UNIFIED BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE CH DANI FISHEL VS MINKA KELLY
Results: Lookout   Writing: Archer
Danielle:  34 YO, 5’1 (1.55 m), 127-83-12 since 1999, Foxfire Boxing
Minka: 25 YO. 5’5 (1.65 m), 35-16-1 since 2007, Lioness Club of America

Before: “I don’t believe in easy title defenses and I don’t think anyone would say Minka Kelly is an easy opponent—though she would make one sexy cupcake if she were.”

The reporters laugh. Minka looks slightly puzzled as though trying to figure out if she’s just been insulted. Dani Fishel just grins impishly.

“You need to loosen up, Minkie, you’ll have a lot more fun around here if you do,” Dani offers helpfully.

“It’s been just loads of fun so far,” Minka replies, “and don’t call me ‘Minkie’—it’s diminishing.”

“It is?” Dani replied in puzzlement, “Well, you know, you got 4 inches and 9 years on me, Minkie, I got to use whatever I came to trim ya down.”

Minka looked grumpy: “I should have known I’d get a comedy routine from you.”

“I’m just doing my thing, Minkie, I actually sort of like you,” Dani continued. “It’s a shame I’ll have to beat you down, but I like those belts and it’s way too soon to give them up.”

“I have other ideas on the subject,” Minka retorted coolly, “I think you should be sure those belts are polished up. I expect them to be in first-class condition when they are turned over to me as the new champion.”

“I’ll lick them clean myself,” Dani said impish as Minka made a face of disgust. “Oh, come on, Minkie, lighten up, I was joking.”

“All I want is a good fight and good win—and those belts,” Minka said.

“Well, Minkie, I can guarantee you the good fight, but I’ll be the one with the good win and the belts,” Dani replied amiably.

“Dani?” Minka said.

“Yes?” Dani inquired

“If I win, I want something else besides the belts.” Minkas said thoughtfully.

“Oh? What do you have in mind? My bra top perhaps, I have it cleaned—“ Dani chattered on.

“NO!” Minka cried in some alarm,  then said more quietly: “I want you to stop calling me ‘Minkie’.”

“Well, I dunno,” Dani said pondering the proposition. “ I like calling you that, but if you’re going to get whiny about it, then I will at least consider it. Minkie, you’ll have to beat me first, you know.”

“I know,” Minka said and rubbed her hands together in anticipation of that prospective outcome.

The night of the fight rolled around. Minka Kelly strolled to the ring in a dynamic black bikini. She waved and smiled to her many fans in the crowd, but this was merely a warm-up act for the appearance of the Champion. Dani made her walk to the ring wearing a short robe over her white bikini which her curvy little body filled so well. Always a crowd favorite, Dani’s recent success had made her even more fans and they were deafening as their beloved “Tank” beared the ring. Dani smiled, waved and even did a little shadow boxing for the fans. Minka watched this with her arms crossed, foot tapping and an annoyed look on her face. Once in the ring, Dani shed the robe leaving her in the white bikini with white gloves and black boots. Minka wore black gloves and boots. Both had their hair pulled back. Dani’s held in place by a simple rubber band and Minka’s with a white ribbon.

“It took you long enough to get here,” Minka snapped impatiently.

“I’ll try to pick up the pace during the fight,” Dani replied soothingly. “Soon you’ll be sleeping peaceful on the canvas. “Sleeping like a Minkie’ people will say.”

Minka sighed: “I guess I will never get you to shut up until you are the one on the canvas.”

“Could be,” Dani agreed. Then she turned to the referee and said in a stage whisper they heard in the back of the arena: “I think you better get this show on the road, Minkie here is getting really annoyed.”

The referee rolled his eyes and did proceed to get through the preliminaries without further ado. Minka recovering her control did a simple glove touch with Dani who simply nodded and walked to her corner. The bell rang.

