(Words: ABC / Results: Lookout!)

Pre-fight:
Jaimie Alexander has impressed so far with a 2-0 record, but Anne Hathaway promises to be a tough challenge despite having lost her only bout this year, to Katrina Bowden, who Jaimie scored a TKO against in her most recent bout.

Jaimie calm and respectful as she contemplates her potential hattrick. “Everybody loves Anne. I can’t imagine I’ll have a massive contingent of fans against her, but hopefully I’ll have a few extras afterwards. I think I can take her, I’ve just got to stick to the game plan. I want my third win straight, and I want to feel confident moving onto stronger competition.”

Anne a little anxious, perhaps believing the hype surrounding relatively unknown Alexander. “Jaimie is on her way up and I’m trying not to fall out. It’s an important bout for sure, but if I can beat her, it will be a big statement for me. I’m ready.”

Round 1:
The talented Lightweights circle, looking for an opening, and soon Anne thinks she spots one, popping a jab that brings up Jaimie’s guard, just to thump a glove into tight abs. Jaimie clearly feeling it, but answering back with a jab combo that clips pretty cheek, not allowing Hathaway to press her advantage. The two trade testing jabs, getting a feel for each other here early, until Anne decides she knows what she needs to and fakes out Jaimie before launching into her tight tummy again with a devastating right. A little more Alexander tummy is found throughout the last minute and Jaimie is hunched and struggling for breath as the round ends and she is slowly able to puff her way over to her stool.

Round 2:
The two fit brunettes test each other again, Jaimie still getting a feel for Anne, but playing a tight game, not willing to expose her midriff too much to her opponent again. Jabs are traded, taking mostly guard, but glancing off cheeks occasionally. Then Jaimie slips left and buries a hook into Anne’s flat stomach, lining her up straight after with a cross that bounces off her right eye, troubling her. Jaimie chases and snaps quick jabs at temples, staggering Anne a little, but not getting anything too devastating to land. Anne tries to retaliate, but Jaimie’s guard is tight and swift and she finds an opening on the counter, ripping an uppercut that crushes Anne’s left tit, dropping her jaw. Jaimie wanting more, but the bell comes to Anne’s salvation before that jaw can be forcibly closed.

Round 3:
Anne seems insulted by the blow to her breast and comes out with devastating force, laying into Jaimie with zero remorse. Jaimie’s thin tummy is beaten until that guard opens up and then a thundering cross takes Alexander’s chin, dropping her straight off her feet. Anne grinning as Jaimie struggles to pick herself up, but does. Jaimie just wanting the round to be over as she protects her head fiercely, even leaving bruised midriff to be battered more and more.

Round 4:
Jaimie still groggy to start the fourth, has a definite leaning towards defence, and particularly up high. Anne happy to take what is on offer, and slams gloves into those abs and surrounding ribs. Jaimie wincing, grimacing, and leaning against the ropes late as her insides are churned relentlessly. Body bruised, but somehow not quite broken, Jaimie collapses on her stool as soon as the round ends. Anne looking confident and relatively fresh on the opposite side of the ring.

Round 5:
Jaimie clearly tired, hangs in as best she can, trying to give herself a chance to rest, and Anne is happy to use the provided freedom to jab high and shovel low, landing more blows to weeping Jaimie’s crumbling midriff. Jaimie covers up as best she can, collecting jabs and a number of hooks, reserving herself until she can find that second wind, praying that it comes to her before she gets sloppy and leaves that jawline open again.

Round 6:
Jaimie shuffles in, clearly exhausted, but movement less restricted after giving herself some time without any major blows in the last round. Anne hunts those busted abs again, and after collecting the blow, Jaimie realizes a chance to counter, snapping an uppercut from her waist that stops right under Anne’s chin, lifting her right off her feet. Anne slams on her back, stunned, as the crowd reacts similarly, completely surprised at the turn of momentum. Anne is up though, and Jaimie pushes now, but Anne isn’t done, more shocked than hurt, and she still manages to shovel in some hooks to Jaimie’s sides before the round ends.

Round 7:
Anne looks a little confused and weary, but she wades in, ready to slam those underhooks into abs again. But, Jaimie wants none of it and smashes right fist forward into pretty features, stunning Hathaway from the start. Then it’s all Jaimie, who has completely turned this thing around. Visibly exhausted, but laying sloppy haymaker after haymaker at stunned Anne’s head, Jaimie launches into an all-out assault, determined to go for it. Poor Anne takes an absolute battering as lefts and rights bounce off her temples and she is completely bewildered as she barely manages to find her corner once the bell sounds.

Round 8:
Anne tries to strike wanting to put Jaimie on the back foot again to start the eighth, and connects with cheek, but Jaimie launches back, slamming jawline, and Anne is staggered again. Proudly and honourably, Anne willingly engages in back and forth exchange, but it is clear she’s shaken, despite staggering Jaimie with shots to the face in answer. Eventually one iron jaw must give and it’s Anne’s. Jaimie finds room for an uppercut, and finally Anne’s eyes go blank as she floats back and bounces off of the ropes, colliding with the mat soundly. KO8, Jaimie Alexander!

Post-fight:
Anne and Jaimie both exhausted, though Jaimie wears a smile, seemingly all that separates them. Anne showed lots of skill, and grit near the end, but ultimately Jaimie has found her third win in as many starts.

“I need to lie down,” Alexander admits, clutching at wounded stomach. “I feel like I’m going to throw up everywhere. But hey, I got the hat trick. Maybe I’m ready to make a move up the rankings. Seems scary though. I know how much the girls can hurt you even at this mark.”

Anne was unable to comment as she was aided away from the ring, still out of it. She did manage to flash the thumbs up though, suggesting we’ll see her again soon. Good, because she puts on one hell of a show. Perhaps she’ll find an opponent that isn’t made of steel. She’ll be okay.
