Dell: "Mac?"

McCarthy: "Typical. Dancing. Hooker. Opponent. Zero. FCBA. Wins. Bennet."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "There's the bell. Bennet aggressive immediately, right after Nicola. Coming forward behind the left jab. Peltz willing to give ground, doesn't want to get into any heavy exchanges with Chloe at this point."

Tess: "Not a bad strategy. Chloe is a heavy hitter, as we've seen. You get into a firefight with her, your FCBA debut might be a short one."

O'Dell: "Bennet stalking, matching footwork, and ROCKING PELTZ WITH A RIGHT HAND! Oh, that was set up PERFECTLY by the straight left and Nicola in big trouble early..."

McCarthy: "What a tomato can THIS kid is..."

O'Dell: "Bennet measuring now, backing Peltz up, lining her up, working her toward the ropes and now trapping her there. The blonde wobbly. Keeping a high, tight guard in place, jabbing back only in spots as Chloe gets off with both hands. Peltz putting the body on sale and now Bennet buying. Thumping Nicola to ribs and midsection. Peltz clinching, Bennet shoves her off and ROCKS HER WITH A RIGHT HOOK! Peltz wobbled along the ropes!"

Cassie: "Ref not going to watch much more of this..."

O'Dell: "Won't have to, one way or another. Twenty seconds left in this one. Bennet in no hurry here, not getting sloppy, keeps using the straight left to set up the right. Ten seconds left. Good right hand from Bennet again! Peltz felt that one, no question. Five seconds. And, there's the bell! Big first round for Chloe, but Nicola still standing."

McCarthy: "No knockdown, so I'm scoring this 10-9, but if this kid doesn't stop fighting scared, we won't get anywhere near the cards."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Back to action and Bennet working the left jab. Peltz showing some movement, slipping the jab, angling up on the brunette, trying to foul her sights. Blonde may not have the legs all the way back, but she seems to have enough to be moving pretty well. She's shaken off the effects of the last round pretty quickly. Meanwhile, Chloe not as aggressive this round. Not coming forward. More stationary as she tries to get the jab on target to set up the right hand."

McCarthy: "Kid may be a little gassed after the last round. Put a lot of chips in trying to get Peltz out of there."

O'Dell: "You may be right, Mac. Chloe not nearly as busy this round, and Nicola beginning to get off pretty well. She's getting her offense going, getting punches put together. Showing plenty of caution, as you might expect after that last round, but she's scoring with both hands and out-fighting Bennet at the moment."

Cassie: "Not sure if Bennet's having problems with the movement, because Nicola is pretty difficult to find right now, working the feet, head, and shoulders, or if, like Mac says, she's a little tired. Maybe a combination of both."

O'Dell: "Might well be, but, in any case, it's Nicola having the better of things as we go down the stretch. Peltz getting stronger as this round goes on. Gaining confidence in the legs, and, quite possibly, just plain gaining confidence. Ten seconds left here in the second. Another nice one-two from the blonde, and there's the bell. Peltz's round."

Tess: "And, we're even at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third begins with more movement from Peltz, slipping and sliding, angling very well. Bennet getting more aggressive now, getting the left off and bringing the right to bear when she can get it on. Chloe much busier, but still holding ground, not coming forward like she did in the first."

Tess: "Not sure why that is. Last round, if she was a little arm weary, then I understand it, but she's getting the work rate up this round. Don't know why she's not looking to advance."

O'Dell: "Instead, the ladies fighting at range as they did in the second. More closely-fought this time, though, because Bennet's more active. Peltz busy as well, and we're seeing some solid exchanges between the two, as first Nicola goes left-right and then Chloe immediately fires back with a combination of her own. Both fighters landing a solid percentage here, Mac..."

McCarthy: "That's because they're setting things up and getting the gloves out and back. There's good defense being shown, but both girls are taking advantage of any opening they can create."

O'Dell: "And, it's pretty impressive stuff considering the relative experience levels. Obviously, this is the first fight in the FCBA for Peltz, but, even Bennet's only had ten fights. Down the stretch we come in the third. Peltz bobbing that head, snapping out the left. Chloe a good left-right and Nicola responds with a nice flurry. Five seconds left. Peltz slips a hard right and there's the bell. Close. Nicola, I think."

Cassie: "And, Peltz now up 29-28 after three."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth begin with more aggression from Bennet. Chloe coming forward now, forcing Peltz back like she did in the first. Nicola a fighting retreat, not trying to hold ground against the hard-hitting brunette, but going to exact a price in leather for every inch of canvas she cedes. And, it's a price Chloe's willing to pay..."

Tess: "I like this strategy for Bennet. She can box at range. We've seen her do it effectively. But, she's got a power advantage here, and bringing that to bear is the right move..."

