Pre-fight:
Daisy her usual calm, cute self. “I’ve never heard of her, but to be fair, she likely hasn’t heard of me. It’s a good chance for us both to show the FCBA what we have. And I’m ready to do so.”

Lauren German either doesn’t care for Daisy, or she’s auditioning to be Daisy’s sith nemesis. “She’s soft. I’m going to prove she’s soft. She’s a goody-goody, friendly little cutie pie. And she’s soft. I’m going to make her cry, and I’m going to enjoy it.”

Round 1:
Daisy gets out of the gates quicker, the young Brit jabbing enthusiastically at Lauren’s face, landing a couple of shots that sting pretty cheeks, but Lauren able to find her guard and jabs back, taking a little temple, but not troubling Ridley in the slightest. Daisy continues to pepper Lauren’s high guard before switching to ribs, and Lauren is forced into fight or flight mode, swinging wildly to try and break Daisy’s early rhythm. A glove bounces off Daisy’s left eye, then right cheek, and she is forced to guard and reel. But Ridley comes back, swiftly, slamming a hook into Lauren’s left side before coming over the top with a killer left overhand that smacks hard across pretty cheek, knocking Lauren for a loop, and she is happy to see that round come to an end, collecting herself in her corner as Daisy saunters away confidently.

Round 2:
Daisy so far looking more comfortable than she has since her debut, but Lauren is happy to bring her back down to Earth with a clever fake out to ribs that evolves into a haymaker that clobbers Daisy’s left temple and has her staggered. Lauren goes to work, peppering Daisy’s face until she can find her guard, face flushed red and looking sore. Lauren alternates ribs and Daisy is in visible pain, but fights through, launching a straight right that rocks against Lauren’s left eye, knocking her away. The two come together again and Daisy finds Lauren’s abs, while Lauren jabs a glove into Daisy’s nose and follows up the pained Ridley with a cross that sees that battered right cheek bruised badly. Daisy not looking nearly as confident as the second comes to a close and she has the cut man check her out, obviously a little concerned about that pretty face being battered near senseless.

Round 3:
Both women clearly a little sore to start the third after beginning ferociously, and they’re willing to cool this a little. The crowd isn’t as convinced this is a stellar idea, but neither fighter willing to be influenced when pretty faces are on the line. Daisy protecting hers desperately as Lauren pops testing jabs, but not getting anything through. Then they switch, Daisy wanting to pop some jabs, but Lauren working the guard appropriately. Daisy goes under, pumping right glove into Lauren’s tummy, and now Lauren finds temple, followed by a shovel into Daisy’s abs. A lot of defense still as we continue, both fighters unwilling to risk taking a big shot.

Round 4:
Daisy has changed her mind, perhaps the advice of her corner. Lauren tight, but Daisy seems to have enjoyed the rest period that was the third and now she gives the people what they want, moving swiftly, basically running circles around Lauren, finding openings and peppering the beauty. Daisy looks in almost complete control, popping jabs at nose and temple to find heavy hooks into ribs and abs. Lauren trying to respond with jabs that don’t trouble Daisy and the young brunette slams a jab, cross combo that rips the skin under Lauren’s left eye and has her staggering aimlessly before the end of the round.

Round 5:
And now Daisy back to patience, confusing Lauren to no-end. Lauren looks tired, physically and mentally, and Daisy seems to be resting, perhaps hoping to load up for a big sixth. Interesting, and risky, strategy, but with Lauren still a little groggy and worried about that bleeding cheek of hers, Daisy seems to be able to deal with most of what’s thrown at her. Daisy almost toying with Lauren now as they just trade jabs. No-one doing any better scoring than the other, but Lauren is quite clearly being more affected by the whole mind-game situation.

Round 6:
Daisy looks patient again early, confusing the crowd who expected her to switch up again. But the game isn’t for them. Lauren comes in swinging, and that seems to be the idea, as Daisy counters, ducking an overhand and burying her right glove into Lauren’s midriff, then slamming left cross through the older woman’s right jaw. Lauren staggering and NOW Daisy loads up, swinging for the fences with everything she has. Lauren’s face taking most of the impact, Daisy slamming straights that bloody nose and blacken eyes. And then Daisy comes overhand with a right that socks temple followed with an uppercut that bounces chin and Lauren has flopped straight to her back. She is out like a light. Daisy Ridley wins, KO6!

Post-fight:
Daisy Ridley wins this battle and has certainly shown she is made of sterner and smarter stuff. New ABC GM Jennifer Connelly grinning in Ridley’s corner, and she clearly wasn’t lying about that cerebral approach of Daisy’s. One may have expected that to come back and bite her, but she made it work a treat, at least this time. Lauren is still having a nap.

Daisy looking a little bruised, but full of good spirit and that gorgeous smile. “My face is really sore. It was hurting bad after only two and I realized something needed to change. So, I changed it. It took me the first couple of rounds to work Lauren out, but I think I did, and then I just had to play it the right way. Well, I won! Isn’t that great?”

Lauren German looks unhappy, and still a little dazed, but still proud. “I’ll make her cry next time. It’ll be even more rewarding.”
