Before: Rival flyweights attending this fight in droves - speculation is Garth won't defend fly belts if she wins them, fracturing the 'House that Mish Built" and creating a classic feeding frenzy at 110. Jennie bewildered by Williams persistent pursuit, torn between the struggle to make weight and the opportunity to beat one of boxing's Tiffany names. "110 has been difficult," admits Jenny, "but this is too big an opportunity for me to ignore. I don't know what Mish's beef with me is, but I'm a big, strong, skilled bantamweight. She's been listening to too many yes men and believing too many press clippings if she thinks she can step up against me." Mish coy about her motives for facing a girl who's last fight was at 120 - fueling rumours about reported deals to face Tiffany Amber Thiessen, Spears, Dushku, even Dani Fishel herself. Jenny in black sports bra, red and black plaid wrestling fit trunks, Mish in black push up, black velvet boy cut trunks.

During R1,2: Mish takes the first, Jen the second as girls elect to stand inside and scrub it up. Close, competitive rounds, lots of punching. Mish learning about Garth's strength, finding it hard to back Jennie up or body her around. Garth troubled by Michelle's high work rate and stubborn ferocity - Jennie often forced to counter off the block as she covers up under pressure.

R3: Jennie blinks first, takes it outside. Williams stalking - end of first minute she trades a firm hook to tummy for a tepid jab from Jennie - Mish cleaning up with the whalloping overhand right and GARTH GOES DOWN! Jennie up, stunned to have been decked by a flyweight - Mish blowing cheeky kisses from the neutral corner. All Williams the rest of the way, reaching in under Jen's arms to muscle her to the ropes, holding and hitting to the bell.

R4: Competitive round - Garth bring her jab back better, giving ground in good order, potshotting Mish as she storms forward. Williams showing that improved head movement, weaving side to side, influencing her foe to ropes, then getting off shocking to both flanks. Garth rolling with punches, clinching for breaks - Mish seems the aggressor.

R5: Smaller girl coming forward, hurling meanspirited overhand rights, tidying up busy left hooks underneath. Bigger girl boxing, looking to create distance, place her shots. Midway through, Mish reaching in to get close, Jennie with a darting right hand counter from the shoulder and WILLIAMS GOES DOWN! Mish up grinning, nodding in acknowledgement, then going right back at her girl, bent at the waist, head forward, hands low.

R6,7: Williams forcing the fight, outworking Jennie. Garth keeping her back off the ropes, jabbing as she circles, landing the occasional clean counter right hand down the pike. Hard to score rounds, but irrepressible Mish just more active, throwing twice as many punches despite landing about the same - there'd be no fight without her. Judges reward the come-forward girl: different judges might have gone for Jennie's class.

R8: Jennie boxing efficiently, but gets lazy along the ropes, slipping punches with ease, making Mish look amaturish - Garth gets complacent. Williams winging and reloading - hard right hand on the ear shakes Jennie up at the minute mark, sends her skittering to her right in shock. Garth hits the corner in a fog - Mish unleashes with time on the clock. Brawny beat down - Williams palming the bigger girl's shoulder back, then wailing away, helping herself to belly breasts and chin as Garth wilts. Jennie numb, arms crossed, shipping hard, clean blows, sagging into the ropes to absorb it - crowd roaring in approval at the sustained drubbing. Final moments, Garth's legs give way - she swoons to all fours, mouth open, belly heaving - Mish won't step back as the ref takes a hand.

R9: The pride of Jennie Garth. All busted up, throbbing in the body - she grimly gets into rhythm, shuffling flat footed to her left, showing Mish the jab, potshotting her the right, getting out dodge. Williams plowing forward, but getting turned midring - Mish impatient, looking for one big shot and Garth pecks and pokes for points this round.

R10: Mish charges the ring, tackles Garth into her corner, comes up scrubbing gut as Jennie goes ragdoll. Williams slugging, then pushing to get free of Garth's woozy clinching - just a job of work to get free and resume the awful bombardment. Garth holding, trying to smother the beating. Down the stretch, Jennie smooth as she pulls Mish' head down, clips her the hook, jerks the right uppercut inside Williams' wide power strokes. Mish's legs give a wobble, then a hop and MISH TAKES A KNEE! Williams up for 8, but she's wobbly butt - not all there as Jennie storms back in. GORGEOUS right uppercut, Jennie curling her shoulder in tight behind the blow - Mish out on her feet, sagging back into the ropes with a stupified look. Garth putting punches together - Mish taking clean on her face, head swivelling and WILLIAMS GOES DOWN! Mish on her face under the ropes - seething Jennie G pushed back and SOMEHOW, Mish beats the count! Mish all done, swaying hurt, gloves at her lips as Garth wades back in, BUT THE BELL SOUNDS! Garth stamping her feet in tantrum - so close! Comes back UD10 for the winner and STILL champ - Mish Williams.

After: Jennie shaking her head, telling interviewers, "if I only had one more round!" but maybe she should have thrown more in the rounds she DID have. Williams proving she can hurt a natural bantam, but Jennie soaked up some great Mish leather, and still had enough to nearly stop the champ late. "If she's thinking of coming up," Jennie says in postfight, face shiny with hurt, "she'll get her head handed to her. She just doesn't have enough to keep the big girls off."
