Unified FCBA Bantamweight Title aka "The Battle of Los Angeles"
Minka Kelly, Ch (36-16-1, 32 KO) vs Troian Bellisario (15-12, 11 KO)
(Lioness Club of America vs Pretty Little Punchers, Inc.)
Results: Lookout! Boxing / Story: Vassago

Venue: Staples Center
Location: Figueroa Street, Downtown Los Angeles, CA

BEFORE: Troian Bellisario racked up six consecutive wins this season to earn herself the second bantamweight title opportunity of her career and if it wasn't for the well covered trade between Lookout! Boxing and Lioness Club of America she could have been staring at Paris Hilton's cheeky smile during the introductions once again. Because Minka Kelly shot to FCBA fame while being a member of the Hilton-owned stable yet became the last missing puzzle in LCA's set of championship rings when she knocked out 'The Tank' Danielle Fishel last month to finally reach the ultimate goal. One can argue that Kelly along with Mila Kunis and Laura Vandervoort remains one of the most overlooked elite fighters across all four divisions and some trigger happy pundits claimed she'll never win that elusive title especially when youngster Emily VanCamp stole the bantamweight thunder for much of 2014 keeping Minka at bay in the proccess.

But that was then and this is now, two brunettes fighting out of the city of Los Angeles (and no, it's not Anaheim) are looking to keep the entire West Coast very much alive in discussion just who owns the bragging rights in the Golden State. Minka's fresh off the Bantamweight Of The Year award pencilled by the always sceptic Boxing World Magazine crew but Troian argues she's the face of PLP franchise which just claimed Stable Of The Year honors on the very same list of honors. Allthough reporter Erin Andrews believes that Ashley Benson actually earns the biggest check among the Punchers the "Team Minka" banners are visible all over the Staples Center with Jack Nicholson, Kobe Bryant, Leonardo di Caprio and even Megan Fox sitting in the audience dominated. The Sack of Troi hashtag is back trending on twitter as well.

Minka Kelly wears a leopard print bikini top, black hotpants and golden gloves. Dark brown hair tied in a sleek curly ponytail. Troian Bellisario wears a navy blue bikini set with yellow trim and blue gloves. (Did she hang around NBA TV too much lately?) Dark brown hair tied in a bun at the back of her head. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Minka lets the challenger in for a mid distance route up the middle but there's just no way through the high guard and the counterpunching response actually catches the taller brunette on the nose and reels her back in a hurry. Troian's 30 yers old already so not exactly a bratty Disney type but Minka's the wiley veteran and it shows for remainder of the round as she dances hot on her toes while peppering Bellisario's guard with repeated single strikes that keep the girl honest. Troian prefers the mid distance approach anyway but the sheer ammount of Kelly's work load shuts her off completely and allows the champion to score an easy opening round success.

Round 2:
This is not Troian's championship debut so one could expect her upping the tempo before too long and when Minka gets stuffed in her overhand drill, Bellisario just whacks her across the ribs and works the feisty uppercut route thereafter bumping Minka's gloves aside and making impressive connection with her chin. Kelly wants to adjust her stance but gets belted on the navel and wobbles back on her left foot which in turn leaves Troian with an easy pick off combo on the cheeks that backs Minka into the ropes and reverts her into a clinching escape. Troian barges her way through the stalemate and scores another one-two over the top to secure the round and it's getting obvious she's here for some real battle.

Round 3:
Staples Center roars in delight as Minka blasts a left/right cross to smack Troian's nose and make her wince but a follow up hook misses the temple and enables the taller brunette to slip in for some jug muggin's that clearly upsets Kelly and wobbles her back just a little too far forward to respond immediately. And Bellisario jumps on the mid distance train pounding along upstairs and backing the champ into the ropes again, worryingly too easy for most fans' liking but there's a reason why the Pretty Little Punchers are so hot in demand right now and Bellisario shuts Kelly down in the final minute trapping her along the ropes and batting through the otherwise alleged bulletproof guard. Minka scowls in a mix of anger and pain as she gets whacked across the mouth and sinks on her knees but Troian stands tall and shakes her glove in delight at the bell.