R1: Dani was quick to cross the ring and plow into Minka, gloves driving hard into Minka’s midsection. The sheer driving fury of the attack obliged Minka to move backwards as she tried to get her protective jab going. Dani’s arms were moving like pistons as she pumped her leather into belly, breasts and sternum. Minka struggled to keep the champion off and not doing it well early, but gradually Minka was able to use footwork to create some breathing space for herself. Then Dani paused to consider what to do next, it was only a second or two, but it was enough for Minka to rally and come in hammering Dani’s cheeks and breasts. Dani fell back under the impacts, but quickly rallied and dueled with Minka with some hard hitting breast busting action. Minka then tried to cut around Dani, but Dani circled with her and banged some quick shots ton Minka’s face. Stung with the blows to her forehead and eyebrows, Minka pulled back and tried to cover her retreat with her jab. Dani’s face took some bruising leather but she hung in close to the bell and cinched the round for her card, though Minka made it a close one.

R2:  Minka seemed to learned the folly of allowing Dani Fishel to seize the initiative in a round and so immediately went at the champ. Dancing around Dani, Minka tried to use her superior reach to knock Dani’s noggin, but Dani bored right in close and Minka found herself fighting toe to toe with her opponent. Dani was back at Minka’s body with her relentless pounding gloves, but her head was batted around by Minka’s counterpunching. Then Minka dropped back fired straight into Dani’s face uncovered as her gloves stabbed at Minka’s chest. Minka suffered the boob abuse as she could see blood leaking from cuts over both of the champ’s eyebrows and took heart. She circled and continued to hammer Dani, mainly to the head and finally the champ was forced to fall back to regroup. Minka found Dani’s head better guarded now, so she switched her attack to the champion’s body. Dani’s counterpunching fell off and she was hunched up protectively rather than punching back. This allowed Minka to win the round by a wide margin.

R3: Dani seemed to rise to the challenge in this round, again forcing herself in close to Minka, but also trying to keep the challenger from being too mobile this round. Once more Minka found herself and body being swamped by Fishel leather. Gasping and writhing as her breasts and belly were battered over and over. Minka did get her jab going and once again it did much damage to Fishel’s face, but seemed to only slightly slow Dani’s punchrate. Dani emerged after the bell with her face red and puffy, but she had pulled out a close points win. Minka’s body was splotched with red marks that promised to blossom into black and blue, but she looked more exasperated than hurt.

R4: Dani and Minka clashed at mid-ring this round and battled for control of the round. Minka was heaving her rights and lefts into Dani’s face and head. Dani was still trying to ignore this, though she did hunch up as she struck at Minka’s body with fresh energy. Minka was now working the sides of Dani’s head and gradually she pushed a slowing Dani Fishel back. Now she went after Dani’s breasts and belly. Dani stubbornly tried to hold her ground and took a heavy shelling in return. A cracking right off Dani’s jaw sent the champion spinning away, though she quickly recovered, she was still behind Minka Kelly who won the round comfortably on points.

R5: Dani came forward once again as Minka Kelly drew near and once more she tried to pound her way in close through a hail of jabbing leather. Minka again was pounded to the body but she made the champion pay in a fierce jabbing defense. Yet Dani showed her great durability by not letting the punishment deter her from striking hard at Minka. However Minka began to press forward as her blows began to cause Dani to falter and foot by foot she forced the champion back. By the end of the round both fighters were breathing hard, sweat rolling down their aching bodies, but glaring determinedly at each other. Officially, the point total added up (by a close margin) in Minka Kelly’s favor, but she looked nearly as weary slumped on her stool as the older Dani Fishel.

R6: The battle of attrition resumed in the 6th stanza with the two fighters again should shoulder to shoulder trying to drive against the other. Dani’s energy reserves seemed give her the strength to thunder her punches into Minka’s already aching body causing the challenger to cry out especially the driving hooks to her tenderized belly and breasts. Dani was grinning fiercely as she drove Minka into retreat to escape the bombardment. Minka proved elusive at this point and kept her legs strong to the bell. However the round went to the champion by a wide margin.

