NIGHT I

After sorting out the mess Stacey Dash left behind, setup quickly began for the second fight before the audience could grow too restless. During the shuffle, an interviewer managed to snag Fairuza Balk, who seemed happy to make a short statement. "I was just getting geared up to fight Drew, but I guess that was a mistake, since I just found out that the real main event is my non-existent match against Stacey. I don't know why she's so excited to fight me, but I wouldn't mind shutting her up with my fists. Once I take care of things tonight, anyway."

"I honestly think this is the fight for first place right here," commented Drew Barrymore when accosted by the press. "Neither of the two women in the first fight looked very good doing it. I wouldn't bet on either going all the way, which means it's down to me and my opponent. Fine with me!"

Barrymore, wearing yellow athletic wear, and Balk, in black, made their entrances separately and uneventfully, each taking a turn on McGowan's arm before the flamboyant referee locked the cage and the two women settled into their corners.

Round 1:
Possibly thanks to both fighters' long absence from the ring, neither woman was enthusiastic about engaging her foe. While Barrymore performed well enough, the pace and distance favored Balk, who outmaneuvered her rival periodically to score clean hits. Barrymore struck back inconsistently, but put up enough speed bumps to stay in the fight.

Round 2:
The second round turned into a drawn out test of skill as well, with Barrymore on careful offense. The blonde actress would move in to range, exchange blows, and regroup. While some volleys favored Barrymore and others favored Balk, Barrymore controlled the pace and pulled ahead on blows landed, if slowly.

Round 3:
The fighters spent the better part of the third round in the edge of each other's reach, looking for opportunities and waiting for the other to slip up. While neither made any fatal mistakes, Balk did fall short at a key moment and allow Barrymore time to strike freely. The blonde took full advantage of the opportunity, landing several head shots in close succession and leaving Balk puffy and woozy during the break.

Round 4:
Behind on points and having suffered at the close of the previous round, Balk took the pace up in an attempt to regain ground. She sent the blonde's head back when she connected with a strong right hand after a short battle, leaving Barrymore rattled but defiant. Further skirmishes left the blonde with a bruised tummy, looking nervous as she finally managed to fight Balk off. Barrymore managed to stand up to Balk at the finish, but limped back to her stool gladly at the Bell.

Round 5:
Balk was even more dominant in the fifth round, beating her blonde rival in the quick opening exchange and herding her backwards. Barrymore's attempts to escape went poorly, and after several, she walked into a right hook from Balk that left her stumbling, but upright. The brunette took full advantage, putting Barrymore's back on the ropes and letting her have it. Barrymore was strong minded enough to protect herself and resist, but during the break Balk's wide grin made it clear that she was in trouble.

Round 6:
In the sixth round, Balk moved to finish the weakened blonde off, only to be caught on the chin by Barrymore's last ditch effort to stay in the fight. Barrymore did that and more, stunning the confident Balk, and shutting her down with a solid punch to follow up. Balk never fully recovered in the sixth round, as Barrymore continued to pummel her and avoid her increasingly desperate swings. Barrymore avoided overextending, and merely fought to keep Balk under control, which she did very well. However, the round did seem to wear down the brunette substantially.

Round 7:
An energetic Barrymore faced off against a sluggish, bruised Balk in the seventh round. Again, Barrymore methodically took her rival apart over the course of the round as Balk unsuccessfully tried to slow her descent. Unfortunately for Balk, the damage was done, and as the seconds ticked past she put up less resistance. Before long, Barrymore let loose, battering the dazed Balk and leaving her to collapse face down in the middle of the ring.

McGowan quickly bounced over to Barrymore's side, clinging to her and raising the triumphant blonde's fist before slowly rotating and showing her off to all sections of the crowd. Barrymore, in only slightly better shape than her defeated opponent, showed a wide, relieved smile as she leaned on McGowan for support. When Balk rose to a crouch, Barrymore pounced, but rather than tormenting the loser further, she shooed her out of the cage as quickly as possible, kicking her down the steps. Balk's entourage immediately surrounded her and dragged her to the safety of backstage. Barrymore was left to celebrate her KO7 victory with McGowan in the spotlight.

"She didn't want to quit, so I made her!" exclaimed a gleeful, cleaned up Barrymore shortly after. Given a short rest, she looked presentable, but it was still obvious that Balk had gotten some real hits in. "See you on night two, Stacey!"