Round 4:
The Troian train keeps rolling and beats the champion for a cross hooking approach which once again stuffs Minka's face into a couple of nasty lumps and allows the challenger to maintain the pressure with more mid distance strikes up the middle. Minka looks for a swift way out of here but she fails to dwarf the fellow brunette's footwork and dekes the wrong side meeting a harpoon strike on the liver area which sends her butt-in-ropes in no time. Troian clatters into her struggling foe and bumps the mounds for a quick ride before adding an uppercut flurry that burst Kelly's chin and leave her sagging on soft knees in the final minute one more time. Another cross hook finds the right eye on top of that and 'Team Minka' is just being roughed up here with Troi running away with her third round on the spin and feeling mighty good about it!

Round 5:
It's clear that Jack Nicholson expected something different tonight as he exchanges hectic gestures with di Caprio in the stands but the Minka supporters are still fully behind the recovery plan and the 35 year old veteran briefly halts the Troian rout in the fifth by clinching her straight off the bat and just forcing a stalemate on purpose. Troian doesn't let the emotions get to her and knows that's a sign of weakness and she accepts the dubious tactics still bumping into her rival's ribcage and actually showing more core strenght by wrestling her to the corner to see out more time off the clock. Minka's still out of ideas how to break the mid distance streamroll and Bellisario laughs out loud when she shrugs the champion against the turnbuckle and beats her for a right-on-right cross that nails Kelly on the brow ridge and results in immediate swelling. It's getting worse for the champion who gets stuffed in the corner and hangs on for deal life behind a high earmuff while Troian just pummels her from both sides and holds a commanding lead at half-distance.

Round 6:
Troian seeks out di Caprio in the stands and blows him a kiss but allthough Minka's performance is just as woeful as you can imagine she's still agile enough to throw a mean punch or two and for once she finds the speed neccessary to close the leggy opponent down and blasts a right/left combo on the temples to resume some respect in this fight. Troian lacks the precision in close range but fails to establish her preferred stance in time to cover up for Kelly ravaging her midriff and bumping on the heels in the proccess. Another right/left combo pierces her guard and tags the nose before a brutal uppercut finds the chin and sinks the challenger on jelly knees stumbling back to the ropes. Here comes 'Team Minka' blasting a left hook on the nose and leaving Bellisario gasping for air while the round concludes with a stubborn high earmuff to prevent a full blown rout yet Kelly settles into a vicious ribcage assault and makes the younger brunette scream out her loudest of the night right at the bell.

Round 7:
Troian's back in the stalking groove and throws plethora of punches upstairs but Minka's guard is back in tact and the counterpunching response tags Bellisario's chin with the left-handed stance now becoming a problem. Minka circles other way and looks like Troian gets caught up in overthinking her moves as she drops the right hand too low and gets slammed on the hurry up before Kelly literally jumps onto her but still finds a left cross that tears some skin under the eye. The challenger struggles in close range especially with Minka catching a second breath and thumping dangerous jabs in the liver area so dump Bellisario on her heels. A swift follow up on the chin chews up the guard and Troian bends the wrong way to find Minka slamming a left hook on the ear that wobbles the taller brunette forward with her eyes closed... a brutal hook nails her on the nose moments later and pulls the plug on her so Kelly can actually deliver one more strike on the brow ridge TO SEND BELLISARIO DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE... Staples Center errupts in joy but that was a shocking comeback from Minka who somehow buried the runaway leader under extreme pressure in this round and poor Troian made a couple of key errors on defence there... she's up at five but still a bit groggy and perhaps she should have waited a little more before getting up... Minka's looking sore herself but that cut underneath Troian's right eye doesn't look good at all and the proud challenger remians glued to the ropes allowing Kelly to blast more hooks upstairs and the PLP resilience might have finally been broken as Minka completes the rout and dumps a yelping Bellisario stumbling back to her corner at the bell.