R7: Now it was Minka Kelly on the attack as Dani Fishel seemed sluggish coming off her stool. Minka seemed to find her reserve energies in this round and paid the champion back with a furious punching attack on her own. Dani was able to keep her head protected this time, but she was ravaged to the body by Minka’s avenging leather which sank into Dani’s cushy flesh. Yet Dani’s legs seemed to remain steadfast, keeping her in the battle as the champion struggled to keep Minka back, though not it did seemed to discourage the challenger’s all-out effort. It did ensure Minka would win the round by a large margin and leave the champion’s face and body heavily bruised and swollen.

R8: Dani doggedly rose off her stool and headed out to meet Minka Kelly. While Dani’s second wind seen in the 6th Round seemed to have faded, but Minka Kelly’s still going strong, She went at the champion with this renewed. She struck first to the belly until she had forced Dani’s guard down to protect her torso, then Minka went after the champion’s chin. Dani was stgruck again and again, but the effect slow to radiate through her body which seemed to be fighting on sheer instinct. Minka took to circling to draw the stupefied Dani off balance and then strike at her head again and again. The clock was ticking towards the third minute when SUDDENLY DANI FISHEL WAS DOWN. It wasn’t so much the final right to her swollen jaw as the accumulation of punches that sent the champion crashing onto her back with dramatic suddenness. Minka wearily went to the neutral corner as the referee began to count. Dani lay there on her back, star-fished arms and legs flung out from her body, breasts heaving, legs moving slightly, but eyes fluttering as her head moved from side to side.
“NINE!...TEN!!...YOU’RE OUT!!!”
It was over, Minka Kelly clutched the top rope she had been leaning against and burst into tears.
THE WINNER AND NEW UNIFIED BANTAMWEIGHT CHAMPION: MINKA KELLY (KO8)

After: Minka is warmly congratulated and hugged by her LCA teammates. She looks over as Dani Fishel is helped to her corner and brought around. Minka hurries over to the Foxfire corner first chance she gets.

“Well?” Minka asked as Dani looks up at her from her stool.

“Okay, you’re ‘Minka’, but I still think ‘Minkie’ was kind of cute,” Dani said somehow managing a smile through her swollen lips.

“Fishel--Dani—you have earned the right to call me ‘Minkie’—I always heard you were tough, you are so darned hard to take down--,” Minka said.

Dani let out a rueful sigh: “Not tough enough to beat you tonight. Take care of those belts, Minkie, some really good fighters have worn them—including me, of course—they deserve all the respect you can give them.”

“I’ll take good care of them,” Minka said sincerely and gave Dani a hug. Then she headed back across the ring to where the officials waited to present her with her very first set of title belts.

“You know,” Dani whispered mischievously to trainer Virginia Madsen, “I think Minkie deserves a trophy to mark her first title— something more permanent--one she can keep in a place of honor.”

“You wouldn’t—“ Virginia said, but she saw the gleam in Dani’s swollen eye and knew she would.
Sure enough, the two days later, a special messenger came to the Lioness Club of America training center and brought Minka Kelly a fancily gift wrapped box with an engraved card: TO MINKIE FROM DANI.

“Maybe we should have it x-rayed for a bomb,” Jessica Lowndes suggested as she and the other LCA crew eyed the box.

“No, I don’t think it will explode,” Minka said with a shake of her head as she unwrapped the box, spread open tissue paper to reveal the gleaming freshly laundered and ironed white bikini top Dani had worn in the fight. “I swear Fishel is nuts, but you gotta love her.”

“I don’t know about loving her,” Jessica said, “but I do admire her nerve—and her taste in bikini tops.”

Minka just laughed at least until her bruises made her wince. These aches pains would fade, but she knew she would keep this odd trophy much, much longer and smile when she looked at it.

A very exciting contest that saw both fighter inflict a great deal of punishment on the other and things were kept quite even until late. Then it seemed like Minka’s younger body was able to keep going as the valiant veteran Fishel faded to a knockout. Future looks bright for the newly minted champion Minka Kelly, but has Dani Fishel seen her last championship hurrah? Her fans hope not, but only time can answer that question. In the meantime there is a new champion at bantamweight and her future seems bright.
