BEFORE:

"I remember the last time very well," says Anna with a shake of the head. "Even though it was three and a half years ago. I should have beaten Spears that night, but I didn't. Tonight's going to be different."

"She's a smart fighter," says Jane with a nod. "She's game and she fights hard. She's going to give me everything she has. And, that's OK. Because, it's not going to be enough."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside, and that's 'Bad Things' by Jace Everett, and that can only mean the lovely Anna Paquin is on her way to the ring..."

Cassie: "I remember her last fight here. It was against Jamie Lynn Spears. And, it was the night I made my Asylum broadcasting debut. YOU remember that night, DON'T you, Mac?"

McCarthy: "I remember having poison ivy as a kid, too. And I'd rather ROLL in a FIELD of poison ivy than have to sit next to you!"

Cassie: "Well, I think a meeting between you and, say, a TON of poison ivy could be arranged..."

McCarthy: "Are you THREATENING me, Scabbo? Did you hear that? That was a threat! She just THREATENED me! Siri, call my lawyer!"

O'Dell (sighing): "Not a single fighter in the ring yet, and we're already calling attorneys. Paquin climbs inside and is helped off with the robe to reveal that blue and white checked number she's worn here before, and that's 'Pleasant Nightmare' by Alih Jey you hear, and here comes 'The Marin County Marauder', Jane Levy!"

Cassie: "And, as I recall, Tess, when you did your article about downsizing Front Street, Levy was the only fly you decided to keep..."

Tess: "Thanks for bringing THAT up, BFF, and, yes, she was. She's a former college athlete, so she's quick and moves very well. She's solidly built and has a lot of power for the division. She's young. Just 25. She has a bright future..."

McCarthy: "Not as long as she's fighting for Weirdo. We all know HE can't figure out how to win in this division."

Tess: "Shouldn't you be talking to your lawyer?"

McCarthy: "I got voicemail! I have a good mind to fire him and hire Johnnie Cochran!"

Cassie: "Good luck with that..."

O'Dell (sighing): "Jane into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that peach bikini she likes. And, we're about ready to go. Let's get some picks. Tess favors Jane. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Paquin's a typical Dancing Hooker opponent. No FCBA wins! Plus, she has the body of a teenage boy!"

Cassie: "Again, her rack is better than yours. And it's also natural."

McCarthy: "It is NOT...YOU LITTLE..."

O'Dell: "MAC! A pick!"

McCarthy: "Levy!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "And, there, thankfully, is the bell. Paquin quickly making with the left. She wants to jab here, create some space. Kind of surprised by that, because Anna's a solid fly and often looks to close and bring power to bear..."

McCarthy: "She's got some reach tonight, though. Three inches taller. Might want to use that and make Levy come to her."

O'Dell: "And, that's exactly what she's doing, and watch how well Jane is doing just that. Got the mitts high, bobbing the head, working past Paquin's jab to middle distance, then going to work. Anna giving a little ground, wants to maintain space, but Levy not having any. Showing quite a bit of skill at closing for a fighter with all of five FCBA fights..."

Cassie: "Uncle Wiz VERY high on Jane, and you're seeing why. She's a smart fighter who learns quickly, and also a very athletic one, a former college soccer player, as we've said before. She knows how to close, and she's got great feet that allow her to do it."

O'Dell: "Paquin getting forced back now, as Levy's getting some heavier leather on the target as we come down the stretch. The blonde trying to hold ground, but not able to do it. Levy backing her out of there, showing there's plenty of power in that solid 5'2" frame. Ten seconds left in the first. Levy a solid flurry and there's the bell. Jane's round."

Tess: "Excellent start for the redhead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second round underway and Paquin again looking to jab for space. Levy again quickly undermining that effort, forcing middle distance on the Canadian and getting off with both hands. Paquin firing back now, willing to trade in there rather than go onto the defensive again. Some solid shot flying around in there now..."

Tess: "No doubt about it. Both fighters landing some power blows and neither one wants to give an inch here!"

O'Dell: "And PAQUIN HURTS LEVY! Anna with a BIG right hand and Jane's knees did a shimmy! The blonde now all over the Front Streeter, stepping in and backing the redhead up. Jane covering up as she's forced back. Paquin a very smart fighter herself, and you're seeing that now. She's not getting sloppy, staying within herself, setting up punches, scoring plenty as she slowly works her rival to the ropes..."

McCarthy: "She needs to finish here, though. She's got this girl in trouble. Don't let her get out of this round..."

O'Dell: "Levy against the ropes taking. She's got the hands high and she's jabbing back in spots, not all that effectively, but she's keeping the referee at bay. Paquin hooking a little body, then going back upstairs. She's looking for the finisher as we come into the final 30 seconds. Levy denying it to her, fighting well defensively, clinching now, pinning the arms, running clock. Paquin shoves free only to be tied up again. Five seconds. Good right hook, Paquin, but there's the bell. Anna wide."

Cassie: "And, we're even at 19, but Levy worked her way out of some major trouble."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Paquin putting on the pressure in the third. If she can't end this thing, she's at least trying to gain control of it. Jane holding her ground now, banging back, and we're seeing the same terms we saw early in the last round, fighters at middle distances, exchanging leather and landing some solid stuff."

