Pre-fight:
Rachael Leigh Cook looks for a hattrick of wins since her comeback trail started a month ago. Since then she has taken down Samia Ghadie and the talented young Emily Osment. “Amy Adams is an impressive woman. I’m not expecting this to be easy, but I am expecting this to be doable. I feel great. I feel like I’m where I wanted to be last time I had management. There’s just something about this stable. I feel ready. I’m definitely back. I’m going to prove it against Amy tonight.”

Amy looks eager. “I have talent and I’m smart and it’s about time I was given the chance to prove it. I’ll show Rachael what untapped potential really looks like.”

Round 1:
Rachael and Amy testing each other with probing jabs early, Amy finding Rachael’s temple more than once, and Rachael finding pretty Amy cheek. A flurry of hooks form Amy tenderises Rachael’s sides and she fights back, albeit wincing the whole time, cracking an underhand to Amy’s jaw, putting a stop to her rib-work. Amy shovels underhook into Cook’s flat tummy, driving air from her and then tiring her out some more with short hooks to cute jugs, bunching them up and causing Rachael some real grief. Rachael is forced to cover and bide time, playing defence until she can find a place to put her right glove; Amy’s sweet left cheek again. By the end of the first round, both women look like they’ve been going at it for far more than a few minutes, but Rachael is certainly slower to her corner, holding midriff and chest.

Round 2:
Rachael opens the second with some revenge on Amy’s jugs, lifting them with rising hooks, causing Amy to cover early, opening that beautiful left cheek again which gets BLASTED by Rachael’s right hook. Amy is staggered, guard slowly coming up, and Rachael gladly takes ribs and tummy before flashing a left overhand that bounces off of Amy’s temple and wobbles her again. Rachael pursues, jabbing at face, and Amy takes more stinging shots as she backpedals before getting the guard up. Amy eventually settles and guards appropriately, slipping left even to drive a strong hook to Rachael’s right side. Rachael lurches, and Amy finds follow-up temple, stopping Cook’s dominance, at least for now.

Round 3:
Amy wants low on those ribs and Rachael wants high on that slowly bruising left cheek. Rachael is quicker, snapping jabs into face and Amy looks sore, but she still slams a hook into Rachael’s right side, getting a grimace and a slow of pace on those fists. Amy follows with a jab that snaps into Cook’s left eye and as Rachael’s head is swimming, Amy buries glove in deep to that sexy midriff. Rachael’s tummy showing some bruising and the look on her face is not a happy one. But she continues the jabs, peppering Amy’s cute face until Amy buries another fist into those abs.

Round 4:
Amy finds Rachael’s tummy straight away and it’s not good for those lovely abs, which are starting to look mottled and softened. Rachael covering, taking a cross to the jaw that has her bouncing along the ropes. Amy chases with peppering jabs at face, but Rachael deflects most and then slams a left hook to Amy’s ribs, shocking her by the looks of things. The two start trading hooks to sides, and before too long Rachael is wilting; that torso having taken far more than its share of punishment so far this bout. Rachael sags against the ropes, cute ass propped against them as Amy sinks more fists into her swelling midsection. But a defiant Cook RIPS an uppercut from nowhere that cracks under Amy’s jaw and shocks everybody! Cook taking a moment to hug ribs before slamming right cross to incoming Adams, swelling that left cheek mercilessly. Both beauties looking tired and dishevelled as they plop into their respective corners after four.

Round 5:
Amy hunts that ravaged midriff, but Rachael blocks and HAMMERS right glove into the middle of Amy’s face. Redhead staggered as blood seeps from her nose and Rachael goes to work, pumping jabs that snap Amy’s head back and forth. And Adams looks stunned. Rachael occasionally mixing it up with slams to ribs and breadbasket and Amy is struggling, reeling along the ropes, just being battered by Cook who is like a machine right now. The most attractive rock’em-sock’em robot we’ve ever seen shovels hooks like pistons that jam over and over into ribs and they’re definitely under distress judging by Amy’s lolling, gasping face. Amy almost falls over in her corner at the end of the round, and it’s a small miracle that the ref didn’t call this off right there. Cook has come alive, and if Adams doesn’t change something drastically in between rounds, she will be toast very soon.

Round 6:
Rachael is full of confidence and a second wind of energy right now and she enters the sixth with dogged determination to crack one of those ribs. Cook is back on auto-pilot, hammering at those ribs and Amy is reeling, trying to cover, but taking an absolute battering. And once Amy hunches slightly, Rachael’s right glove rips upwards in uppercut fashion, clocking Amy’s chin and dropping her straight to the mat. Amy is out completely and Rachael Leigh Cook wins, KO6!

Post-fight:
Cook holds an icepack to those bruised and swollen abs of hers, but looks happy. “I probably need to work on not allowing such a battering to take place, but I think withstanding that to then crack Amy apart has its definite positives. And that’s three in a row. I haven’t done that since I dropped Chabert, Portman and Hannigan in 2005. Ten years ago. I’m back, baby! I’m excited!”

Amy Adams is an incoherent mess directly after the bout and there is no discernible comment able to be taken from her. Let’s hope she recovers well and returns to the cage soon, because that strong start suggests she has something worthwhile to give if she can channel it, and she sure looks fine working that ring. Of course, 41 is a tough age to start getting focused on it. But she’s not that far behind Cook’s 36, and she has looked pretty good on her return.
