BEFORE: Scherri-Lee Biggs is another former beauty pageant seeking work after her Wildetime Boxing contract was terminated but Georgie Thompson gives her the old fashioned jobber resume especially given the tremendous start her tonight's rival enjoyed over the past few months. Nadia Forde has all the tools to become a fan favorite and a force to be reckoned with at both bantam and lightweight divisions; she silenced plenty of critics dismissing her as an "Irish tart" when she first put Zoe Salmon away and then beat Louise Glover into submission back in June. It's as tough as it gets and Sherri's decision loss to the durable Natalie Bassingthwaighte seems completely irrelevant to the big picture.
Scherri-Lee Biggs wears a floral red & blue schemed bikini set and white gloves. Long blonde hair in loose waves. Nadia Forde wears a classic Irish strip, green bikini top, white knickers and green gloves. Long brown hair in loose waves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Biggs tries to shake off the ring rust by pummelling into the brunette's guts in the early going but she gets belted across the lips within seconds too and this is where the recent form kicks in as Forde leaps into a jabbing galore thuming the blonde onto her heels on the minute mark and simply outworking her in close range to enforce a quick seperation. Sherri gets out of the striking zone well but there's no visible hurry up mode from the Irish model who settles into stalking her opponent with single punches for remainder of the round. Biggs prefers to bide her time in retreat and perhaps she saw all of Forde's antics earlier in the year to warrant a wise tactics on her return. But not throwing big punches to stop the Irish upstart isn't the way to go according to BBU TV crew.
Round 2:
Blonde seeks more time in the mid distance swing & miss effort and Nadia doesn't up the tempo much yet either almost trying to see out the pageant first. Well, there's nothing coming back from her apart from a half-hearted jabbing drill that bounces off the high guard and the crowd begins to wonder where the beef is before too long as the sluggish tempo of the fight contradicts the high-profile nature of the PPV billing. Biggs almost looks relieved she's survived six minutes against one of the hottest prospects in the division but a cheeky smile on Forde's face as she heads back to her corner indicates this is just a terrible decoy of things to come.
Round 3:
No easy defensive route along the ropes for Biggs anymore as she gets ROCKED with a power punch off the bat and reels on her heels with Nadia leaping into a massive jabbing galore that swivels the blonde's head back and forth in no time. She punches the mediocre pageant back to the ropes and nicks in with a couple of uppercuts that make the Scherri moan but Nadia only ups the tempo and finally tees off on those prospects by shellacking her foe into a standstill come the two minute mark. Biggs remains shut out and even a clinching effort struggles to tame the Irish drill as Nadia bumps the taller girl off and beats her for another punch over the top. Scherri earns herself a nasty shiner under the left eye and remains buried butt-in-ropes with Forde even dropping the ferocity of her attacks over the visible lack of resistance in the final minute.
Round 4:
The mis-match continues as Nadia punches her way onto the blonde's face and gives her another shiner under the other eye. Scherri lands a couple of heavy punches on her own but not nearly enough of them to tame the Irish charge. Nadia bumps the pageant off along the ropes and keeps hassling her over the top which forces a tight earmuff but Biggs fails to embrace the heat regardless and finally buckles under the barrage in the final minute. Nadia pounds her face at will and dissects the guard to swivel the blonde's head again but she only secures the ineviteable knockdown when she drills the exposed solar plexus and MAKES BIGGS CRUMBLE ON HER KNEES hugging the wounded spot. Easy as you like there and even the Welsh crowd supports some Irish success. Scherri scampers back upright at seven but remains trapped on the ropes and Nadia slams her with a couple of hooks extra before laughing out just shy of the bell when the blonde simply staggers onto the turnbuckle and spits out her mouthguard in a sign of surrender. But she gets to live another round as the ref only gives her a warning.
Round 5:
Nadia doesn't think about taking her foot off the gas anymore and buries the Aussie pageant under another solid barrage that quickly dismantles the guard and sends Biggs on her heels. A counterpunching try skims off the top of Nadia's forehead and leaves her exposed for a crunching right hook that nails her on the ear and sends into a tailspin on the spot. Scherri stumbles back to the ropes with a loud yelp and doesn't have enough agility left in her to cover for a looming cross hook mayhem... NADIA DRILLS THE MOUTHGUARD OFF THE BLONDE and it flies well into the stands while the poor blonde JACK-KNIVES FACE DOWN ON THE CANVAS... Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Green & Gold!!! Epic KO5 Nadia Forde!!!
AFTER: That was one of the most prolific knockouts delivered in the bantamweight division this year even without the alleged mismatch scenario. Nadia finally added some juice into her shots since the third round and by the time she put Scherri to sleep she was channelling a peak Imogen Thomas performance. And that might just be her next target and when the fight eventually happens, the Irish model can be certain that Cardiff Arena won't cheer her so vehemently as it does right now.
While the medical crew tries to revive an unconscious Biggs the winner talks to Georgie Thompson: "Yeah, I took my time here tonight. I was unsure whether she comes out firing but in fact she didn't so I just took it from the third round. And that was a good fight. Well, good for me (laughs). I know some naysayers still call me an "Irish tart" and a poor man's Imogen T. but well, that stuff comes from those looney PageThree models all of the time. I caught up with Rosie Jones in the locker room and told her she and her friends can suck balls but they better answer the door when I come knocking. And she looked spooked! I tell ya, her boobs were shaking all over! I don't think she wants to fight me all that much. Well, at least I can pounce on Imogen instead. Those Kats have enough courage in them to accept a challenge when they see one!"
Final result: Nadia Forde def. Scherri-Lee Biggs KO5.
