Before: "It's an intriguing matchup between two limited fighters," declares special commentator Claire Danes - ringside for this fight. "Both girls have had to fine tune their games to make advances. Mish has had to get better defensively, at least move her head once in a while, and she's really improved her footwork to help her cut down the ring on division cuties. Hewitt used to be a pure boxer because that's what Packard told her she had to be, but Jen's added power - she's not afraid to set down and hurt girls if they cooperate with her. My pick? It's Mish all the way and I'll tell you why. I don't know how Jen got past me, but what she doesn't realize is, she'll never beat me again. She thinks she's ready to take the title, but when Mish gets on her, and mauls her, and holds her, and traps her on the ropes, Jen's going to wish she were still fighting non-televised dinner theatre smokers somewhere." As far as the fighters go - Jen's just confident of a win, declining to make a prediction as to how. Mish more brazen, deciding that Jennifer will be dismissed as of the third round. Jen in white string bikini, Mish in pale blue push up, white bikini bottoms.

During R1: Jen standing her ground and slugging early - eager to stand in the pocket and trade right hands with Mish. Spirited crowd pleasing stuff, both girls lighting it up, but down the stretch: Mish wins the race to an overhand right between the eyes, locking Jen up and twisting into a clanging follow up hook to chin. JEN GOES DOWN! Hewitt scooting to her butt and looking shabby as she beats the count - eyes are glassy, mouth open as a grinning Mish storms across the ring. Williams with 30 seconds to mop up in, drives in with the top of her head square between the jugs, draping a groaning Jen in the ropes, then shoving in rights and lefts to the trunk line, folding the hurting challenger forward. Mish finishing up brawny, left arm in a light, dangling headlock around Jen, right hand plundering jug up underneath as the ref moves in at the bell.

R2: Hewitt gets on her bicycle, looking to get her bearings back after being mugged in the first. Jen pretty cute - sliding away from Mish, giving her head feints, then sidestepping around the right flank as Williams goes for it. Hewitt luring Mish to the ropes, then getting around the blonde - challenger doing a good job keeping her back off the strands. Williams storming forward, but keeping her hands up around her chest and chin, good balance - she's missing a lot of shots, but not swinging herself out of position - she's able to maintain pressure as nothing's coming back. Down the stretch, Hewitt hopping to her right along the ropes - Mish with wide gathering hooks reins the girl in. Walloping wide right in the body drops Jen's guard - quick clapping hook on the cheek and HEWITT IS STUNNED! Jen lolling back wide eyed in the ropes, amazed at Mish's sock - Williams JUST missing the go-home right hand as Hewitt leans into the strands. Williams mops up a chugging left/right assault on the belly - Jen folding forward to clinch hurt at the bell. Claire clapping, very partisan ringside - not even trying to be objective as she describes the action.

R3: Mish grinning, taunting Jen as she walks her down - brunette frazzled, sliding away: she's gunshy. Williams stalking, pushing out the timing left, gets Jen bobbing and weaving - blonde pulls the trigger on rifling right from the shoulder, neatly pounding off Jen's skull as she ducks forward and HEWITT'S STEPPING IN FENCE POST HOLES! Mish yelping with delight, hops in with hands low, just lugging leather up underneath to punish Hewitt's shiny little body. Gut check time for Jen - she's battered to the ropes but digs in - she knows Mish is trying to make good on her prediction and brunette won't have it. HAMMER AND TONGS! Jen covering up ear-muff at the ropes, but determined to counter - she's catching Williams nice little uppercuts out of the high guard on the chin. Mish happy to make her face available as she plows away straight-arm downstairs, just twisting her torso side to side to lap up brunette at the ropes.

R4: Mish has been throwing hard for 9 straight minutes - it's catching up. Hewitt able to wheel to her left, spike Mish the jab and keep her outside for the first time - brunette with a little distance starts to fight her fight. Hewitt measuring distance well - occasionally edging back to lure Mish forward, then nailing her the shooting straight right, then jabbing hard to cover her move to the left.

R5: Mish sees Jen's boxing - immediately resorts to a full-bodied tackle to start the round out jamming Jen into her corner. Coarse mugging from Williams - she's not shy about head or arm locking her foe, drawing warnings from the ref. Mish not above reaching under either Hewitt arm to grab the ropes behind her, use the shoulder to anchor Hewitt and the free hand to plug away. Holding and hitting, Mish not too proud to squash jug with right hands/forearms in tight - pinching Hewitt's pretty face in pain at the indulgence. Jen jostled and punched - just doesn't know what to do against this kind of savagery - not much coming back at Mish. At one point - Mish lands a pounding right hand to jaw that undoes Jen's legs - Hewitt wrapping up desperately around Williams ribs, hanging on for dear life: Williams smiling, helps herself to some vicious palm/heeling action around the girl's arms, thumping away on the back and body. Steady stream of warnings from the ref as Mish bullies her foe - Hewitt clutching at her back after the bell, screaming at the man to DO something.

