Anna Silk (IFFI) v Elizabeth Gillies (Beevers Babes USA)

Veteran Anna, at 41, remains a good fighter, and the general opinion is that she will have too much for the 22 year old Lizzie, although the cocky youngster is confident that she can get back to winning ways tonight after losing to Troian and Shay in her last two fights.

Lizzie enters the ring first, and she’s wearing a red bikini tonight with matching gloves and boots, looking good and pouting as she’s joined by Anna, the older girl wearing a black one-piece outfit with black gloves and white boots, and she stares at Lizzie, looking more than ready to give the kid a smacking.

Round 1

The girls touch gloves, which is nice, but Liz soon gets stuck into action, finding Anna with a pair of sharp jabs to her face, and following up with a left hook to the ribs, Anna grunting and standing off. She picks Liz off nicely when the kid gets in close again, her gloves bouncing off the youngster’s face, but Liz shows her ability, gives Anna a couple to the body, and rocks her with a right hook, sending the veteran towards the ropes, Anna covering well as Liz arrives in front of her, not taking too much punishment, although Liz is throwing plenty of leather towards her.

Round 2

Anna seems a little slow this evening, and Liz is sensing that, upping her tempo in the opening seconds, rapping good punches onto the older girl’s face, and her punches are sharp enough to be causing a little lump to appear on Anna’s right cheekbone, but she’s drawing the kid in closer, and hitting her to the body, intent on teaching her a lesson, Liz getting used up mid round, but she fights back well, and starts to find Anna’s face with that jab again, the older girl backpedalling, but she gets tagged again, her body twisting to the side as she gets clear, desperate not to get trapped on the ropes.

Round 3

Liz lands the opening punch of the round, a sweet left jab, but she miscues with her follow up right hook, landing on top of Anna’s head, and that has her yelping, her arm jarred by that, the older girl taking advantage fighting back hard, giving Lizzie’s face a pair of hard punches, and following with a deep hook to her midriff, roughs her up a little at close quarters, and bangs her backwards, Lizzie on the ropes now, with Anna hitting her to the face with her right jab, Lizzie’s skin turning pinker by the second, and she’s been knocked around in this round.

Round 4

Anna opens up immediately, giving Lizzie a series of left jabs, keeping her heavy shots under wraps just now as she concentrates on dishing out a boxing lesson, Liz fighting back though, standing her ground and slugging it out with the veteran, who catches her with a right hook at last, Liz struggling and suffering after that, backing into the ropes, Anna in there again, lifting Lizzie’s head up with a couple of short uppercuts, but the kid does well to block a right hook, then punches her way out of trouble, shocking Anna, who’s shaking her head and moving towards the youngster again at the bell, glaring at her, and promising, “I’ll finish you next round!”

Round 5

Anna looks determined to carry out her threat, and she’s pushing and prodding Lizzie backwards, the kid fighting back with some reasonable defensive punches, but Anna’s inside her longer reach and getting home with punches thrown from hip height, Lizzie leaking blood from her mouth as the leather gloves do their work on her face, the girl backing into the ropes again, Anna finding a right cross to smash Lizzie’s head backwards, the kid in big trouble, her guard intact though, but now Anna rips her to the body, her punches crashing into the girls bare midsection, and she looks pretty tired at the bell, both girls slick with sweat, Lizzie bleeding from her lips and her nose now, breathing hard.

Round 6

Anna’s really in the groove now, showing her class, and giving Lizzie Gillies some heavy punishment, again lifting her head up and out of her stooping defence with an uppercut, Anna’s left jab working on that pretty young face, blood again dribbling from sore nostrils, and Anna hurts Lizzie to the body with a solid, straight right, Lizzie clinging on here now, getting beaten up in this round, with Anna bullying the youngster into a neutral corner, and she’s winding up that right hook, ready to finish the job she’s started – but she’s too slow, and Lizzie hits her first, Anna disorganised now, totally unprepared for that, and Lizzie clubs her to the jaw with a cracking right hook, and Anna Silk is down! A punch from nowhere has flattened the former champion, who gets to her feet gingerly at 8, her eyes not quite focussed yet, as Lizzie takes control, rips her head side to side as she presses her to the ropes, the round and the fight turning in that instant.

Round 7

Lizzie seems to have found some new strength, which is more than can be said for Anna, who’s struggling now, hoping she can defend herself, but Lizzie has her hurting some more as she gives her a sweet one-two, Anna unsteady again as Lizzie fires her backwards, gives her a left hook, and a right cross, the former champion almost down there, eats two more left jabs, and a right hook, and now she is down! For a second time Anna Silk finds herself on the canvas, a look of pain across her swollen face as she starts to get to her feet, only to topple over and get counted out, facedown.

Result: Elizabeth Gillies knocked out Anna Silk in round 7.

Anna really did contribute to her own downfall in that fight, getting to the point where she should have knocked Lizzie out, then ended up on the floor, and her seconds seems concerned about her jaw, which is swelling rather nastily, and we’ll find out later whether Lizzie’s broken it for her.
