"THE ONLY WAY IS BBU" PPV

(from Brentwood, Essex)

(Foxfire Atlantic Boxing vs Lioness Club trialist)

BEFORE: The big news coming out of Brentwood before the Essex PPV is the Lioness Club's decision to sign former Miss Netherlands Yasmine Verheijen into a trial contract that immediately raises questions about Zoe Salmon's future with the North London based organization. BBU TV's Denise van Outen thinks that the Ulster blonde can be cut from the roster this very night if she fails to beat Sarah Jayne Dunn but Verheijen needs to perform well against a tricky opponent herself because there's no point in replacing a punchbag with another punchbag no matter how attractive they are!

Van Outen tries to get a confirmation from the Lioness front office that Verheijen was a late replacement for Monika Pietrasinska who was allegedly lured out of Barnet by Girls Friday's superior salary and the promise of being the stable's go-to-girl at lightweight, something that Christine Bleakley wasn't ready to concede in North London. More on that story as it develops.

With all the focus on the Lioness crew Laury Thilleman would perhaps use a low-key entrance to the ring, the former Miss France still can't quite overcome the Malika Menard's shadow at the Foxfire Atantic and now she has to learn all the news about another pageant trophy girl arriving in BBU. The 28 year old blonde stopped Micaela Schaefer in her lone bout last year but needs more action to stay in the mix and has already booked a fight with another newcomer Jessica Michibata next month.

Laury Thilleman wears a pink & blue floral schemed bikini and silver gloves. Long blonde hair straight. Yasmin Verheijen wears a pink bikini and black gloves. Long black hair in loose waves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Quick start from the blonde shuts out the Dutch newcomer in the center of the ring and Laury can thump some nasty punches to dominate the opening exchange and get the Brentwood crowd into a fiery mood already. Yasmin's head snaps back repeatedly in the early going and she bellows out behind a deep earmuff unable to tame the French onslaught. On the other hand the blonde works furiously to pound her cumbersome opponent back to the ropes but allthough she hooks a couple of harpoons against the ribcage she can't quite bump Verheijen off and gets clinched in the final minute as the rookie jumps into a desperate effort to survive the opening round of her BBU endeavour.

Round 2:
More aggression from Thilleman who loops a hooking approach into the brunette's temples and bends her to the side before driving an uppercut combo up the middle to dump her on the heels. A scything hook finds the mouth moments later and the Dutch girl scowls in pain but soaks up more punishment on the fly with Laury thuming her upstairs and reeling back to the ropes. Another high earmuff protects Yasmin's face well but Thilleman ravages her midsection instead and pummels butt-in-ropes almost sending the girl out of the ring with a furious leather rush that even leaves Denise van Outen cheering in the booth. Verheijen slumps on soft knees at the bell and right now she's doing no better than Zoe Salmon did in her four plus years with the Lioness stable.

Round 3:
Thilleman probably can't believe her luck now and she jumps into another head hunting display but the Dutch girl's retreat enables her to bide some time and leave the blonde punching thin air for most of the round. Here's why Laury isn't threatening Malika Menard's stock anytime soon, she basically lets the brunette off the hook searching for a breaking news KO instead of punishing the body further. Verheijen's low guard was suspect at best in the opening two rounds but she earns herself a nice respite with the French girl settling into a wayward aerial attack until the bitter end. Where's the Foxfire coach when you need her?

Round 4:
An angry looking Laury storms from her stool to resume the body stalking but Yasmin knows she has a contract in North London waiting for her and suddenly beats the otherwise impressive blonde for a left cross on the mouth and blasts her on the jaw with a quick follow up. Thilleman's close range plans are shattered on the spot as she wobbles on her heels with a loud yelp and doesn't have the time to brace for a flurry of jab crashing into her face moments later. Verheijen rallies up the middle to punish the fellow pageant's cheeks lumping her up in the proccess but the biggest damage is done when she rips a left hook on the temple and spins Thilleman against the turnbuckle with eyes closed. Blonde's footwork was never her strong suit and she remains trapped in the corner with Yasmine piercing her ribcage and showing how it's done downstairs very much against the odds.

Round 5:
Laury seeks redemption after that previous round mishap but she struggles to match the brunette's uptempo switch and gets whacked across the mouth again allowing Yasmin to thump more leather on the follow up... sge bravely tries to hang on in the center of the ring and responds over the top only to find thin air and eat a belting hook on the liver area that bends her forward and bumps her chin against the brunette's shoulder... Laury yelps in pain and takes a couple of steps back but she's too slow on her feet and gets creamed across the mouth again and doesn't even notice a brutal right hook on the temple THAT JACK-KNIVES HER TO THE CANVAS moments later... The Brentwood crowd errupts in joy as they get to see a proud French blonde hammered down on her knees and Laury takes her time in getting up. She beats the count at eight but suddenly she has a mouthful of Verheijen's punches and bellows out on the ropes in the final minute with the Dutch rookie blasting her ribcage apart and leaving all banged up at the bell after a terrible round.

Round 6:
Laury looks a bit spooked now after that epic beating she suffered in the fifth and somewhere out there Jessica Michibata must be smiling too! And Yasmin simply doesn't have enough of this comeback run as she thumps more leather upstairs to give the French pageant swollen lips and barges her butt-in-ropes with a hectic power display. Thilleman caves in behind a turtle-like defence but the brunette lacks the precision and focus to finish her off just yet, that's the price you pay in your maiden BBU fight however Denise van Outen switches her cheering game and openly supports the Dutch girl now telling the viewers that Yasmin might be the one who deposes Christine Bleakley from Lioness lightweght throne since Karolina Kurkova is busy over in America these days and Zoe Salmon... well, is simply Zoe Salmon! Back to the ring... Yasmin shatters the blonde's high guard late in the going but runs out of time to complete the demo job even though Laury has trouble walking back to her stool in a straight line with her lips bleeding badly after she suffered another epic disaster in the sixth.

Round 7:
Thilleman doesn't have much to give anymore and emerges from her corner only to have the gloves shoved right into her face sending her shimmy shake seconds into the seventh... it's too easy even for a rookie like Verheijen who blasts a left cross on the nose before ending the French nightmare with a right uppercut on the chin... Laury's knees simply give way and she slides on her knees trying to grab the brunette's torso on her way down... but of course she fails to do that and Yasmin puts both gloves to her mouth and waits in anticipation of a massive comeback triumph... sure enough, Laury remains face down and the ref calls it off when she doesn't even flinch at six... KO7 Yasmin Verheijen!!!

AFTER: Nobody in Essex saw this result coming after the opening two rounds when the Dutch pageant barely landed a punch and looked outclassed in all areas by her more experienced opponent. However Laury fumbled the looming victory in a terrible manner and is destined to remain Malika Menard's sidekick for months if not years to come. But her demise will certainly make the likes of Jessica Michibata happy and who knows, perhaps the embattled Zoe Salmon will challenger her into a fight now that she's poised to share the Barnet gym with Yasmin in the upcoming weeks.

Lioness Club's press office manager Kate Garraway joins the Dutch pageant in the ring and officially announces the trial contract to the crowd and it almost feels like we're in the KO Club up in Barnet now however Essex isn't a popular hosting venue compared to London, Manchester or Liverpool and they cherish any sort of BBU action even if they can't pronounce the fighting girls' names right! But Kate Garraway tells everyone to watch out for the latest Dutch missile in the league - everyone should know Doutzen Kroes and Sylvie Meis by now - and no Lioness faithful seems to dwell on the missed Monika Pietrasinska signing already.

Final result: Yasmin Verheijen def. Laury Thilleman KO7.
