BBU WELTERWEIGHT TITLE TOURNAMENT - ROUND 1

(Girls Friday vs PageThrees)

BEFORE: Coronation Street's Catherine Tyldesley remains one of the most underrated BBU welterweights around but the 33 year old blonde vows to stun the experts and fans alike thanks to the all new & improved Girls Friday management that elevated the hitherto second tier stable into real contention over the past couple of months. It's no longer all about the Beevers, Kats & PageThrees according to the heavy-chested actress and that spells bad things for Danielle Miller who couldn't handle debutante Jesinta Campbell in her last outing back in October.

Catherine Tyldesley wears a black lacy basque top, matching hotpants and red gloves. Blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Danielle Miller wears a violet bikini set and black gloves. Long black hair in loose waves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.

Round 1:
Catherine tries to stamp her authority on this fight as quickly as possible but struggles to work around the model's high guard and becomes wary of the counterpunching threat as the younger girl land a nice hook on the mouth which gives her a much needed confidence boost. Melanie Sykes works in the Girls Friday corner for this fight and unlike Taryn Terrell in the earlier Elena Santarelli bout, she hopes to guide her protegee to victory however Miller dwarfs the betting odds and buries the blonde under a barrage of jabs Tyldesley struggles to embrace and has to bide her time in a circling avoidance come the dying seconds of a very close round.

Round 2:
Miller doesn't look overwhelmed by the revamped Girls Friday prospects and Mel Sykes becomes animated when the model picks the actress off in mid range and clearly hunts for a haymaker stunner that leaves Tyldesley too much on the defensive side thereafter. So much for that veteran edge as Cat just doesn't look warmed up well in the early stages of the fight and loses the right-on-right tangle which enables Danielle to work around the brow ridges and make the blonde lose her footing and trip back to the ropes. A hectic clinch saves the blonde from more danger but that's not the start all the Girls Friday fans hoped for!

Rounds 3 & 4:
This is a slow tempo affair and once must wonder if Tyldesley's a better prospect than even Elena Santarelli now; for some reason she refuses to enforce her presence on the otherwise mediocre glamour model and Kate Abdo reminds everyone that Danielle Miller hasn't really set the BBU world on fire over the past four years since her debut. Still, she keeps picking the blonde off in mid range and when she stacks Cat up with repeated body assault she sends her backing into the ropes where she methodically cleans out the breadbasket and leaves everyone wondering whether Sabrina Washington isn't the only former welterweight star that's about to exit the title tournament prematurely!

Round 5:
Miller has a huge smile on her face before the fifth and who can blame her, Mel Sykes is ready to step in and replace Tyldesley in the ring but of course that would autmocatically advance the Page Three vixen to the quarters and Catherine finally shows some courage by working to the model's guts and adding a nasty uppercut in close range. Danielle looked to be too assured of the result and truth be told, she's hasn't hurt the Corrie actress all that much despite securing a huge lead on the cards up until this point. Hectic slugging ensues in the latter half of the round but Tyldesley can only avoid losing it as she gets smacked on the temples in the final seconds and ends the contest trapped butt-in-ropes with Miller romping to the guts late and stealing a drawn round after a flamboyant start.

Round 6:
Kate Abdo has the fight scored 50-46 but Charlie Webster thinks it's only 50-48 as Tyldesley's veteran status enables her to salvage more drawn rounds in the third & fourth. The highly tactical affair fails to engage more life in the sixth too and perhaps the Jourdan Dunn fireworks left everyone fulfilled already. Either way, Danielle is spared any sort of a meaningful aerial attack but she prefers to outpoint the sluggish blonde rather than go for the knockout proper. Mel Sykes has calmed down in the Girls Friday corner but when Catherine arrives at the bell with a nasty lump under her left eye the prospects for the second defeat for the Newcastle-based stable look extremely good all of the sudden.

Round 7:
BIG PUNCH CATHERINE!!! The blonde shocks literally everyone inside the Wembley Arena when she nails Miller on the ear and wipes the smile off her face on the frickin's pot... a left handed dig on the liver follows and bends the model into aching spasms as the blonde riffles another right hook on the nose AND SENDS THE YOUNGER GIRL DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE... what a huge turnaround and only Mel Sykes' cheeky smiles indicates she saw it coming... Miller is furious about the knockdown reality and gets up at four... way too fast after such an eye-opener but she demands revenge against all the tactical advice... here comes the hammer time!!! She rips into the blonde's face but Catherine ducks underneath the aerial assault and WRENCHES HER ON THE LIVER to send the PageThrees entourage into tatters... Miller yelps out and bends forward trying to hug her aching spot but she fails to embrace the put away hook that nails her on the mouth and SENDS DOWN ON HER FACE moments later... what a pile of hot mess we have here! Dramatic KO7 Catherine Tyldesley!!!

AFTER: Kate Abdo hasn't seen anything like this but Charlie Webster can barely contain the laughs as she calls the old fashioned false sense of security trap that led to Miller's shocking demise: "Those things don't work against too many people but Danielle isn't quite the household name among the welters and she took it way too easy once it became clear that Tyldesley's not at her best tonight. This is merciless business and I have no idea what was Danielle hoping for? A nice & easy UD10 and a kiss from the Girls Friday crew? Nonsense! Cat isn't the Samia Ghadie of 130 lbs BUT she can punch and has won ugly fights before! Well, plenty of them in fact! There's a reason she's still on the Corrie cast while most of the big chested flyweights have departed now. She's the poor man's Alex Curran... well, to some extent... and she's survived all the Harry Keegan signings to come away with a big scalp! Let's make no mistake, Miller is a second tier operator but everyone wants to beat those tawdry P3 chicks up in BBU! We keep bringing up Joan Smalls, Jourdan Dunn and Nicola McLean's names in the title mix but I wouldn't be surprised if Catherine gives Jourdan a real handful next month! This will be a totally different contest and Jourdan better watch out or else her Sabrina Washington victory will be wasted!"

Final result: Catherine Tyldesley def. Danielle Miller KO7.
