BBU "HOLLYOAKS SPECIAL" ROUND ROBIN - WEEK 2

(Lookout! Atlantic Boxing vs Foxfire Atlantic Boxing)

BEFORE: Jennifer Metcalfe still believes she's the outright Hollyoaks Special favorite and vows to beat Jodi Albert up tonight to follow suit on her Week 1 triumph over Ali Bastian but the Foxfire Atlantic brunette showed no signs of rustiness in her comeback vs Claire Cooper last month and this fight could go all the way to the wire according to Denise van Outen.

Jennifer Metcalfe wears a black bikini set and red gloves. Dark brown hair in loose waves. Jodi Albert wears a red basque top with black trim and black gloves. Long brown hair straight. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Jodi gets the jump on the fellow brunette and wipes the smile off Jennifer's face with a quick cross hooking route that reels the Lookout! Atlantic protegee on her heels and allows Albert to score plenty of juice on the rack before an uppercut switch finds the jaw and sends Metcalfe into a hectic earmuff. Jodi settles into piercing the ribcage thereafter and enforces the brawling script barging her way to further success and pushing Jennifer onto the ropes in the second minute. Metcalfe begins to groan in displeasure over lack of production but she fails to shake the fellow brunette off and eats a late series on the breadbasket that makes Albert gurgle in delight at the bell as both women throw each other a ruthless death stare and this early flick was just a warm-up according to Denise van Outen.

Round 2:
Jennifer tries to take Jodi's head off with a hectic hooking approach but fails to match her rival's agility across the canvas and drops into a counterpunching drill thereafter that smacks her head around and allows Albert to maintain the upper-hand into the second minute. Head hunting pursuit leaves both women aching in their efforts but Jodi keeps scoring the more effective punches yet Metcalfe manages to stay afloat in the center of the ring before blasting the Foxfire brunette with a cross hooking combo herself and sink her with a late gut-checking drive afterwards.

Round 3:
Another close range tangle snaps Metcalfe's head back but she slips into pummelling Albert's guts and both women show plenty of mean intentions which only makes the crowd applaud their efforts. Jodi tries to mug some cleavage but gets spun around as Jennifer wraps her up into a wrestling struggle briefly before beating her for a right-on-right punch that cleans out the nose and dumps Albert on her heels. A heavy uppercut drive dissects the chest guard and has the Lookout girl working some jug that finally sends Jodi into retreat but she remains on top of the duck & weave game to stay clear of any further damage as Metcalfe tries to hassle her down but just isn't fast enough to make it happen.

Round 4:
The fight stalls in the center of the ring with both women wrestling each other for a while before Metcalfe bumps her foe off and pierces her high guard with a quick hook. Jodi ducks low and rips into the body which makes Jennifer pound her kidneys to gain a separation but also a referee's warning in the proccess. Action resumes along the ropes and Albert cracks a wild overhand on the eye to half-spin Metcalfe to the turnbuckle where she shuts her off with more gut-checking jabs and the Lookout brunette only reverts into a blatant clinch because she realizes that her left eye begins to swell rather quickly here.

Round 5:
Still nothing to choose between these two and it's a genuine surprise given Jodi's lenghty absence before her Cooper KO success last month. Deep inside her Jennifer thinks she should be in frame for a lineal BBU title bout but she simply has to beat Albert tonight to even maintain her chances of winning the Hollyoaks Special. However Jodi's brawling tactics force her into more rabbit shots on the kidneys and an official warning to boot. Another move like that and she will be deducted a point and what's worse, Albert takes full advantage of the start-stop affair by blasting the fellow brunette on the boobs to bend her into a quick uppercut on the jaw that makes Metcalfe yelp in pain in the closing seconds. Thankfully for the Lookout crew the clock expires soon afterwards and Jennifer actually avoided suffering more damage around the swollen left eye.

Rounds 6 & 7:
More back & forth action in the Wembley Arena but both girls realize this one is far from being decided and they simply need to recharge their batteries for a final push. Denise van Outen indicates to Tom Hilton she predicted this one being too close to call even before the first punch was thrown and the new panel expert thinks it speaks more of Jodi's preparation upon her BBU comeback rather than Jennifer's quest to beat Gemma Bissix for the overall betting favorite spot. However the fact Albert fails to make the most of Metcalfe's swollen eye signalls there's still room to spare in calling Jodi a dark horse either... Finally the Foxfire girl shows more poise in stacking up her efforts upstairs as she clubs Metcalfe back to the turnbuckle late in the seventh before crunching a low hook right below the waist line to make Jennifer scowl in anger... the ref has seen nothing wrong with that but guess the dire period is over now as Metcalfe can't stop bytching into the ref's ear during the interval even though she's one foul away from having a point deducted herself!