McCarthy: "Good foot and head movement from both fighters in here, though. This isn't a brawl."

O'Dell: "Absolutely isn't. Nobody's slopping punches, and, as you point out, Mac, the feet are moving and moving well as both blonde and redhead look to angle for position and foul the other's sights. But, that's not stopping either from sitting down on her punches. No question some power stuff is being thrown and landed."

Cassie: "No question at all. Both girls pretty sturdy, and they're shipping this stuff pretty well."

O'Dell: "Into the final thirty seconds now. It's been a crowd-pleasing, action-packed round. Lots of leather being traded back and forth, and it's going to be close when the bell finally rings, but that hasn't happened yet and both fighters are still working hard. Five seconds left. Good exchange there, and there's the bell. Very close. Anna."

Tess: "And that puts Paquin up 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Paquin not looking to fix what's been working. She's again willing to fight mid-range with Jane..."

McCarthy: "Well, she wasn't able to enforce distance in the first, and she's been having the better of it since, so, might as well fight on these terms."

O'Dell: "And, that's clearly what Paquin's thinking. Anna slick, smart, rolling those shoulders, dipping the head, making things tough for Levy. Jane keeping the hands up, getting the glove out and back quickly, very smooth for a girl in her sixth FCBA fight. Seems to be very comfortable in the ring at this point."

Cassie: "And, again, that's something to remark on for a girl with as little experience as Jane. Things probably haven't slowed down for her yet, but she definitely doesn't look like a rookie."

O'Dell: "That, she does not. Levy working some more body this round. Paquin has a height advantage which equals reach, but the disadvantage of height is that there's usually more torso and that makes a bigger target for a girl who wants to work the body. Jane hitting that target down the stretch, scoring some points down there, bringing a wince or two to the blonde's lovely face. There's the bell ending the fourth, and that body work the difference in a very close round. Levy grabbed it late."

Tess: "And, we're all even at 38."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "No changes from either fighter here in the fifth. Right back to the same strategy, the same terms, working at middle distances, both remaining sound, keeping their defenses up, making their respective rivals work hard to find the target, but, again, both fighters managing to do that with enough frequency to score consistently..."

Tess: "And Levy hasn't given up on the body. She's still doing plenty of work down there in this round."

O'Dell: "Is, indeed. Down and back up. Up and back down. Anna responding in kind some now, digging a little body herself, though she's mainly working up...RIGHT HAND, JANE! Levy a right hook and Paquin's hurt! Oh, that came out of nowhere, Mac!"

McCarthy: "Caught her dipping. Had the left held just a LITTLE low, and Levy dropped the right behind it!"

O'Dell: "And Anna's in trouble deep! Jane battering away at the blonde, forcing her back into the ropes, pounding at her guard with both hands. Anna up against it, both figuratively and literally, keeping the hands up, trying to run clock as Jane gets off lusty. Levy SNAPS back the blonde's head with a straight right! Paquin's legs wobble and the referee now looking in closely. Anna clinching, hanging on, again both figuratively and literally. Twenty seconds to go. Jane shoves her off, digs a hook to the midsection, bangs away upstairs again, looking to finish now. Ten seconds left. Levy a BLISTERING right, but Anna caught most of that on her gloves. Five seconds. Paquin going to make it. There's the bell! Levy wide, but Anna still alive!"

Cassie: "48-47, Jane at the half, but that was a very big round..."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Sixth begins with Jane looking to pick up where she left off. The redhead is after the blonde, who's still looking a bit ragged. Jane backing Anna up, immediately sending her to the defensive. Paquin covering, retreating, jabbing back in spots, but not doing anything to disrupt Jane at this point..."

McCarthy: "She needs to set her feet and punch, can't keep fighting off the back foot."

O'Dell: "But, that's where Levy has her at the moment. Jane all aggression and offense now, not throwing caution to the wind, but definitely reaching back on her punches and DOWN GOES ANNA! Oh, what a right hand by Jane Levy! A straight right that split the gloves and Paquin is blown to her back!"

Cassie (singing): "Turn out the lights. The party's ovvverrrrr..."

McCarthy: "Will you stop SINGING???"

O'Dell: "Jane to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Anna shaking her head back and forth, now drapes the right arm over her eyes. Eight. Not going to happen. Nine. TEN! It's over! Paquin can't beat the count and your winner by KO6 is 'The Marin County Marauder', Jane Levy!"

Tess: "Let's take a look at that right hand. Excellent timing on it by Levy. Here's the jab that lands on the gloves and watch the right in behind. BOOM! Splits them perfectly and sends Anna to defeat."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore."

Tess: "I have our winner, Jane Levy, and, Jane, another win tonight..."

Jane (nodding): "Just all about learning for me right now. Every opponent a different challenge, and I have to find ways to deal with those challenges. So far, so good."

Tess: "We were remarking at the table about how smooth and poised you are for a fighter with only a handful of FCBA fights. You seem to be learning quickly..."

Jane: "I have a long way to go, and I'm not kidding myself about that. But, I'm getting better every time out, and that's the point of all this. I'm not ready for the top level girls yet. But, I'll get there."