R6: Anger looks good on Jen. She's quicker, more energetic, scooting left behind spitting jabs, stepping back smartly to walk Mish into those banging straight rights, then getting around blonde with crafty sidesteps. Mish getting turned and matadored around the ring - crowd loving the flashy punching Jen's able to do off the counter. Hewitt scoring a gorgeous right uppercut, picking Michelle's head up pretty. Hewitt with several nice straight rights to redden Mish's face. Jen hooking off the jab at points, helps her to get around champ's right side. Mish walking through it all, even waving Jen on in to trade, but it's a classy shutout Jennifer Love Hewitt.

R7: Girls completely negate each other this round. Mish letting her emotions get the better of her - she's loading up and trying to take Jen out with gobsmacking right hands. Hewitt can't risk trading against Mish, but easily slips and turns away from the punches, guiding Michelle past her with an insolent hand in the back. Searing misses from Mish, beautiful defense from Hewitt - nobody scoring in a sloppy seventh.

R8: Jen up off her stool AND THERE'S MISH! Williams actually charging out a couple seconds before the bell to get the jump, drives her shoulder into Jen and tackles her hard into the challenger's turnbuckles, then gives her a couple of brawny shoulder-butts to start the pounding with. Mish just going to town - head on Jen's chest, occasionally rising and falling with a dull thud against the clavicle or shoulders - fists pumping and thumping away to breadbasket - hands pushing and palming at shoulders, biceps, anything to open the slickster up. Hewitt getting ragdolled, bullied - she's trying desperately to spin or tie up, but it's not working. Danes standing at ringside, clapping big over her head - shouting "WORK HER OVER!" as if it hadn't occurred to the champ to do so.

R9: Hewitt trying to get respect early - long jab, long right hand, then bounding away - Mish lapping it up, smiling, walking through it. Second minute - Jen's sidestepping cute, turning Mish, slipping punches, but relentless blonde pressure is gobbling up the ring. Final minute - Mish getting her moments. Hewitt covered up at the ropes - Mish hopping in with her left shoulder towards the target, elbows in tight, fists at her cheek/chin, then turning her torso to pull the right hand flush into the ribs behind Jen's elbow. Brunette shuddering under the full-bodied impact, riding it out, clinching for breaks.

R10: First minute, Jen swiping the hook, drilling the long right, then bounding away - she's catching Mish at the end of the punches, but not hurting the champ - Williams grimly whittling down the ring and loading up. Midway through, Mish stepping in and POUNDING rights to the body, then turning to haul home the left, then clubbing down on the back of Jen's head a crude right. Hewitt reeling, covered up, bending at the waist but the bludgeoning just won't be denied. Jennifer takes a weepy knee midring - Mish hooting in triumph, hands high as the ref pushes her back. Woozy 8, Jen, then grinning Mish marches in to clean up. Williams bodying up big-girl, reaching her left arm to wrap up Jen's right, palming challenger's left shoulder to open up her torso, then cramming in brutal rights. Hewitt blubbering helplessly as Mish packs it in - driving rights square to breadbasket, squashing impacts to jug - it's a heartless beat down to the bell that leaves Jennifer trembling. Hewitt guts it out - Mish can't finish her - comes back UD10 Mish Williams.

After: Jen: bruised and achy, face all shiny and punished - she spends a couple of moments cradling tender ribs in the aftermath of this fight, squeezing out disappointed tears. "She's rough," Jen says in postfight, graciously offering comment, "REALLY rough. The officiating was terrible, but I don't want to take anything away from Michelle - she took it to me tonight. I had to hurt her early and get her respect so I could work the rest of my plan, but the exact opposite happened. I just never got my legs back right after she caught me in the first - it felt like I was fighting up hill all night. She's a good champion - not a great one though. I know I'll beat her, sooner rather than later. That's a promise." Williams breezy in victory, "Same old story boys: too much Mish! I'm so much stronger than Jen - than most flyweights - that it's not even funny. I just get on 'em and scrub, you know? And their wheels start coming off and it's me mopping up until they quit. I'll give her this: Jen Hewitt took a hell of a punch tonight - a HELL of a punch. I beat her body half to death, checked her chin and she kept coming back. She's not the punk she used to be, that's for sure - there's a little scrapper in that over-rated chassis of hers!"