O'Dell: "It's definitely working. Chloe has Nicola fighting off her back foot. Peltz being careful not to get trapped on the ropes, doing a good job of staying in open canvas, but she's being forced to play counter-puncher, as Bennet's gotten rolling pretty well right now. She's boxing lead, forcing Peltz backward again and again..."

Cassie: "Chloe has a lot of power for this weight, as Tess pointed out. I remember that fight against Lotz, who's as solid a bantam as you're going to see, and, if Bennet can starch HER..."

O'Dell: "I have a feeling Peltz has seen plenty of video of that fight, and that, along with the big punch in the first round, might be why she's willing to keep giving ground here. Doesn't want to stand and trade with Chloe, and, she's definitely succeeding in avoiding having to do that here in the fourth. Bennet still patient. Stalking. Ten seconds to go. One more solid left-right from the brunette and there's the bell. Bennet's round easily."

McCarthy: "38-38. Anybody's fight."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Bennet coming forward again now, showing even more aggression. SNAPPING out that left, dropping in hard right hands. Peltz trying to hold ground now, firing back hard and creating some scintillating exchanges...LIKE THIS ONE! OH, BIG punches landing from both fighters as both heads are snapped back before the ladies fall into a clinch!"

McCarthy: "This is good stuff from the Peltz kid. She has to punch for respect at some point here. Bennet was just walking through her late last round."

O'Dell: "And that's what Chloe wants to do off the break. She's DETERMINED to grab canvas and Nicola not giving it up easily, staying in there and firing back and GETTING ROCKED! Right hook, Bennet and Peltz is hurt! Chloe going to work immediately, backing the blonde up, forcing her into the ropes and letting both hands fly! Peltz in a high, tight guard, rolling the shoulders, crouching, ducking, doing everything she can to hang on here..."

Cassie: "This girl is pretty sturdy, because that right hook would have put a lot of bantams not only down, but OUT."

McCarthy: "Not THIS bantam. And not Munn, either."

O'Dell: "Bennet not going all in this time. Very patient. Very clinical. STICKING that left home to drive the head back, then hooking the right behind the gloves. Peltz clinching, trying to tie up, but Chloe shoves her off and works a little body. Nasty hook to the ribs right there, followed by a straight right that snapped back the blonde's head. Nicola game, jabbing back in spots, running clock pretty well, especially for a girl of her experience. Five seconds left. Final flurry from Bennet and there's the bell. Chloe wide."

Tess: "But, only 10-9, and that means the cards are 48-47, Bennet. Nicola's still in this thing."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Sixth begins with Bennet again wanting to come forward. Peltz showing some lateral movement now, like she did in the second..."

Tess: "Again, Peltz has shaken off the leather she took last round pretty quickly. She's moving very well."

O'Dell: "Is, indeed. She's staying off square here, angling up, giving a little ground, but not retreating. Instead creating a bit of a slow turn to her right, away from Bennet's power. Chloe wants to cut these angles down, step forward. Peltz gives a bit more ground, working the left hand and DOWN SHE GOES!"

Cassie: "Beautiful right cross. Over the left glove before Nicola could come close to getting it back."

O'Dell: "Peltz dropped to her back. Bennet to a neutral corner. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Six. Nicola rolls to hands and knees. Seven. Eight..."

Cassie: "Wow. She beat the count! I was pretty sure this was over..."

McCarthy: "Shows how much YOU know, Scabbo!"

O'Dell: "Peltz taking the mandatory and the referee going to allow it to continue. ON COMES CHLOE! She's all about the finish now, battering the blonde back into the ropes and going to work in a major way. Bennet stepping into everything now, getting a jar of mustard on every punch. Nicola again in that high guard, rolling with, hanging on. RIGHT HAND, BENNET! Snaps back Peltz's head and turns her legs to jelly! Nicola stumbling along the ropes, EATS a vicious left hook an IT'S OVER! Referee has seen enough! He jumps between the fighters and waives it off, and your winner by TKO6 is 'The Next Big Thing', Chloe Bennet!"

Cassie: "Check out the right hand that almost sent Nicola down. Bennet just SPLITS the gloves with it and Peltz goes rag doll for just an instant. How she stayed up, we'll never know, but here's that nasty left hook and the referee has no choice but to get in there. Good fight, big finish for Bennet."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Chloe Bennet, and, Chloe, she can take a punch, can't she?"

Chloe (smiling): "ABsolutely. A couple of times, I almost did a double take, like, 'Is she still STANDING after that?' Yeah. She can take a punch and she can throw one, too. She's got a lot of talent. Just needs work."

Tess: "Speaking of work, what's next for you?"

Chloe: "We'll have to see. Wiz says he's going to try to get me one more fight before the end of the year if he can. I have some girls on my wish list. We'll see what happens."
