Lea Seydoux vs. Olivia Munn
(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

Seydoux, the new Bond girl, getting a big opportunity for a pay-per-view fight against a high-profile former champion. The French beauty, who has all of four FBCA wins, and half of those at fly, is a heavy dog, and she knows it. "People still don't believe in me," the blonde says with a shake of the head. "I thought I'd proved something against Fox this summer, but, apparently not. Well, tonight, I will make a splash they can't ignore when I knock out Munn."

Olivia not making much of an effort to hide her amusement at Seydoux's confidence. "I guess she can fight a little bit," the Munnster says with a trace of a smile. "But, she's hunting grizzly with a slingshot tonight."

ROUND ONE:

Seydoux wants to box. No surprise, because Lea's giving up the size here, Munn being a full bantam and the blonde a hybrid. A game of cat and mouse quickly develops, with Olivia trying to close an bang, while the French beauty sticks and moves. Lea very lithe and athletic. She moves very well. She's clearly trained for exactly what she's doing, the jab and circle. Munn works hard to match footwork, square the blonde up, but Lea's hard to find. She's in constant motion, snapping the jab off the back foot, not allowing Munn to get set and bring the heavier guns to bear. The blonde's getting into rhythm quickly, getting a quick right on here and there, but always moving, moving, moving. Munn not frustrated. She's seen this game before. There are plenty of bantams who don't exactly relish standing in front of the brunette and dealing with her physicality. She keeps working. Keeps stalking. But, she rarely catches up to her rival, and, when the bell rings, it's Lea up 10-9.

ROUND TWO:

Munn beginning to solve the puzzle. She's getting the footwork down and getting square on Lea more. That's bad news for Seydoux, who, again, does not want to be trading with the brunette. But. It's not all bad news. Olivia's getting square MORE, but she's not getting square nearly as often as she'd like. Seydoux still causing trouble with that movement, still forcing the former champion to stalk, and still getting points scored in that process. The jab is very impressive. She throws it quickly. She throws it a lot. And she lands a high percentage of those straight lefts. She's landing fewer rights this round because of the increased brunette pressure, but she's getting a few of those home as well. Munn, meanwhile, being Munn, effectively aggressive. Not wild. Not sloppy. But always with the foot on the gas pedal. It's good, two-way stuff all the way to the bell, but it's Olivia who claims it narrowly, evening things at 19.

ROUND THREE:

More Munn. Too much more for the blonde challenger. Olivia much more effective in this stanza, getting the ring cut and the pressure on, forcing long exchanges that her heavier hands allow her to get the better of. Seydoux game, hanging in there, firing back, able to hold back at least some of the tide, but Munn beginning to assert the control everyone thought they'd see. Olivia showing all the tools you want in a top bantam, excellent athleticism, great feet, superb physicality, and a motor that just won't stop. She's just as strong late in the round as she is in the opening seconds, and just as aggressive, too. It's an example of why the brunette has held the bantamweight belts, and why she's a betting favorite to do so again. By the end of the round, Oliva's firing on all cylinders for the first time, and it's grim stuff for Lea, trapped on the ropes, taking heavy fire. When the bell, mercifully, sounds, Munn's claimed the round and has the lead 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

More pressure from Olivia. She's trapping and backing the blonde now, roughing her up, using all that Munn physicality to cause the French beauty all sorts of problems. Lea getting out hit and getting hit too much. It's just a matter of time until...SEYDOUX ROCKS MUNN? It's the classic keyhole right hand counter, and Lea times it perfectly...and everything changes in that instant. Munn wobbles, takes two steps back, and covers up. And what was looking like a Munn romp becomes a Seydoux sweep. Lea's all over Olivia, backing her slowly to the ropes and giving her a thorough thrashing. At first, she's working primarily upstairs, but, as Munn begins rolling with while keeping the guard high, the blonde goes body, piling up points and putting a serious investment in Munn's sturdy frame. Olivia finally rights the ship late, works her way off the ropes and back to the center, but, it's far too late to save anything. It's Seydoux wide and we're even again at 38.

ROUND FIVE:

Olivia slowed a bit on the stalk as the legs aren't all the way back yet. Seydoux taking advantage early, going back to the stick and move, circling, jabbing, having her way, but, it's short-lived. Olivia's awesome, sturdy gams firm up, and Munn begins squaring some again, and, when she does, getting off in combination. It's a replay of round two, with both fighters having moments. Seydoux gaining points in open canvas, powdering Oliva's lovely face with leather. Munn doing her damage when she can cut and square, thumping leather home to the Frenchwoman's head and body. Again, it's good stuff from both fighters, and, as Seydoux holds her own with Munn yet again, people at ringside have to be asking if this is the same woman who got starched in under a round by Kat Dennings. When the bell rings, it's close once again, but, again, Munn's gotten the better of things and taken a 48-47 lead.

ROUND SIX:

Munn upping the pressure early. She's looking to grab control of this thing now, and she's going about it the right way. She's working the feet, cutting the ring, closing, then getting off with both hands. Seydoux being forced back, giving ground, covering up as Munn brings the heavier leather to bear. BOOM! Munn staggers and nearly goes down! Seydoux keyholes that right hand counter AGAIN! And, again the blonde immediately understands the opportunity in front of her, and she takes full advantage of it. She's all in this time, winging away with both hands, sitting down on her punches, backing Munn up, finally trapping her on the ropes and letting her have it. Again, though, Olivia's sturdy legs do the brunette proud. They not only hold her up, they begin to come back late, allowing, again, the brunette to force her way off the ropes and get out of trouble. But, again, Seydoux's turned a round with one perfect punch, and she's grabbed the sixth wide to even things yet again, this time at 57.

ROUND SEVEN:

Like in round five, a little slower start for Munn as she shakes off the results of the sixth. Seydoux able to move and stick early, score with that sharp left while staying safely in open canvas. Munn begins to change all that about thirty seconds in, however, as, again, she pressures effectively. She's crowding Seydoux now, working body, backing her up slowly. Lea working hard to stay off the ropes, but, inexorably being driven there by a determined Munn. Again, Olivia's heavier shell winning the day. BOOM!  Again? Again! The keyhole right one more time! Munn's head swivels and she stumbles. Seydoux steps in and lands a left uppie and a vicious right hook and DOWN GOES MUNN! Olivia dropped on her face, landing with a thud. She's out before she hits the canvas, the count a mere formality. Shades of Holly Holm! The crowd stunned silent then roaring as the French beauty leaps into her handlers' arms as the count reaches ten! Good lord, your winner by KO7 in STUNNING fashion is Lea Seydoux!

AFTER:

Seydoux beaming in the post-fight. This is a HUGE win for the French beauty, and it's even bigger coming on the heels of a victory over Megan Fox. "Do you believe now? Do you believe now?" The crowd roars. They believe. "Lea Seydoux is for real. And Lea Seydoux will be the FIRST French FCBA bantamweight champion!"
