NIGHT 3

The third night featured only one fight, but was well attended nevertheless. Barrymore had been happy to speak of the event during the days leading up to the fight, promising complete dominance whether anyone asked or not. Thorne had gone silent in the meantime, her agent making a prepared statement only addressing her preparation for the match when pressed.

Thorne, in her now recognizable white trunks and bra, made her entrance first, to be greeted by McGowan and shown to all four sides of the arena, despite the growing number of times that McGowan had gladly fawned over her conquerors. The underdog was serious and fearless, despite the odds. Barrymore, as she made her entrance in yellow, was quite the opposite, laughing and waving to the crowd as if she were preparing for a light interview instead of a fight. This display brought out the first signs of nervousness in Thorne, who quickly frowned and stretched. McGowan reiterated the stakes for the crowd -- Thorne, as the holder of last place, would be banned from future Punchfest '15 events if knocked out.

The two women touched gloves, and Barrymore said something inaudible with a mocking smile on her face. Thorne backed away slightly, then prepared to fight.

Round 1:
Once again, Thorne gave it her all early on. Barrymore weathered the first salvos, throwing out brief counter attacks to keep Thorne on edge. However, the underdog did achieve some success late in the round, striking Barrymore on the cheek firmly and prompting a more vigorous response. It was enough to put Thorne on the defense. Further skirmishes favored Barrymore, and at the end of the round the blonde hovered a gloved hand over her mouth in a mock yawn.

Round 2:
Barrymore dominated the second round from start to finish. Thorne's main accomplishment was staying on her feet after her rival put her on the ropes and pummeled her near the mid point. As it became clear that Thorne would survive to the third round, Barrymore slowed down, but still consistently caught Thorne with her jab as the brunette floundered.

Round 3:
With two terrible rounds behind her, Thorne's efforts to survive the round became efforts to survive the next few seconds. Even here she fell short; Barrymore broke through her defenses early on and pounded the helpless brunette's face. Here, the blonde showed some minimal mercy; despite being locked in the cage, she sent Thorne to the canvas quickly with a strong right hook. Thorne fell unconscious in mid fall, landing face down at the blonde's feet. However, awake at the count of two, she struggled to her hands and knees. Tears in her eyes, even with the extra motivation of the ban hanging over her, she could make no further progress. Her final, brave effort caused her arms to give out under her, leaving her sobbing on the canvas until the count of ten -- KO3 Barrymore.

McGowan hugged the victorious blonde tightly after announcing the result, but did not prevent her from breaking away soon after. Barrymore circled around Thorne, who had rolled onto her back, groaning. Amused, Barrymore stood astride her victim for a moment, before dropping down to sit on her chest, to raucous cheering from all directions. Thorne had just enough time to look up in terror and gibber a protest before one punch from the blonde bounced the back of her head against the canvas and left her peacefully asleep on her back, mouth open.

The night wound down with minimal mishaps. Thorne, not unsurprisingly, vanished completely after her thorough defeat. As for Barrymore, when she emerged, she had an answer for her critics. "Was it a coronation? Of course! But I earned a coronation. Ask Fairuza and Stacey if you don't believe me."