Round 8:
Team Minka in victory mode in the stands already but Troian receives one last pep talk from Beth Harnois and lets it rip from the back foot as Kelly was closing in for the coup de grace. A last chance salloon effort from the younger brunette finds her bursting Minka's mouth into a bloody nightmare like Bridget Regan suddenly came entered the ring... AND MINKA'S HURT... one punch score drops her guard and has Troian wrenching her across the nose with a mammoth right hook, most likely the biggest punch she landed this year... AND MINKA JUST CRASHES DOWN ON HER BACK going all-timber in the proccess... the crowd goes nuts and if Minka's recovery was shocking than nobody can explain how she ended up on the boards after that one-two drive from the younger brunette... Troian aches out in pain and stumbles forward but has Kelly decked and.. oh, no... there's something wrong with Troian's right hand as she signals she's picked up some kind of injury... that powerful hook was probably too much to handle even for her own sake and what's worse the pandemonium caused by Troian almost bursting into tears delays the count and enables Kelly to escape at eight despite blood now seeping from her busted up nostrils... it hardly matters though as Bellisario's hand is kinda numb and she lays it against her thigh while signalling for some help... "THERE'S NO CRYING IN BOXING, BYTCH!!!", Minka wants to resume the fight as quickly as possible though and even Jack & Leo don't mind to see this continue... there's no medical time out and Kelly charges forward in all or nothing fashion and Bellisario just has to accept the crude fate... she can't do anything with her right hand though and even lowers it too much so Minka drives in with the left hook and finds the chin with ease before adding another one on the liver that sends Troian spinning back to the ropes with more spasms... she tries to deke away from a looming crackdown but loses her footing and Minka blasts a right cross on the temple before a left hook on the ear DROPS HER ONTO ALL FOURS... Minka licks her own blood from her lips and struts back while Troian is down on all fours and pounds the canvas in frustration as she fails to regain her balance and rolls onto her side to destroy any chances of a comeback... the battle was fought and lost.... KO8 and STILL your bantamweight champion Minka Kelly!!!

AFTER: Even Jack leads the 'Team Minka' applause now and Leonardo's smile looks like he perhaps bet some money on this one down in Vegas... Minka ends the fight bloodied up but still on top of the 120 lbs division. And she's game enough to console the unfortunate Troian who simply can't understand how she lost the fight long before the hand injury derailed her steamrolling train off the tracks... what a huge waste for the Lil' Punchers!!! Staples Center hasn't seen this much fun since Shaq & Kobe lead the Lakers into three-peat and it's a much needed confidence boost for the entire city struggling for success in professional sports... thankfully for Minka the days of her dating a NY Yankees shortstop are long gone so she owns the LA's trust again and well, this is a good bet for fight of the night with the lightweight straps still to be decided minutes away from now. Perhaps it's a shame the BWM awards were handed out already? And maybe this performance will be good enough to see Minka on the magazine cover in February?

Let's go down to Erin Andrews who has our winner: "Yeah, that was a tough one. I mean I knew it from the start and well, Troian will be back one day again. She's lost her second title fight in 15 months but hey, Avril Lavigne doesn't call the shots over there so she won't go down to flyweight all of the sudden now (laughs). But let's be serious, it seems like everyone's in my corner these days, I know The Grand Wizard still has that special 'Team Minka' T-shirt I send him the other day but he won't be hanging around his office wearing it since some of his girls are rather bad tempered. And special thanks to Mandy Moore of the Foxfire who actually allowed me to box with her over the weekend. I mean, I'm not the toughest girl around and Charlize, Amanda and Yvonne will always be ranked ahead of me in pound-for-pound rankings but I feel like I'm the most popular girl in this league and that deserves me a little extra attention. Like that Boxing World cover I still dream of! (laughs).

No official word on Troian's hand injury but early reports indicate a hairline fracture of the wrist. Couldn't have happened on a bigger stage than this and it's totally understandable the leggy brunette snubs Erin Andrews' interview request and heads straight to the hospital for evaluation. A huge case of "what might have been" for all the Pretty Little Punchers supporters. The icing on the Stable of the Year cake just never happened...

Final result: Minka Kelly def. Troian Bellisario KO8.
