With the danger of facing Barrymore in the finale looming over both fighters, the second fight was quickly shaping up to be the most hotly contested battle for third place of all time. "I don't know if Drew is so amazing that she can beat me without even trying, but having faced her recently... I think I'd rather play it safe and punch Callie out," commented Fairuza Balk during the break. Her opponent had similar thoughts. "I don't think even the most optimistic person thought I was going to win three straight here," explained Thorne. "But I had the bad luck to debut against the first prize winner, and I still have her a fight. I'll do much better at this level of competition." Thorne's answer failed to mention what might happen if she failed here as well.

Two nervous fighters covering themselves in fierce, determined looks made their entrances, to be introduced and paraded by Rose McGowan in the ring. Thorne, in white, seemed uncomfortable to walk arm in arm with the woman who had happily celebrated her savage beating on the previous night. Balk, in black -- Punchaholics management had insisted that the fighters pick a color and stick with it for the duration, citing branding -- was more at home.

Round 1:
Both actresses attacked furiously in the opening. In the chaos, Balk gained the upper hand, clipping the side of Thorne's head and then slamming her left fist into her rival's nose to interrupt her response. Thorne, behind on momentum but still just as ferocious, scowled and pushed her opponent back. While the advantage swung back and forth, the story remained the same; Balk could gain an advantage, but not keep it.

Round 2:
Seeing her chances at survival circling the drain, Throne threw herself at Balk in the second round, holding nothing back. The new Thorne proves to be too much for Balk, getting in to strike at her ribs early on. However, Balk held out, forcing Thorne to fight at a distance for much of the round and safely drawing things out. The score showed a victory for Thorne, but a painful one, having thrown everything she had at Balk without making much of a dent.

Round 3:
Thorne, already showing signs of wear, fought to slow Balk down in the third round, with mixed results. Early on, she managed to hold her opponent off without suffering too badly, but as the round progressed, Balk landes more hits unanswered. By the end, Balk had turned Thorne into a punching bag; only a monumental effort drove her off and allowed Thorne to survive the final seconds.

Round 4:
Thorne returned to the fight needing a miracle, and did not receive one. Within moments Balk had taken control, striking freely at her rival. Now, with more time, Thorne's attempts to stall were doomed. Halfway through the round, Balk's fist crashed into Thorne's chin, stunning the already worn out fighter. She slowly collapsed into her back, staring at the ceiling blankly, making no attempt to move. Even though Balk had been in full control, the sudden end to the fight surprised her. She grinned and let out a brief laugh, a look of sympathy on her face for a moment as she watched her unconscious foe. The victorious actress strutted over to her victim and placed a foot on her chest, throwing her arms up with a relieved sigh. McGowan, having already seen enough to declare Balk's KO4 win, rushed to Balk's side to wrap an arm around her waist.

Balk, still smiling at her good fortune to avoid the finale, addressed the press before Thorne could even come to her senses, still assisted by her entourage in the cage, and working on being upright, so far unsuccessfully. "Overall, I'm happy," states Balk. "Really, I think I just needed that wakeup call from Drew to get myself together. After getting ready for another fight like that, well... obviously I overprepared. I'm just looking forward to a well earned break... and watching Callie get destroyed from a safe distance/
