Margot Robbie vs. Nicole Scherzinger (At Christkindlmarkt, Bethlehem, PA.)
(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

Perhaps no two fighters who've climbed into the ring inside the tent tonight have filled out the elf bikinis better than stunning brunette Nicole, dark, toned, and lovely, and gorgeous, light-skinned blonde Margot. And, the colors of their hair and the tone of their skin are not the only contrasts here. Scherzinger WAS Robbie five years ago, a girl everyone had pegged as a star and future bantam champion. But, then came Berry, and Peet, and Cook, and winning six straight rounds against Holt before being knocked out in the seventh, and, two trades later, Nicole was 37 and on her third stable. Robbie, meanwhile, is fresh off her first title shot and still one of the hottest prospects in the FCBA's bantamweight division.

"It's all about HER," says Nicole with barely-repressed heat. "All these years, I never got one shot at the title, and she comes off three losses in four fights and waltzes into the ring with Fishel. Well, now she's lost four of five, and, when I'm done, it will be five of six."

"Poor Nicole," says Margot with a little smile. "She's got so MANY strengths. And only ONE little weakness." She stops, her smile broadens. And then she points at her chin.

ROUND ONE:

No doubt what we're going to see here, as the ladies styles contrast as much as their looks and current FCBA positions. Nicole wants to dance, use those great legs, all that speed and athleticism. Margot wants to come forward behind the jab with the chin tucked, look to bring Nicole to battle. And, it''s clear that whichever woman is able to enforce terms will be the one who succeeds on this evening. In the first, though, neither can. Nicole's all bouncing and snapping jabs, and she's able to make that work for points. But, at times, Margot manages to cut and crowd, thumping away at the lithe brunette, making her cover up and give ground. Scherzinger fights back hard in those exchanges and holds her own, but Margot's more effective when that's happening. and, as both fighters get some of what they want, the cards are close at the end of the round, but it's Nicole who's taken the points and leads 10-9.

ROUND TWO:

If you want to know why, why Scherzinger was a red hot prospect in 2010, when she first got management, and why in 2011 she shot to the top of the rankings and was on the verge of a title shot, well. All you have to do is watch what happens in the second. Scherzinger gets in rhythm, and makes her athletic 25-year-old opponent look like the 43-year-old Pam Anderson Nicole completely took apart back in 2010. Robbie can't do a thing. Nicole just isn't there when Margot tries to punch, and Nicole can't miss. Margot can't slip. She can't block. Everything that comes out lands, and lands clean. Margot isn't hurt, but she's spooked, flustered, can't get off. She's spending the whole round covering up, trying to find openings to counter that just aren't there. This is a good fighter being made to look bad. This is why. This is why the smart money would have had Nicole Prescovia Elikolani Valiente as a multiple-time FCBA bantamweight champion by now. This is WHY. At the bell, there's no doubt. Scherzinger wide. Nicole 20-18.

ROUND THREE:

This is why. This is why none of that ever happened. This is why the girl who seemed on the verge, who was brought in as an antidote to Britney Freaking Spears, who humiliated Jessica Alba, making her miss, making her look slow, out-Albaing Alba, never got there. Nicole's in command again early. Bouncing around, boxing Margot. Making her miss. But, then, Robbie DOESN'T miss. She lands a grazing jab. Nicole pulls her head left away from it, and Margot lands a hard right. Scherzinger staggers and nearly goes down. And, everything changes on a dime. Nicole's legs aren't there and Margot squares her up and beats her up, drives her into the ropes and batters her, pounding away at head and body while Scherzinger tries to cover up and clinch. Margot mauls and mugs, punching and shoving free, punishing the brunette, who's just hanging on by the end of the round. Nicole survives, but it's Robbie wide and Scherzinger's lead has been cut to 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Say what you will about Scherzinger. Say she never reached her potential. Say she doesn't have a chin. But, don't say she doesn't have guts. Because, as she's amply demonstrated on several occasions, she has those to spare. And, she needs all of them in the fourth. Heavy-legged and woozy, the brunette beauty is an easy target for the rampaging blonde, and Margot takes full advantage. She spends the entire round getting very physical with the brunette, sitting down on her punches, working body, bodying up, trapping Nicky against the ropes and battering her. Scherzinger fights back as well as she can. She takes loads of punishment and keeps shipping it. She's nearly sent down twice, but she won't go. She hangs in and hangs on despite the beating. The referee is watching carefully by the final minute, but he continues to watch. Nicole loses it wide, and Margot evens things at 38, but Scherzinger's still standing.