Round 8:
And Metcalfe storms out of her stool to finally beat Albert for a quick hook and set up a following drive on the breadbasket. However she intentionally drops one shot into the fellow brunette's crotch after wrestling her straight into the referee's path so he can't quite move fast enough to notice the obvious foul. Jodi screams out in pain and makes a cardinal mistake of trying to call the man in charge out, she takes her eyes off her foe for a split second and gets WRENCHED by a brutal hook on the brow ridge that whips her on the heels with eyes closed before Metcalfe adds an uppercut on the jugs TO SEND JODI CRASHING DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE moments later... "Looks like we finally have a breakthrough, Denise!", Tom is visibly animated in the BBU TV booth but Albert gets a much needed respite as the ref has to drag the Lookout brunette back to the neutral corner first... Jennifer thinks there's no way back for Jodi but she's wrong and the Foxfire faithful beats the count at eight allthough looking quite soft in the eyes now... however she manages to find her quick feet again and avoid a late leather rush that Metcalfe hoped to send her out of this fight with and both women bump into each other at the bell refusing to back off until the referee enforces his strict presence and shoves them away to respective corners.

Round 9:
Jodi finally clubs Jennifer's swollen eye again and that was long time coming, dear! She bends the fellow brunette to an awkward stance and rips uppercuts into the exposed jugs stalling Metcalfe's home run scenario. We're back to a close range brawl that Jodi somehow seems more comfortable with tonight and she peppers the ribcage to prevent her opponent from cashing in on that knockdown however she basically needs to win both the remaining rounds now to have a chance of winning on the scorecards according to Tom Hilton. And Metcalfe shows all her experience under the Lookout banner as she wraps herself around Albert's waist and keeps spiking her on the ribcage but avoids throwing another shot on the kidneys or sticking her knee into the crotch to secure more unfair punishment. Jodi shoves her into the turnbuckle to maintain the tight upper-hand in the closing seconds but lacks real strenght behind her punches at this stage and looks clearly annoyed at the bell while Jennifer whispers to herself: "Just one more, baby! One more..."

Round 10:
Metcalfe's swollen eye is under heavy onslaught in the opening minute but the Foxfire brunette finally gasses out in a hectic pursuit and her feet are unable to follow the mind from the minute mark whereas Jennifer dances her way around the aerial attack before sticking more jabs into the rack and just shutting the fellow brunette down. The lenghty spell on the sidelines has caught up with Jodi just when it matters the most and allthough she handed Metcalfe that nasty swelling on the eye, she's just running on empty here and gets picked off repeatedly with Jennifer celebrating early... she bends Albert into a scowling dismay late in the going when she pierces her breadbasket but fails to secure the knockout success as Jodi blasts her with one desperate hook on the wounded eye right at the death and actually almost makes Jennifer go down on her knees but that's all too little to late now and Metcalfe secures the last meaningful punch of the contest by blasting a left cross on the mouth that slumps the aching and clearly tired Albert on her knees right at the final bell. It's all over but we're going to the scorecards like Denise van Outen predicted. Comes back UD10 Jennifer Metcalfe!!!

AFTER: Jodi is so tired she doesn't even have the strenght to argue the decision and just stares down at the canvas while Jennifer's arm is raised in the air. Denise van Outen thinks the Foxfire girl wasted a golden opportunity to win this fight when she simply didn't push hard enough to explore Metcalfe's eye injury and fell short of her opponent's durability in the closing stages of the contest. Still, she showed plenty of skill to warrant her place as a true sleeper among the Hollyoaks Special combatants and perhaps the key to winning the whole event is indeed beating Jodi Albert more than anything else. Jennifer Metcalfe survived the big test and can only hope for Jodi to derail the Gemma Bissix train down the stretch but she'll in fact get the first taste of the betting favorite when she faces the Beevers' blonde next month!

Final result: Jennifer Metcalfe def. Jodi Albert UD10.
