Before: Book on Alyssa's always been: if she's in shape, she's tough to beat. Milano preening in prefight, pulling up her tank top to reveal hard abs, firm muscle: spunky brunette looks ready for Danes. "I think Milano's an underated talent," admits Danes in prefight. "She's bantamweight strong, she's quick, she's technically more sound than people give her credit - I don't take her lightly." Claire in sporty plaid bikini, bra style top - Milano in gold cropped tankini, slick ponytail. Small gloves, both vixens.

During R1: Milano smart - attacking up tempo, taking a little leverage off the punches just to make certain of contact. Quick batting barrage of harrassing lefts and rights baffling Claire - she's pivoting to her left, ducking and swivelling, but getting tapped and clubbed about her head and shoulders. Time and again, Claire trying to achieve separation steps out and takes a saucy punch in her face. Milano forward, chugging away straight lefts and rights, hooking ribcage whenever she gets into position - she runs Claire around the ring, shuts her out in the first.

R2: Claire doing more right hand punching - looking to pre-empt, instill a little respect. Works: Alyssa face-spanked, rearing up and posing - Danes able get angles, point her left shoulder at Alyssa and swivel around her lead (left) foot in a bucket. Milano tentative - giving much more upperbody movement, dipping under Danes' limber punching but unable to answer back. Return-of-serve shutout, Danes.

R3: Milano spitting jabs to chest and face, answering Claire's right hands - Alyssa regaining initiative and hounding Danes again. Claire pivoting/retreating, ducking her head, trying to find spots to punch, but Milano's on in waves, swarming blonde with pesky, quick-mitt punches. Danes cuffed and buffetted to ropes: Milano able to set her feet and do some real punching to the waist, especially via the short digging hook. Claire hunkering down, elbows in: she's comfortable warring inside, but prefers to give an angle - squared up like this, she's not strong enough to compete toe-to-toe with a VERY fresh Alyssa Milano. Round ends to the thudding tune of Alyssa's busy fists pounding into Claire's torso-meat: Danes shaken at the bell as Milano retakes the lead.

R4: Alyssa with that spitting jab, scooting footwork putting pressure on Claire and hounding her to ropes once again. Danes cute as they come off the ropes - rolling punches with her shoulders, dipping to either side and looking to come back uppercuts - but Alyssa's swamping volume taking away Danes' breath away. Milano setting a blistering, Dani Fishel pace - hook-hooking Claire in the ribs; clanging righty up top; palming up and bodying Danes flat against ropes for more abuse. Alyssa bashing Claire's perky jugs with gleeful disrespect: Claire gritting her teeth, isn't used to girls stacking her up and pounding her puppies. Danes punching off her heels - swiping and clipping, then covering up - she's being muscled, bullied for points through 4.

R5: What th'? Claire turns puncher! Danes dangling her left hand to step into haymaking rights - she SCORCHES Alyssa a right cross on the chin, steps and gets a swinging sidearm right on the cheek as Milano's stomping in fence post holes. Looping right on the eye; bump with the left shoulder and swinging right uppercut as Milano's toppling backward. Alyssa hits ropes staring, wobbly butt: Claire jumps in, left hand at her side, turning her torso to pull home a SWEEPING right to the pit of Milano's stomach. Alyssa groaning, pitching forward to clinch: Danes hops back, picks Milano up the left uppercut, then drives back in with the cross as Alyssa leans back. POUNDING impact swivels Milano's head, spraying sweat in a misty corona under the lights: Claire hops right, teeth bared as she pulls the left across Alyssa's face; shifts feet to swing a hard right hand across Milano's mouth. Alyssa swooning, mouthpiece dribbling down her chest, arms crossed - SHE'S SHIPPING CLAIRE'S HARDEST PUNCHES! Danes all-in - strapping and stroking lefts and rights - battering Alyssa, lathering her and MILANO SINKS TO HER KNEES! Alyssa busted up, cut at the hairline, stunned and dishevelled - she sits back on her haunches and CAN'T BEAT THE COUNT! KO5 in spectacular fashion, Claire Danes. (Slow mo footage - Claire leaning in close to a staring Alyssa, pulling a right across the chin, turning through the shot with the entire torso - Milano's head on a swivel, drooping back into position waxy-eyed, open-mouthed. Claire setting her hips, shifting feet just a smidge, then hauling the left through the zone, twisting sleek into the delivery - great slinging wallop, Danes!)

After: Up is down, black is white: Alyssa Milano steamrolling Claire on the cards, winning the decision when Danes of all people turns brawler to torch brunette strongwoman for the stoppage! "I've always been able to punch," Claire boasts, despite piles of evidence to the contrary, "in fact, early in my career, I was promoted that way. I thought Alyssa was getting a little full of herself, a little reckless - I thought I could surprise her with something, and guess what? I did! I don't get a lot of KOs, so anytime I can wear a girl out, it's special." Milano blubbering, trembling on her stool - Claire's assault so sudden, so unexpected, poor Alyss still doesn't know what to make of it.
