"Michelle Borth isn't exactly an important stop on the road to the title, but I still like her as an opponent," said Nicki Minaj regarding her decision to take the fight. "So far I've had too much of a type when it comes to my opponents -- style, measurements, career outside of the ring. Michelle North isn't my type at all, and I look forward to branching out with this fight."

Michelle Borth seemed mildly upset about Minaj's questioning her relevance. "Nicki has done well for herself lately," she commented in a later interview. "Seems pretty easy to end up face down on the mat if you mess with her! But she has her weaknesses and I'm definitely good enough to exploit them."

North and Minaj faced off confidently. Borth, in teal trunks and sports bra, made the most of her height advantage at the glove touch, while Minaj, in purple, practiced her poker face.

Round 1:
Borth, with a substantial reach advantage, did her best to keep Minaj at a distance, while Minaj attempted to break through and fight up close. It quickly became obvious that Borth could have her way at will in this contest, putting up a brick wall and allowing Minaj to bravely run into it face first. Minaj looked somewhat dazed during the break, and though she shook it off before the next round began, she was in obvious need of a change in tactics.

Round 2:
While Minaj's problems continued into the second round, this time she managed to stall successfully if nothing else, avoiding head on collisions and striking back briefly but forcefully enough to make Borth think twice before attacking. However, the change was only enough to turn the rapper's freefall into a slow descent. Borth was still able to chase her about and pull ahead, but with more difficulty and pain along the way.

Round 3:
In the third round, Minaj broke through, advancing on Borth unscathed despite her best efforts. The rapper happily took revenge on the taller woman, thumping her several times with enough force to shake her body. Then, predictably, Borth escaped and got back to her tried and tested tactic of playing keep away. Minaj would not remain kept, however, and earned herself a close victory through a combination of adaptation and pure stubbornness.

Round 4:
Minaj charged Borth confidently in the fourth round, only to bounce off painfully. Once again, the taller brunette had Minaj figured out, and kept her at a distance, forcing her to choose between walking onto punches or backing down. Minaj got the painful message and cut her losses, settling for a very bad round where she remained standing at the end.

Round 5:
Looking to build on her substantial lead, Borth went on the attack early, pushing Minaj hard after a one sided start. Minaj held back in the opening, avoiding catastrophe, then fought back when Borth overextended. Dodging and striking in one motion, the rapper struck Borth in the stomach, nearly doubling the taller woman over. Things got worse for Borth as she struggled to fight Minaj off. Having tasted success, Minaj stuck to Borth relentlessly, pummeling the taller woman no matter what she did. Borth had several close calls, but stumbled back to her corner on her feet at the bell.

Round 6:
Borth did not have much left at the start of the sixth round. In her weakened state, her usual attempts to play keep away barely slowed Minaj down. The rapper made short work of Borth's resistance. When Borth made her final push, Minaj interrupted her with a sudden left hook, leaving her limbs wobbling uncontrollably. Head rolling to the side, Borth collapsed backwards, not rising until after the ten count. Minaj had earned the KO6 unquestionably despite a bad start.

Minaj interrupted her celebrations to check on Borth once she came to, the two women exchanging hugs before making separate exits. However, the victorious fighter was not shy about taking credit for the win in the days that followed. "I knew I had a knockout in me against Michelle, no matter how hard she made me work for it. I had to suffer for that win, but it was worth it!"