ROUND FIVE:

Margot keeps coming, gets a little sloppy early, looking to finish, allows Scherzinger to land some tangy counters. And, slowly, Nicole works her way back into the fight. The legs begin coming back, and she begins slipping punches and getting her jab on. Margot remains effective as well, though, chin tucked, walking Nicole down behind that left jab, and, after three consecutive one-way rounds, we get a good, back and forth affair. And, good stuff it is, as we once again see the contrast in styles played out. Nicole scoring well in open canvas, jabbing on the move, slowly beginning to put punches together as the round moves on. Margot dominant when she can cut and square, thump the brunette with solid one-twos that allow hard right hands to find the target. By the time the bell rings, there's not a whole lot in it as, for the first time since the first, both fighters have had some of what they want. But, it's Nicky who gets the points narrow, and goes back on the lead 48-47.

ROUND SIX:

Nicole moving as well as ever as this one starts. Scherzinger now fully recovered from the beatings of rounds three and four and looking as good as she did in that dominant second. Margot patient. Slowly working the feet. Wants to cut the ring and bring Nicole to battle, but not having a lot of success doing so. A minute in, a SCINTILLATING combination by Scherzinger lights up Robbie. Margot covers up. Nicole steps to for another flurry and gets ROCKED with a right hand counter! A beautiful keyhole right from Margot sends Scherzinger stumbling backward, and you can write the script from here. The blonde again brings the physical, battering a wobbly Nicole back into the ropes and having at her. And, the Scherzinger guts on full display, because, for the third time in the past four rounds, the Hawaiian beauty takes a beating, but, she DOES take it. She hangs on grimly as the Aussie works her over for nearly two full minutes. At the bell, she's still standing, and still in the fight, which is now even at 57.

ROUND SEVEN:

Robbie pressing her advantage on a shabby looking Nicole. Scherzinger's taken a load of punishment in this one and has to be reaching her limit, doesn't she? Margot wants to find out. Again, she's a little wild early, looking for one big shot that can finish things, but she settles down and begins walking Nicole down, backing her up with solid combination after solid combination. Scherzinger fighting back hard, but, without any legs underneath her, she can't slow Margot down. Instead, the blonde slowly takes canvas, slowly forces Nicole into the ropes, and then begins working her over with heavy punches with both hands. Nicole leaning back in the ropes in a high guard, putting the body on sale. Margot buying, working the dark beauty over, thumping the abs and ribs. Scherzinger groaning into her gloves, but keeping them high. RIGHT HAND, MARGOT! Robbie splits the gloves with a straight right and CUTS THE POWER TO NICOLE'S LEGS! Scherzinger slumps forward, falls past Margot's right shoulder and CRASHES face first to the canvas, where she remains long past the count of ten. It's OVER! And your winner by KO7 in brutal fashion is Margot Robbie!

AFTER:

Margot shows class. Checks on Nicole, who's being brought around in stages in the LCA corner, then comes back to the center of the ring to do the post-fight. "She's really fast, moves better than anyone I've ever been in with," Margot says with a nod. "You have to get physical with her, try to slow her down, or she's going to take you to school for ten rounds. Fortunately, I was able to bring my power to bear and hurt her a couple of times. After that, it was all about finishing, and I'm a GREAT finisher."
